[NO PLAYERS] PBEM58 lurkers and their kindhearted gentle thread

I dunno man, I named the lurker thread like this specifically to ward off Bob, but I guess it didn't work. wink

Well played all.

I'll be honest, I expected a lot more negativity on my outburst than I did my actual play (especially from a certain person). I realize I was playing horribly (and I mean horribly) early, but I feel like my play certainly got better later--granted at that point I had already lost, but it helped me survive until the end. I don't even know if Twinkletoes's attack would have wiped me out--he almost certainly takes Caldisla, but I think it takes most of his troops to do so.

People at this site love talking shit, as long as they can do behind someone's back - hence the purpose of these threads I guess. Sometimes you just gotta focus on the good so as not the bad bother you too much. alright

Not reporting would also be a mistake, unless you're mackoti, because then you learn less.

You could follow my method too. Promise reports and then don't do it until 10 days later when nobody cares anymore shhh

How did we get on the thread of not reporting being bad? All I offered was a reason some people don't report, not that not reporting is a good thing tongue

Of course, I'm still planning on reporting, as the two people who can see my PB18 thread can tell. I'm just not reporting quite as much (maybe every other turn in slow times), and maybe in not quite as much depth as I tried to do at the start of this game smile

Thanks, Seven.

CH, I've been the target of harsh lurker criticism, and I've certainly dished out more than my share. That's the case for a lot of us, I think. Bear in mind people tend to feel much more free to speak their minds about players in lurker threads because they expect that their posts won't be read for months. It's the same as player threads, just writ large. Add the fact that lurkers are by nature working with less-than-complete information about what's occurring in-game, and you can end up with commentary that's frustrating to read as a player.

Anyway, enough excuses. Congrats on surviving to the end, and for a hard-fought game! You stuck with the game through some crushing lows and ended up too tough to take down. That's more than I can say about some of my performances.

Hey, the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about...

Nothing is more frustrating to me than to report in an echo chamber of your(and only your) lonely thoughts. Lurker threads are self-serving attempts at amusement and typically little else, just as god intended. Don't be irritated by the lurker rabble, they're (me included) just here for the blood and gore. Occasional rudeness is surely a sign of affection. scared
