Because the game is over and it's been a little while since the end? That doesn't mean discussion has to stop.

You're attributing judgement, emotion, and overstatement to me that aren't there. I never claimed that, nor would I.

But I stand by what I said - it was brought up in areas that it was not relevant. Perhaps not wholly by you, though, I may be misremembering that.

(Oh and I'm assuming the last paragraph wasn't directed at me?)

This. And this is a discussion we hardly want to attract new members to, is it?

Yay for keeping dirty little secrets in the dark.

tl;dr of this forum: Fin, you lost, suck it up. Joey, you did post shit in forums where it wasn't entirely necessary. PB25 wasn't to fuck you over, shit maps just happen. TBS, congrats on the solo victory. Xenu, you just suck. Sorry.

The post was mostly directed at Fintourist. Its not the first time they've accused of spewing shit about the PB25 map everywhere, but it was really just the PB27 setup thread, and that was only after Commodore brought it up, not me.

I'm going to change the subject.

Would you believe Sledding was actually founded before Basilisk Caves? crazyeye Joey was very slack with this city, it sat around without a culture source or worker support for ages working that forested tundra hill.

This was from where I tried chopping out the MoM, and just missed it by a turn or two, heh. (I was totally shocked when dazed built it without Marble) All my workers were down south, scheming how they could chop out the trees in the few remaining open tiles on our border. By the time my workers got back up there, you planted and insta-popped borders in BC, kicking out my chopping worker right before the chop completed. I had been counting on the forests for the border pop because all the food was second-ring... and thus the city was screwed.

IMHO you were extremely aggressive with your borders, both at Sledding and at Hastee Tastee, in both cases settling contentious sites long after I did and then using caste+missionaries to pop borders in 2 turns. In HT you popped 2nd ring a single turn before I did, and then popped 3rd ring a turn before I did too! I was really really close to going to war over that, but the timing never seemed right, as I didn't want to get bogged down in a protracted war with someone I had such a long border with just over a couple cities and didn't have enough juice to take more than that. Then I got that random event in HT and pretty much stopped caring so much. I figured, ok, I have HT, he has BC, we're about even. Then we were fine for a long time; the only other time I got worried was when I skipped Rifling to beeline AL, I was worried you might swing at me while I was still bogged down with goddamn Gawdzak and took out shitloads of loans to get to Infantry quicker.

Speaking of that, man, I wonder how much gold I loaned between T190 and T250 or so... I'm guessing it might be close to around 20k, maybe paying 4k-5k in interest? Took out loans to get to AL quicker, took out loans to get to rifling, took out loans to upgrade tons of high XP jans to infantries, took out loans to get to railroad, and then, by that point, my tech was starting to fall behind so I took out even more loans to get to destroyers. IIRC at one point I was paying something like 1200gpt just to Krill, and I also loaned money off of BGN, TBS, Aztecs, and dtay at various points... maybe others that I can't even remember... lol I wonder if anyone in any other game has gone quite so deep into debt as I did?

Come on, man, I don't even warrant a tldr?

And it's hardly keeping it in the dark to put a game in completed after it's, y'know, completed. It's all there for anyone masochistic enough to want to come and see.

Gotta say, the loaning minigame was one of the areas I found most interesting about having such a massive game. Particularly since everyone involved seemed pretty happy about the results.

That was written before the sky-pillaging actually, though it was posted afterwards. crazyeye

Yeah, definitely, and same thing for me actually. It was only after BGN destroyed my first building that I realised that would be possible. I'm not sure how I would have played differently. But I was never really worried about stopping you landing troops, I certainly would have tried to control the sea more if I could. The most obvious change would be to do a better RR network. Something I had thought I had done a good job on beforehand. But forcing spies to slog 3 tiles a turn over to BC at least would have helped.

Quote:I did enjoy fencing with you hugely, but would have preferred a toroid map to make things easier wink, we were 10ish turns ahead of you on tech, but then it took about ten turns to get anything we built over to you troll. The exception was our bombers - I wish Joey hadn't gifted you those SAM Infantry as I thought with the bombers and some highly promoted Tanks we *might* have been able to chew through your coastal defences. As I said elsewhere you seemed to have an answer to everything we threw at you so I wonder how you'd have countered that...

Indeed, that late game war was fun. toast

I never intended to hold my coast tbh. If you had got sufficient force to get a favourable exchange against my coastal defenders I planned to just retreat and give up those cities. My main invasion worry was you beelining Modern Armour, investing heavily in it and landing a massive stack. That would have made for interesting times. nod

GJ:

From my point of view, my cities were aggressive only because your's were in the first place. wink In BC's case, I popped borders immediately because I had the workboat timed for the fish, but I left you the forests as a sign of good faith. I think Fallenstar's resources were actually closer to my capital, though I didn't know it at the time. But I felt I could use my trait advantage to hold them and I didn't think it would push us into a war. Though maybe if I had known you didn't have another land neighbour I wouldn't have done that, hard to tell.
