Some brainless production queuing to use as a baseline:
We have great freedom in tech choice, so the decision really should be made after scouting.
My only point at this stage is that I am really loath to put hammers into Warriors, when Archery is so cheap for us.

My only comment right now is that I would prefer to build a second worker after settler than a warrior.

Hey guys, the lurkers recommended we upgrade your sheep to be a grassland river corn. I feel like this is a straight-up upgrade for you, but if you don't want it (because it requires an additional tech), please say so here. I'd figure I would give you the option rather than screw with any micro plans you have.

Hm. Well, it sort of makes the choice in micro for us -- more appealing to go Agri -> Hunting -> Pottery now, and AH will be cheaper...
I would say that the loss of flexibility and a coin is worth the extra food (and another at Biology). I don't think Gavagai was very hot for researching Archery anyway. I am pretty sure we'll take the corn, but if there's no rush, let's wait for Gav's input.
If the BFC as it stood was underpowered, I'm afraid to think what others have.

Yes, give us Corn! This guy approves of this message!

In the short term the corn yields no benefit actually, the Settler still comes out T24, we can't really grow to three faster, as the food adds up to 23, the only advantage is that we can work the ivory over the sugar for a greater hammer yield if we decide to grow to 3 before building the Settler (who then comes out T26, 2 turn delay). With these extra hammers we can actually get two warriors out (or 1 skirm), but who cares? The coin on the pasture might in fact have a greater effect on the early game speed than this food.

Based on this info I'll temporarily retract my agreement to Corn...
Truth to be told, I'm slightly annoyed that we are required to make a choice of our starting resources at all. Doesn't seem right.

Actually, I agree -- if we start choosing our own resources based on microplans, we open up a can of worms and others will be legitimately pissed if once they found out. If the mapmakers decided it should be corn, let it be corn, we shouldn't have influence over that decision. We've discussed in gchat, so this is our final choice.
