I wouldn't bother. Not worth the effort.
[SPOILER] Krill rambles on

Very nice opponent analyses. Both entertaining and analytical. Thank god we did not end up playing here with OH. :P
I liked especially the analysis on plako. I think he deserves all the praise that you gave to him and consequently I find it a bit pity that he leaves so much on the table with his extremely casual play style (at least when it comes to early game). Based on my PB13 & PB18 experiences I feel that plako handicaps himself so much that if the field is competitive enough and you have multiple "dtays" running around that his chances aren't too high. Of course plako can still win if he gets a favorable geopolitical position (ie easy first conquest) and gets into a good mid/late game position where detailed micro starts to lose its importance and plako's strengths start to shine. And I would imagine that you are the only one ranking yourself in any other place than "tier 1", but I guess it's good behavior to be humble. Of course you have a chance to screw up here miserably and prove me wrong (August 23rd, 2015, 13:05)Krill Wrote: Ichabod.. Despite the simplicity or lack of actual fighting that's still one of my favorite turns during my limited civ "career"
Thank you. I think this is the first time I've really done the analyses and I'd try to improve them, but I'm now starting to reach the point where I just don't know the players that well. The quality is most assuredly going down hill from now on
I think there are a lot of similarities between Plako and myself inasmuch that we're both going to need a good early-ish war, or a really poor neighbour, to take a commanding position in the mid game. In fact with the players in this game and the civ randomness, I think the only person that can simply play themselves into a strong position is dtay if/when he pulls off a good Oracle play. Other than that, I'd agree with the premise that the neighbour luck effect is going to decide this game. The upside being, I see a lot of people that may fit into that "poor neighbour" category so who knows what will happen. I'm not sure how many people keep extended micro plans, but I think Plako does do somem micro just doesn't hold a sim together. I'm in the same category now, I won't be holding a sim together once I've settled the second city. Also, I think anyone I've done a report on can win this game, it's not like I'm ruling myself out now as a definite loser or anything. I need a break, just like everyone else. In my mind, if I can get Henge, then that is enough for me to feel confident that I can play out this start to a strong mid-game position around T115. And thanks for finding the link
Also, FT, I have a dare for you. Play a game without simming past T35. And Tasunke (probably) needs a sub.

Quite honestly I think my first try on ~T35 sim is not really far away from what the actual play will be. It's the T40-70 region when stuff gets complex and one can come up with ideas + make ground towards opponents with good play. Mmmm, I really enjoy that part of the game and the analysis related to the phase so I might not want to skip the simming there if I have any time at all. But if someone prepares me a T40 sandbox I can start from there next time. Depending on enthusiasm level simming just has to stop somewhere around t80-100. (assuming normal speed everywhere) EDIT: Obviously if the map is super rich of resources then t35 simming might be really beneficial. If you only have couple of food resources around and only 1 decent spot for a 2nd city then doing all the planning without actually seeing the game is easy-ish.
Naaaah, pause from civ is good. Even though OH took care of crazy modern era turns PB18 still took quite some energy. Let's see later if something really interesting emerges and we/I make a comeback.
I haven't followed your tech thread so I don't know what's the case with Tasunke is, I'll go and read. (not going to reach my civ computer before tomorrow evening so I'm no good for short-term help if that's what's needed)
Nah, you won't find it in there, Tasunke said he needed a sub for PB25 and I don't see how he can need a sub for that game and not this one...

So here's the question: do you really need a sim for that, or can you do it in your head and with a spreadsheet to record the actions? |
