I actually thought we'd just stick with the mrrshan leaders names for the warriors. Shandra?

Maniac Marshall Wrote:I actually thought we'd just stick with the mrrshan leaders names for the warriors. Shandra? Okay, that makes sense. So the four we have planned will be Yalara (starting unit) - Shandra (in production) - Prrsha - Jasana, with Miamar and Mirana waiting in the wings in case we decide we want some more warriors for HRE/MP (doubtful with human enemies, ball-of-string courts, and all these happy resources nearby).
On playing late in the turn: Eh, it might happen naturally. I'm heading out now, and though I might briefly be able to see this thread, my e-mail, and/or the game (briefly!) sometime later this afternoon, that'll be my last opportunity until late Saturday night. As long you or Cull can play in the meantime, this isn't a problem obviously. Assuming we do have a chance to play at a reasonable time though ... I hate the idea of gaming the turn timer for an advantage. Yes, I realize others will do it to us. Yes, I realize it's not only within the letter of the rules but within the spirit. (We wouldn't be double-moving, and wouldn't need to - just waiting for more intel to make sure we're moving Yalara in the correct direction on T16 itself.) It's just a silly thing to do for very little gain. If we're actually worried about someone attacking Fierias, we don't really lose much at this point (~4 turns of scouting) by just sending Yalara NW-NW-NW-NE, at which point she can go wherever she wants for T20, because Fierias can complete Shandra in time to defend itself if necessary even if someone sneak-moves onto the old red dot hill or wherever at the very end of T20.
I still favor just exploring and assuming no one's going to try to kill us, but that's me. In a different game, I might play it differently, but the extra notch on the side of Krill's club should encourage us to be more daring, not less; having killed a next-door neighbor, he shouldn't be able to reach us in time himself, and few other teams have anything approaching his sheer nerve; if they can't see our center tile and can't see Yalara, they'll move away. And if in addition to the extra room for expansion (and one less next-door enemy against whom to defend early) Krill makes us and all the other teams play more conservatively, that move of his will have been powerful indeed!

Okay, looks like the turn has rolled, but I don't have time to log in and have an adequate look around, so you guys can play when you want and are able to do so. In the meantime, a quick copy-and-paste job:
Okay, the plan for the next few turns (assuming no contact with the enemy*) according to Option 2:
EVERY TURN: Please check the turn log to see if anything exciting happened like Hinduism appearing or Rome getting eliminated or something. Recording who got a score increase on Civstats, and by how much, will also save me time if you want me to keep figuring out what these score increases mean. Or you can figure 'em out yourself if you're feeling ambitious. I'm honestly not paying much attention to the demoscreen, but in case we want to trace something back through history somewhere down the line, it would be useful to have a screenie of that too.
Turn 16: Fierias switches to working the sheep (2f/1h/1c). Yalara moves again of course. I still prefer NE into the forest, assuming there's not an animal standing there or a bear visible on one of the adjacent tiles, but whatever/whenever you guys decide is fine by me.
Turn 17: Yalara continues along her way, preferably staying in cover and ensuring no treeless non-floodplains tiles near our city remain in the fog. Everything else stays the same.
Turn 18: Yalara moves yet again. No other change. Remember that we'll have another warrior out of Fierias in about six turns, and more coming swiftly thereafter; Yalara does NOT have to stick to defogging stuff near our capital indefinitely, and can soon start exploring farther afield if we so desire. But keep her under cover when possible, just in case.
Turn 19: Fierias works the corn, on which the farm should now be complete! Presumably Yalara's still moving if she hasn't been eaten.
Turn 20: Chmeee moves 1W onto the grass hill. Yalara does her thing.
Turn 21: Chmeee mines for a turn, but his orders are then CANCELED! This will ensure that he can escape in case someone appears on Red Dot Hill at the end of the turn and we can't reach a diplomatic solution before our last opportunity to play in the first half of the following turn. Thus, he's going to keep mining for 4 turns, but canceling at the end of each turn just to be safe. In any case, Yalara keeps on trekking.
*- Note that if we see someone either NW-NW or NE-NE of Fierias before T19, I advise CANCELING Chmee's farming orders after he's completed his action so we'll have the option to move him on the following turn if necessary, based on the other unit's action. As with the mine, he can always resume the next turn if there's no danger.

OK, I waited as long as I reasonably could without possibly holding up the game before I moved Yalara.
The land over yonder looks bone dry.
And here is the obligatory status screenie:
Baring any contact from the north or animal sightings that might alter things, I expect our next warrior moves are NW then probably NE onto the hill?

The turn has rolled. I'll be leaving in a few hours and won't have civ access for about 18 hours. Being that I know RefSteel is in the same boat, if I don't hear any objections from you, Cull, in the next 3-4 hours before I head out, I will move the Warrior NW with the idea that our next move will be NE onto the hill.
PS: There is still no contact with man nor beast, nor any updates to the event log.
EDIT: OK it's time for me to leave now, and there are only 3 other teams to play, so I'm going to go ahead and play the turn. Sorry.

Well, several teams played their turn while I was taking screenies, and reggo and company are the only team that hasnt played, so if he plays in the next few minutes I'll play again. Here' s the info: Nothing new in the event log and no contats or barbs.
I say NW onto the hill is a winner barring a bear sighting.

OK Reggo played just as I was unplugging the labtop to leave, so... I'll play the turn real quick and we should be good till late tonite.
Well, we finally have contact with another sentient being... it doesn't seem very friendly...
The arrow is pointing to the place I'd suggest we flee. Depending on where the bear moves, we COULD try to take the bear on from the forested hill. It'd be 4.235 vs 3. Not sure exactly what that makes our odds (not going to take the time to figure them atm), but I don't think it makes them good enough to risk our only warrior at this point. I'd want at least like 93%. If it turns out we CAN get those kind of odds, then we should consider it.
EDIT: Actually, we COULD also move SE onto the desert and just try to dodge around that way depending on where the bear moves.
Annnnd, here's that other screen.

Thanks for moving us, Maniac!
Looking back at my previous post, I think I not only explained myself incredibly poorly, but was also not thinking straight. This happens when I'm in a rush sometimes; sorry. My concerns about waiting to play late in the turn were silly. Literally every team is going to do that when they consider it to be to their advantage to do so, and as such failing to do so would just be giving ourselves a pointless handicap. I'd like to play a game where there was no penalty or advantage to be had by logging in rarely or often, early or late, but we can't change that by just handicapping ourselves - and at all events, a Pitboss game just isn't going to work that way. So I'm glad you ignored my preference!
Also, I wrote, "I don't have time to log in and have an adequate look around, so you guys can play when you want and are able to do so." Obviously you can play when you want and are able to do so regardless of my babbling, and I wasn't going to log in and play at that point even if I felt I had enough time to do so, since we weren't in agreement yet on where (or anyway when) to move. I think my theory was if I had a chance to log in and have a good look at the area, I could form an intelligent opinion on what we should do and suggest it here (or something) but lacked the time to do anything except in a hurry (which means poorly, as my comment obviously indicated). So, sorry about all that.

IN MORE IMPORTANT NEWS:
We're on Turn 19. I logged into the game and switched Fierias to working the corn (the farm will be complete this turn, but Chmeee is still at work on it with movement remaining right now) but did not move Yalara. The bear has moved out of sight. I checked combat probability, and we'd have a 76.9% chance of survival on the forest hill assuming the bear remained nearby and attacked. I wouldn't risk it on purpose, so I agree with Maniac's plan of moving 1NW. If I don't hear otherwise, I'll (hopefully!) have a chance to do this in just under two hours.
