[Team 2 & Lurkers Only] Kragroth: Orc Warchief Speaks!

In my mind I don't see the scout going to #1 (definitely not #2). Good thing is he probably don't know we see his scout by now. Still, I don't think he'll step inside our borders to risk his scout into dark. I mean, I wouldn't. What I think he might do is the following:

1) He first moves to Grassland tile 1N from the gems.
2) At that point he sees Hippus scout and a little bit inside our borders.
3) After that he has a decision to make, either
a) he goes to plain hills 1E from gems; his scout gets about 50-50 battle against Hippus scout.
b) he retreats back to forest 1N1W from gems.

But for sure, warcry is not worth it at this point. No matter if the scout will stay alive or not. That's my thoughts of the situation.

If I was Hannah I would probably go on that plain hills, but let's see what he'll end up doing!

Also to Eclipse, remember that recon units (for example a scout) are unable to pillage. So no worries with that.

Chapter 11

Kragroth sits at the War Room to respond to his allies.

Kragroth: You have a good point Tasunke. We haven't seen the Jonas or evil Cardith scouts. I would expect the enemy to want to explore the bottom territory and unfortunately Cardith is the nearest to those and he lacks aggressive.
Kragroth: Cardith. You have a short memory, boy king. Go back and read what you said earlier. Any unit adjacent to a coast tile sees every tile adjacent to that coast tile. Hannah definitely sees the Hippus scout. It's just a question of how arrogant she is
Kragroth: Very well Cardith we will not use Warcrry. We cannot permit these scouts to gather intel too much. We need to chase or eliminate them away. Perhaps we should consider building a scout instead of our next warrior? In my mind it's only worth building Hippus scouts.

I don't think Hannah can actaully see Hippus scout; the scout is on flatland - I think it can only see one tile to each direction.

But the Scouts can fight in FFH/EitB?

See attached save game. Notice the scout is adjacent to the coast and therefore sees all tiles adjacent to the coast tile. Move the scout back one and you'll similarly see that the scout's vision reverts to only one tile adjacent to the scout.

I'm concerned about sending warriors to enemy cities. It's turn 14 and my scout hasn't reached an enemy city. I estimate it will take at least 20 turns for a one move unit to reach the other side of the map. Note, these guys are builders by nature. Let them waste rescources and time getting techs that aren't critical and building granaries and other non critical items in their build queues. If they build extra warriors, it is just that harder to break them later.

And yes you can attack with a scout, but I don't want to risk losing a battle and have their scout be harder to kill and more dangerous. Hence why Kragroth advocates for 2 units to be able to attack together.

for whatever reason turn files, even zipped turn files are corrupt on my laptop when I download them here and other sites as well. This has been confirmed several times over. Many times a new player (or next player if one was eliminated) will post the turn to the thread. When I download it regardless of its name or file type I receive Attachment.php in which I rename the .php extension to .CivBeyondSwordSave and generally I can play but not always. I believe it is some corruption in "file association" in my laptop but never figured it out

Yeah, you're right. I forgot coast (or a lake in this case) makes you see further. So yes, they see our scout already.

Chapter 12

Kragroth: Arrggh! I made a tactical error and should have moved my orc warrior 1. Oh well, it could have gone multiple ways.
Kragroth: Here's my new suggestion
Kragroth prepares the map

Kragroth Move Orc Warrior 1 East. Hannah scout cannot raze city in 1 turn. Move Hippus Scout over other Hill to prevent more vision. Move Hippus Warrior 1 North. Goal is to pincer the Lanun Scout between hippus warrior and Hippus Scout. If Lanun scout is arrogant, it will continue moving south. Other wise it will move East or North and the Hippus scout can tail.

According to my quick test it seems that the scout can raze the city even if the scout attacks your (orcish) warrior and kills it. And all this in 1 turn, correct me if I'm wrong here though.

It's highly unlikely that the scout will attack (and win) though. It would get only have like 5% chance of winning.

The scout has about a 3%. Aye it's a slight risk.
