I agree on the fish/pigs spot; trying to going ham on Commodore when he knows its coming will be a losing proposition. Ignore the land grab for now for the most part, but push over a single axe (edit: actually, it should be a spear) just to ensure the Archery detour in order to delay Pottery detour. Let Commodore soak up all that Toroidal maintenance without cottages to recover on, then hit him with horchers while he's still struggling to finish Writing. (or cats+phants while he's still stuck on Math)
On another note, I'm flabbergasted that Commodore thinks he's being "nice" with his spot by settling so that the pigs will "only" be in the third ring of his holy city.

I think commodore made a potentially good move here. he has no economic traits, so his economic trait has to be "get the best spots and defend them"
My guess is that Pindicator builds out and overruns him with musketeers while commodore is struggling to get to knights.

Dear future mapmakers: continue to stick Pin and Commodore really close together. Really, Commodore and any one of Pin's half-dozen dedilurkers will do.

I guess I'd settle #1A. You'll get the pigs eventually, and it sticks an obstacle in Commodore's way so that he doesn't have easy access to your capital. If you delay for long you'll likely never get cultural control over that area. Try to stuff an axe in there ASAP to prevent Archers from razing it, add a Spear soon too. Then settle the double-corn + copper spot, which is incredibly good. This is the point in the game where Commodore's traits are at their best and yours aren't doing anything for you, so claim what you can, encourage him to turtle up with Archers instead of pressing you further, out-tech him and then come back for revenge with Musketeers or whatever.
I think Commodore has done really well here. Pindicator is really flustered and making silly moves. If he had declared war earlier and moved NW rather than SW he would have hassled commodore much better. It wouldn't have taken much C&D to see that commodore only built 1 warrior that could be at the city, and if commodore attacked a 50/50 to raze a first city is very good odds. This would have prevented the cow being built (I think) and kept him hassling commodore more. The late DoW is the worse possible outcome, not choking well and slowing his buildup.
I think the best play here would have not been to declare war. It would have been fairly easy to realise that that city would cripple an early economy. I would have gone to settle the plains hill above the fish. The pigs would be pasturable before the settler comes out and gives a strong second city. Growing as well and efficiently as possible would be the best combat to this, he could beat him to cata easily or knights before the amount of land gained started to show and deal with it that way. Settling the plains hill north next to the pigs would be suicide vs india. At any point he could jump up and road there to allow a 1 turn hit without the stack being seen so the standing army that would be needed to be kept in there would be extreme. It could so easily be pincered with his capital with chariots/horse archers.
His original city choice of mandiblia was rather good too I think. But too ignore it and build up with an eye to hitting him with a tech lead is the best play.

While not the nicest way to express the point, I'm with pindicator on this one. The man has suffered enough for our entertainment already. Although he could have turned down the invitation to play in this game if he didn't want to play against Commodore right now.

Are pin and commodore closer to each other than any other players are to each other? This is just a really tiny map, right?

In terms of sheer distance ignoring terrain (and using civ's internal distance formula), the distances are:
Dazed-Com: 24
THH-Ichy: 21
Dazed-Pin: 17
Dazed-Ichy: 16
Ichy-Pin: 15
THH-Com: 14
Dazed-THH: 14
Pin-Com: 13
Ichy-Com: 12
THH-Pin: 10
* It does seem like Pin-Com was the most likely of the close borders to be contested.
* Dazed arguably has the farthest neighbors. That's because he has more water near him, I think. He also has probably the second-tightest land connection: to THH.

Blasphemy! You are hereby evicted from the lurker cabal for failing to uphold the sacred tenet of 'BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD'.
