[Team 2 & Lurkers Only] Kragroth: Orc Warchief Speaks!

I made the decision to continue building the settler. My proposed plan is to finish the settler in c1 then immediately build a worker in c1. We will lose 2 turns of production but we will have a worker to go to c3. C2 is immediately building a worker. This will allow it to finish a worker 3 turns after horseback riding is finished and then immediately begin building a centaur. I envision very quickly kurio will have 3 cities and 3 workers with each city producing a centaur.

We want legends as quickly as possible hence settler #2 now.

Don't tell me you settled 1N of wine? On floodplains? From picture it looks like you settled on wine but your text speaks against it. I really disagree with the settling of #2 city next to river either way but as I let you do the deciding for me I probably have to take it.

I didn't settle in the flood plains. I've requested a do over and am waiting approval.

The do over has been approved. There's a new save that's been sent to us and when Eclipse plays today he can continue it. The city has been settled on the desert which is risky, but it will allow us to work the wine when we get crafting which will be soon:

Tech Plan is Horseback Riding -> Exploration -> Crafting -> Mining -> Bronze Working.

After that point it's a little fuzzy, but I'd probably say Masonry -> Ancient Chants -> Education -> Mysticism.

At some point cartography would be needed.

That's my next question for lurkers:

1. At what point is it worth it to give up God King instead of City States?

2. If I delete Rantine, am I suddenly able to build Shrine of the Champion?

1) This is pretty subjective. In non-team games, I tend to try and avoid GK as much as possible. It can be a sort of trap that discourages expansion.

Economically, you can calculate how much gold CS will save in maintenance and compare that to the bonus gold GK gives from your capital. Use the two calculations to determine your breakeven tech rate and see which civic provides more beakers.

2) Yes, you can do that. Rantine is pretty useful though if you keep your barbarian peace, since he can flip their cities.

Kuriorates did scouting. Apparently the big difference in score included mining and they already have a gold mine

Kragroth's advice is not to take the hill but the forest for our Kurio scout. The Hill is the most ideal spot, but very possibly and likely guarded by an unseen warrior. We'll see what our opponents' moves are.

To be honest though the gold on our enemies does not bother me. We get Horseback Riding in a few turns and we'll have 7 cities soon each able to produce a mounted unit

No Nationalism for Orcs and Pacifism for Enemy Kuriorates. By all means play that Great Person game while we invade your lands!

The biggest danger we have is our enemy getting bronze working and then getting copper warriors. Luckily for us, Copper warriors are still surmountable and it's unlikely all three of our enemies will have a copper. Even if they trade it amongst themselves, one of the first things that we can do will be to pillage that improvement.

A secondary slight bad thing that could happen would be Jonas Orcs building Rantine. Yet that'd still be a mixed blessing because that means that I could build shrine of the Champion and get better Wolf Riders.

Chapter 15

Kragroth Summons Cardith Lorda

What you mean by arrows? Don't you know that Hippus already make another warrior? Don't you think Hippus Warrior should be closer to enemy when it Warcry Time?! Hmm? Me thinks you should let Kuriorate Warrior go back to city and Hippus Warrior go to Kuriorate City 3.

Kragroth: You know human, iit's a shame. I love setting hills, but you don't. I suppose you're right and 3 plains hills will make an excellent source of hammers for your super city.

It will take Hannah's warriors 14 turns to reach the edge of our borders. We get horseback riding in 2 turns. We will have enough time to build a few wolf riders to intercept them.

Whenever we do intercept them, we should make them feel that they were legitimately killed by scouts and their logs should note that they were killed by scouts (rename the units). We want to kill these annoying warriors, but we do not want to reveal directly our ascending army. Kragroth asks for assistance from all his allies.

Kragroth feels he needs to retreat the goblin for better or for worse. Either the enemy will guard the hills for vision or always be one move behind the goblin.

Chapter 17

Kragroth: Much has changed. Our orc scout has retreated meanwhile all of the triad nations begin their production of their mounted units. Our Kuriorate scout Bouqetin has died. His death will be avenged. Now we must build routes between the nations:

Kragroth: Our goblin worker and Hippus worker will meet together and begin building roads together south until they reach the Kuriorate Capitol. The remaining goblin worker will improve Hippus lands as needed. Whenever Mining has finished researching, the Hippus and goblin worker will return to work the gold hill tile and proceed to improve the Hippus lands. After that point at least one worker will return to the orc lands to help with improving that area.

Kragroth: Hmm, the new Kuriorate City will need an efficient improvement strategy. Kragroth proposes the following:

This should be an optimal order for Kuriorate production to flow! Kragroth estimates that Mining is 12 turns away.

Chapter 18

Kragroth: Bouqetin's slayer openly mocks our nation. Kragroth thinks we need to move as one to combat them:

By moving both units in that direction. The Lanun scout will be unable to take a hill to see the centaur. If the scout takes the bait and attacks the warrior or the Hippus Scout, the other unit will likely be able to finish the scout off. If not, then the centaur will be in range to sprint a kill. If the centaur does need to make a kill, we rename it to "Hunter". The enemy suspects a mounted army, but cannot know that for sure (unless one of them cheated and read our posts!), as such we must nurture that doubt as best as possible.

The Lanun scout is formidable with Combat 2 and an Anti-Mounted Promo, but nothing that we can't contain. If the scout doesn't attack, then it will either retreat, at which point we will consider whether to engage it or not or it will fortify. If it does, another warrior is on the way

Auro should consider this tactic and whether to use it or not and take all three turns for the team.
