So whilst we twiddle our thumbs and await a mapmaker, I'll give a quick once-over the field:
Contenders:
-Commodore
Clearly the handsomest person here. Balanced ratings in all categories; almost Regoarrarrian in self-defeatation. (Almost wrote self-defecation. Nope, that's my son's current forte!)
-Voted most likely to die mobbed by desperate groupies.
-Plako
Favorite to win, naturally, although as always he'll give his victims an inordinate amount of hope first. Plako is an amazing player but darned if I can pick out a distinct reason why. He's prone to getting rushed, for what its worth...the new RBmod means Agg Rome is likely to happen, so that will be fun...
-Voted most likely to succeed.
-Gawdzak
Dunno why he ranks here, exactly, but I get a good feeling about this guy. He is sane, reasonable, and erudite, which are all nice things in a newbie; a good reporter too, which helps for an early feedback mechanism. His first games here have thus far been good if not dominant showings. My gut says to put Gawdzak here, I'll not buck it.
-Voted most likely to marry Mackoti (Organizt!)
-Dtay
Kid keeps improving over several games; he's not the Mackening 2: Mack Harder, but he shows introspection about his strengths and weaknesses as a player. Cards have to go right for this one, but hey, so do they for anyone here not named Plako.
-Voted most likely to go out screaming "I've got this, guys!"
-Gavagai
Here is kind of the opposite of Deets; he started out (or at least debuted on RB) strong enough to win, but hasn't adapted rapidly. High aggression ratings, low empathy, which means he's not the best metagame reader out there
but, and this is something I don't do well, he will always take strong steps to better his relative position. He's not one to wallow around in doubt or ditherment, which is why he's always gotta be on the contention platform early on. Can get side-tracked into grudge wars, though.
-Voted most likely to get punched in a philosophical debate.
Maybes:
-GermanJojo/Borsche
I like Jojo and he's got some skills, but I sense an emotional instability; he's pretty tilt prone, gets discouraged and/or distracted easily, and at times lacks empathy. Maybe Borsche will assist there; I know nothing about the guy. I do see some wonder rating elevation here; otherwise very balanced player.
-Voted most likely to regret a Jumbotron message.
-retep
Retep is a good player, naturally thick and oily, but at this point he is spread out to like...seven? Eight? Different games. I think he's gotten over his wanderlust bug that so wrecked him in PB13/PB16, at least. He'll write some hilariously astute analysis, hand-scrawl good if conservative micro plans, and kind of grumble when he falls behind reporting.
-Voted most likely to cause game delays by being checked into Civ4 rehab.
Possibly:
-TrulyDiabolicalCupcake/AdrienIer
Really Evil Muffin is here from another shipwrecked Civ4 community; like Gavagai and GermanJojo, I get the impression he was the big fish in that particular pond. We've yet to see how he does long-term, but right now he's still pretty new. Example: Base BtS he picked Byzantium.
-Voted most likely to show a great skill delta from start to finish.
-2metraninja
I dunno what's up with 2metraninja. He's never performed worst in a field, but he's never been particularly a threat either. I suspect it's because he's another big fish elsewhere, and still pretty active all over the place. So a general competence level maybe but no focus or long-term deep planning in his particular game at hand.
-Voted most likely to attack someone for enragingly inscrutable reasons.
Nope:
-HitAnyKey/Cornflakes
I like HAK, he seems like a nice guy, good attitude, cheerful, good turn player. But...he's not exactly in this for the hardcore pride, you know? Just a feeling I get. He's in this for a lark and that's great.
-Voted most likely to confusingly claim insanity while being quite sane.
-Furungy
Still learning, albeit slowly. He's not a pushover or anything, very willing to fight...but nothing amazing do I see.
-Voted most likely to make his readers reach for the thesaurus.
