crazyeye I don't even know what to think. I just hope none of them are gluten or lactose intolerant, on the other hand I wouldn't mind if their civs get indigestion from the wonders that they chase.

I did some simming of the start. The two lines I tried were:

1) AH first, improve pigs > wheat ... This worked ok, but option 2 was better
2) Hunting > AH (to get "free" 20b from prereq bonus), improve wheat > pigs. I can go Worker > warrior > warrior and the timing works out exactly with growing to size 3 on T20 (got to 3 on T19 with option 1) > Settler T27 (same as option 1) ... this comes out +20 beakers, -5 hammers or so compared to option (1), but more importantly both warriors get completed before the settler as opposed to the second getting stuck at 10/15. That is important for scouting since that means I'll be able to uncover the whole area surrounding my capital. Because of this I'm going to send the initial scout deep and try to get an idea of my neighbors' identities and locations.

Demos from T1 (should be same as T0). Everyone has same # food/hammers so we all must have had similar starts and will all get 10T workers, except maybe EXP. But wait, max MFG is 3 so no EXP bonus hammer on the first worker.

Shot from T1 ... scout is going to go East as deep as he can until dying to barbs. Current plan is to have first worker head in a SE/clockwise direction since he'll have about 12 turns to explore before the settler pops out. 2nd warrior will have about 7 turns to explore and will go NW/clockwise to reveal the tiles in the north. GREY dot is a possibility for 2nd city. I'll have Slavery by that time, and can have fishing by the time it reaches size two. Give it the pigs right at settling and have the WB whipped out in within 5 turns ... wait, I'm not Creative duh time for bed Zz

Sounds good. Should also help with circumnavigation later if we get a good start.

Warrior, right? Not that that wouldn't be amusing wink

You could push it one east with nearly the same results - plus you lose a plains rather then a grass. Downside of course is the one turn later settled and the turn out of borders. Getting the fur early is good with hunting already teched, but I suppose its best just to wait and see.

I'm on the road this weekend and I have MacGyver'ed a "download on iPhone email" > "save attachment to Phone Drive app" > "transfer to PC via iTunes" > play save and reverse the process to send via email on my phone lol

I've been having the most trouble with my phone. "OK Google, log in to PB18, repeat all builds, and attack everyone" never seems to work. I always have to end up doing it myself. Am I doing it wrong or should I get an iPhone?

I generally go for the internet sharing option, though I'm not sure how well that works with iPhone.

Ok, quick update ...

Nothing of importance has happened yet. I'm planning to play more relaxed this game, so I'm not doing any C&D beyond watching power graphs and scanning the Demographics charts/graphs from time to time. I've been out of town for Labor Day weekend but the turns were just 30-second move the scout > *enter* > email boringness ...

I met retep (Asoka of Sumeria) on T4, but I never actually had vision of his scout. He must have popped in to view of my scout (on the circled hill) and then disappeared again. My guess is that he came from somewhere in the Northeast, because there isn't really room between me and Jowy and he can't have walked far in 4 turns.

My biggest fear in this game is being crippled by an early rush by War Chariots. Fortunately the land on Jowy's northwest isthmus is pretty barren and uninviting. I don't expect his 2nd or 3rd cities to pop up in that direction.

EDIT: not sure which way my scout will proceed. Probably southwest to find the ahemenemy, I mean friend, presumably situated to the south of me and west of Jowy.

Almost through all the boring early turns. I've been simming options in the sandbox as I have time, but nothing really concrete can go down until I get that warrior out to scout the southwest. In retrospect it may have been better to keep the scout close, but what's done is done.

We're pretty close here. 10 tiles between me and Retep (go-to order through the fog) and 11 tiles between retep & Jowy. Seeing retep there I think that Jowy is probably the furthest rival from me. That takes the worry of WC rush off my shoulders.

Close up of the region between retep & Jowy.

Somebody had 1st ring pigs frown and has them improved already.

Little update here on my current sandboxing results. I've been playing around with just the scouting data that I have. I have fairly complete info in the neighborhood of the pigs, and since a 2nd city generally likes to share food with the capital I've started simming with the 2nd city planted 2E of pigs.

Quote:T14: after select Fishing, work Pigs for 1-turn
Hunting > AH > Fishing (only 2T)> Mining > Fishing (finish 3T) > BW/Pottery??
T15: swap to completed Wheat farm
Start Mining T16 before finishing fishing. Also swap new citizen to Elephant.

BW/Pottery order to be determined by in-game necessity, but I'd like to go pottery first so that I can grow on Granaries rather than warriors.

For the tentative 2nd city 2E of Pigs ...

I build a mine 1N of pigs that can be shared by both cities, and I am able to work only improved tiles all the time at both cities (except for the forest Elephant, which I can't seem to get a camp on in a timely manner). The turn counter in the spreadsheet is accurate, so I'd have size 3 2nd city with crabs + Cow for 5F surplus. Not spectacular, but adequate. This is all subject to change, and probably will change if I find a corn/wheat/pigs in the direction of that Silver.

I have considered Stonehenge, and I don't think I'm going to make a run at it, at least not early game. I'd rather go for Great Wall (barbs on, plus I DO NOT want to fight an offensive war until at least Cats/Knights so the extra GG points are a big appeal). If I find a reachable Stone I'll try to get the 'Mids, I may still make a real effort anyway.
