As a French person I feel like it's my duty to explain strikes to you. - AdrienIer

[Spoilers] AT lurks his own thread!!!

we are, in fact, not at war. he didn't move his axe to A, he moved it onto a hill. And his other axe is healing.

I moved my worker back to the gems, but also moved a chariot down - it's kind of a trap, see. if he declares and steals my worker, I kill his worker, his axe and threaten his city.

As you can see, he has more cities than me - unsurprising, given that he's imperialistic. He has fewer resources, which may be because I'm expansionstic and make workers and workboats like they are candy.

he clearly is trying to cut me off and limit my expansion - Coimbra to my east and Evora to the north:

That's not quite cutting me off, but I'm sure his next city is as close to due west from there as he thinks he can get away with. My next city is A, unless he blocks me, in which case it's B and gear to war...

No changes - no wars, nothing very interesting. Get sailing in 2, which means whales. Yay!

WAR!!!

Coimbra grew to size 2 and, in the assumption that he's build a granary or a barracks, I figured I could attack. If he's been building a spear and can whip it in, this will be a short invasion, possibly ending in tears wink I could have waited quite a few turns and done a 1 turn, but that also would have given him more time to prepare. So, we'll see what happens.

This was my attack - it succeeded.

I peeked in, but didn't play, since it's still the first half of the timer. He has not reinforced Coimbra, though he whipped it. He did move his other axe away, presumably towards Coimbra - I think onto a road, so he might be able to hit Coimbra next turn with an axe and kill a chariot. But I'll have 2 more chariots there. We'll see what it looks like after I play - hopefully, I can do this like a raid and just end up with a nice city.

I took Coimbra. There are no other forces in sight, so I guess I'm fine. Gonna move my archer over there, in case, but I offered peace. I don't know if he'll take it or not - if he doesn't have spears, he'd be kind of foolish to attack, but I only have 3 chariots, so I'll get eaten alive if I do hit a spear.

All my chariots are moving in there.

two other things of interest:

Yikes. I don't even have a library up, or a cottage.

Also:

Horsewhispering is a fun quest - from CFC, http://www.civfanatics.com/civ4/strategy/events.php:

Quest3:
Horse Whispering
Prereq: ANIMAL_HUSBANDRY AND Horse resource
Obsolete: NATIONALISM or PRINTING_PRESS or EDUCATION or GUNPOWDER or ASTRONOMY
Active/Weight: 25/500
Aim:
Build default number of players for this world size stables (7 for standard)
Result:
1.you get default number of players for this world size Horse Archers (6 for standard)
2.All mounted units get the Sentry promotion
3.All stables provide +1 food

Obviously, that;s a LOT of stables - 11 - to get 10 free HA or +1 food (which can be a large difference) or sentry for everything. If you figure I'd build 3 or 4 stables anyway, then it's 7 * 60 = 420 hammers for 7 more stables vs 500 hammers for 10 free HA, which is a decent deal. I generally take the food when I get this - I don't think I've ever taken sentry.

Molach didn't end turn - I sent him a pm, but I'll probably end up having to ask for a pause again today.

Nothing major happened - he didn't attack me but he also didn't accept peace. He has an axe in Guimares, but I wasn't able to get a chariot in position to force him to whip a spear.

Moloch did add a spear to Guimares, so my conquering days are done wink Hopefully, we can negotiate a peace, or this gets expensive and draining for both of us. Course, he might be of the mind that it doesn't matter wink

because there is nothing worse for a stack of chariots than a stack of axes and one spear, I moved a warrior and an archer in coimbra. I'lll have copper up soon and I can build some defensive axes or, if I really need, upgrade the warrior. That's expensive though, so I'd rather not do that.

I have two more workers being made (Strep, Chickenpow), plus a settler in Strep after the worker. Measles is going to go granary->barracks for now

I badly need some commerce (cottages, working whales). I'm working my gems which helps a lot.

I haven't been grabbing screenies, sorry. I offered a peace treaty - he asked for Coimbra back (now called Ebola). He made some spears and currently has a stack of one axe, 3 spears and an archer on the hill. he's making a road. I presume there's a couple more axes behind that stack.

Honestly, it's probably a really bad idea to attack an aggressive civ without a tech advantage. I kind of wish I had just burned Coimbra now.

Oracle went, picking up Confucianism.

Turn 99

The turn was well overdue to flip, so I logged in and finished your turn. Hope you don't mind. smile

No new builds. Sent the Workers where it seemed logical. Wasn't sure if you wanted to whip the Settlers, required 3 pop in both cities though so I left them.

Loaded an Axe with no fortify bonus into the Galley so you can optionally take him to the island.

I grimaced a bit at the capital's tile management. Didn't change anything since you'd obviously set it up that way - I guess you're rather starved for commerce - but those unworked Crabs really hurt to look at. If nothing else it'd be worth founding that city to the SW of the capital just to ensure those Crabs are consistently worked.

I guess you really want that Great Scientist, though I'm surprised as a PHI leader you hadn't generated your first one before T100.
