First off, welcome to our thread Wyrmsbane!
I don't mind alliances personally, as they are an inevitable by-product of a game this large. It just happens.
I would still be very reticent on entering into an alliance until the other team/teams have proven good faith to our civ.

Are you considering scouting out to try and find more civ's and therefore get more early allies?
I can't speak for the other members of the team, but I don't really care about alliances or tech blocs or what have you. I'm willing to play the hand I am dealt, and I accept that people will almost always do whatever is in their best interests. Or, at least, what they believe is in their own best interests. Attempting to regulate such things will cause a bigger mess than what you had in the first place, I think.
I'd like us to scout more, but our schedule is tight, and we need all current warriors for defense and sentry duty.

Thanks for reply. From curiousity, what is your avatar of? It is puzzling me.

Turn Rolled
Well Novice's move into the forest last turn revealed pigs 2 south of the corn. But its jungled. WTH? I have to think my initial thought of Sulla jungling key resources to promote teching to Iron Working quickly to promote warfare was more accurate than I thought! He is now set to healing.
We had our 'changing of the guard' in Genesis, with warrior 3 now on his way to 'Watchman Hill'. We are set to build Settler as planned, with Genesis currently working the optimum 2 tiles for production.
Worker was moved to a plains hill in anticipation of mining it next turn.
Most teams have ended turn so it may not be too much longer before another report!

This, my friend, is Omega. Omega Zero. The most psychotic, megalomanic, and bloodthirsty killing machine ever created. Hell, his battle cry is "I am the Messiah!" (Followed by a maniacal laugh, of course.) And he will kill you.
On to the game itself: Looks good so far.

Hey, just a quick msg from me until later (bout 10pm).
Turn looks good, thanks for sorting it out TT. All moves are fairly standard for now i guess. As soon as he can safely move (i.e. when healed up) we need to move him to secure Exodus.
Next tech should be BRONZE WORKING as we need it for metal casting anyway and it will speed up early growth thru chopping PLUS we need to find out where metal is. There are lots of hills around our capital- what's the odds we have bronze already?
Wyrmsbane- they're a necessity in such a game. Diplomacy can easily be more important than pure skill in games such as this. IF we can secure friendship with Mali, then possibly we might need to move Exodus slightly east- perhaps onto the desert tile. We would lose the hill fortification and hammer bonus but at 2 tiles further east it's far less aggresive. We can then let them know, if they dont know already, about the pigs/corn site as a city in our direction.
We need to get a msg to Mali as soon as possible really. If someone can throw together a draft i'll take a look when i get back or if not, i'll write a draft then and post it here for your perusal.

Here's a very rough draft:
Quote:Friend Capac of Mali,
We thank you for your concern for our Warrior. Fortunately, he has survived to fight lions another day.
We have not yet met any civilizations besides yours, though we wonder how much longer that can last. It is certainly our hope that none of the more aggressive civilizations are nearby! Like you, we believe that cooperation between our two civilizations would be fruitful. We are sure that if we would be benefit from technology trades in the future.
As for the map, we seem to be thinking along similar lines. We think that we are in a modified Team Battleground map *insert details here*. The land that we've found so far is fairly harsh, but hopefully there are nice spots somewhere.

You can fill that last part in, of course. It needs some work, but that's basically how I'd go about answering their message.
As for city placement: I am of the "break some eggs" school of diplomacy. Making friends is important, but we shouldn't give up a good city site at this stage of the game just because we want to make nice. If you are serious about going for an Oracle > Metal Casting > Pyramid scheme, Kyan, you must be dedicated and ruthless. Otherwise, we might as well settle somewhere else.
Eggs.
Break them.
Rinse. Maybe repeat.

Ok agreed. Let's do it. I'll send the email in a sec, adding the extra team BG map info.
Thanks for the draft. For some reason i'm very excitable about the game tonite. There's a turn to play so i'll do it quick now (unless TT is already doing it) and give a full update.

Turn Rolled
Well nothing really special to report. Warrior 2 set to heal in Genesis, Worker started mining plains hill (4 turns until completion), and Warrior 3 continued on his merry way towards 'Watchman Hill'. Bronze Working was set to research.
Arguably the best news of the turn is that no animals appeared around Novice as he is healing.

A lot of teams have ended turn again, we may be lucky and get another turn tonight, I'll be up late tonight watching The Apprentice USA on BBC so I might catch the next turn.
EDIT: Too slow Ky!
