Honestly, seeing him Sacrifice 2 Maces in order to kill the LB (and Cat) would be worth it imho ... now, whether or not 2 maces will die ... is another question entirely.

I could have delayed, ofc, to include more units .... but then he would have probably whipped more etc (and the important thing, imho) was for both ... or technically all three, events to happen simultaneously.

This is how things look like opening the Save

And this is how things look like ending the save

Its soooo much fun attacking with cats in enemy culture smile

At this point I have to say that you are not going to take anything from the war with Elkad when you keep on making those sort of piecemeal moves, allowing hte guy with less units to destroy your stacks one at a time. I'm going to go to global lurker status now.

Alrighty then. Full report.

We razed Middleburg this turn. lost 1 mace, 1 sword, killed 1 mace.

Last turn while defending, we killed 3 War Elephants and 4 Catapults. While losing 1Pike, 1Xbow, 1Longbow

------------------------------

This turn we lost 3 Catapults (land theatre) and 1 Mace/ 1 Sword (naval theatre)

Meanwhile we killed ... 1 Maceman with Great General Attached, 2 War Elephants, 1Xbow, 1Sword, 1Archer, 1Spearman (land theatre), and 1 Maceman/ 1 City (naval theatre)

Yes, we razed Middleburg this turn. Did it have any culture in it? Idk, I hope so though ... that leaves only Maastricht (imho) preventing us from further settling the northern island. Settler 3 turns away ...

------------------------

Total Kills = 4 Cats, 5 WEs, 2 Maces, 1 Great General, Xbow, Archer, Sword, Spear, 1 City

Total losses = 3 cats, 1 Xbow, 1 Pike, 1 Longbow, 1 Mace, 1 Sword.

If we assume he had Barracks+Granary in his city (which I think we can since he whipped a glowy mace there)
That means 220 hammers for the city (Settler/Barracks/Granary) and 800 unit hammers. Meanwhile I lost about 430 hammers.

So I lost 430 hammers to deal about 1020 hammers worth of destruction ... while attacking.

------------------------

I've considered adding Amphib Knights to my Amphib Mace retinue, in preparation for the razing of Maastricht.
I have a Guerilla 2 longbow on a hill 1 tile adjacent to Maastricht, and in addition to this there is 1 Catapult that will slowly bombard away the city defenses. If he attacks with all of his units this turn, he will lose almost everything, and I will simply raze Maastricht, cultural defenses or no. If he doesn't attack, I'll eventually bring in Amphib Knights and, in combo with Amphib Maces will raze Maastricht anyways.

I haven't decided if the primary attack is just a unit killer/distraction, or if I actually want to Raze The Hague. I have an exit strategy in case things turn south ... but thus far Elkad hasn't shown me something that can kill my stack. I was going to go Astronomy First but, imho, going Paper b4 Astronomy might not be such a bad idea. Sure it allows Commodore to see the techs I can research, but it can show me (I would assume) the techs that Gavagai, Donovan, and Elkad can research.

Honestly I think that Krill was perhaps a bit too reluctant in attacking via land. It would have been really funny to have trapped all of Elkad's units onto that Island, while burning his Galleys, and then razing his capital. But C'est La Vie, you can only play with what the people before you have accomplished.

Next turn, having killed his stack and pillaged his Horses, I can retreat of course ... or I can continue on to The Hague and attempt a Core-City-Raze. A lot of that will depend on what Elkad chooses to do.

Nobody is going to censor Krill's posts for you, Tasunke. Especially when they aren't offensive in the slightest.
