ISDG 2012 flame war

2meta I think retep is talking about mackoti making DoWed CivFr for the first time. I know now that CFC wouldn't have DoWed CivFr in the first place if Mackoti wasn't playing. Also, RB would have DoWed the Germans anyway. This would have lead to a straight three-way dogpile on RB and they would have lost anyway. This makes my other points moot but still feel free to react to them everyone.
You have to respond to my argument Krill for me to react because I have nothing to say expect "I'm right"...
So, I never paid any attention to this game (I don't think I ever quite realized what it was), but I'm curious how many teams/groups were in this game. (I'm curious to read some threads but I'm not sure it's worth the effort.)
I'm just doing my best out here.

Just because the mod wasn't willing to accuse a team without direct evidence doesn't take away that GCA and SANTCA cheated. The combat results were impossible so you don't need anything else. I call Memphis a cheater and would be willing to go to court. I just hope if I ever end up in court its with a judge who understands maths and not MJW sitting in the chair.
Completed: RB Demogame - Gillette, PBEM46, Pitboss 13, Pitboss 18, Pitboss 30, Pitboss 31, Pitboss 38, Pitboss 42, Pitboss 46, Pitboss 52 (Pindicator's game), Pitboss 57
In progress: Rimworld
I'm still awaiting you to come up with evidence. No point commenting when all you are doing is shouting that I'm a cheater with no evidence.
I'm confused, wasn't "RB ISDG team" another Sullla smurf?
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.
I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out. (December 1st, 2014, 13:49)Commodore Wrote: I'm confused, wasn't "RB ISDG team" another Sullla smurf? No. Mea culpa aside, which is by far preferable to just ignoring the issue, perhaps you ought not to be the one making that particular joke? There were plenty of people engaged in ISDG. There were lots of ideas floated here and there. There is only ever one turn player pulling the levers and in our case this person had an outsized impact on game play. You can judge whether it is the right of the turn player to make all of the decisions, just move the pieces around the board like a drone, or act somewhere in between. In the end, Sullla played and reported and invested a lot of time in the reporting and came across, at least to me, as more of an owner of the team than a player on the team and he acted accordingly. The blame is not entirely his but some of it is. To a lesser degree, some blame is mine. I advocated a "burn CFC" strategy from the outset because I hated the ornery nature of the setup phase and Sommers' (and others) attitude and demeanor. I didn't care about winning so much as saying "screw that guy" and I still more or less feel that way. He was a jerk about setup and happened to be on that team. Such is life. I do think that if we had played a crappy opening and had not been the obvious dogpile target that this would have been less of an issue, but you either need to play to win and swallow the bile and work with the guy you. fucking. can't. stand, or you need to be ok taking a lump and moving on. We took our lump and have moved on, so let's stop rehashing this train wreck and not get into finger-pointing and name-calling. If you want to follow up on the game itself, read the archived forum here or on one of the other teams' page. I enjoyed the game, then we lost, now it's over. No need to search for existential meaning or play the blame game.
Well well well...
Of course, I'm only accusing Memphis of being a cheater Krill, not you. I've read Sally Clark article and only point #2 would work here. To get rid of it you need the likelihood of someone cheating. I'm pretty sure at least 1% of people cheat so you would have to divide by 100 to get the true odds. However, the odds were so high that wouldn't change anything. The method that was used to cheat was to download the save and open it without the password. This doesn't leave any other evidence behind other than the odds. Memphis did other things that were strange like stopping and starting combat again and taking a long time. But still the only real evidence would be the very high odds and I don't think that would work for you for some reason Krill. Playing pitboss with preserve random seed is basically unplayable because you could get accused of cheating with no way of defending yourself or cheat with no way of getting caught. So the game should have been called right there and because no-one was calling for Memphis to be punished without more evidence there's no reason to attack him unless you are lying about your true feelings about his guilt. Attacking someone is a punishment. |
