I wouldn't expect anyone to prioritize Moai over cities even at this cost, this from someone who highly values Moai cities. I would expect the Moai to go somewhere around cities 7-10, depending on the amount of land available. The reduction in cost may slide this up sooner, but truly this is not a reason to delay settling what is otherwise going to be contested land because you can always build the Moai later. Even 18 Moai-improved coast tiles are still going to be worse on average than a full BFC city on grass/plains with adequate food for growth. But Joey is right in that one of the major benefits is the absence of worker turns needed for this city to grow and become useful. Moai cities tend to be very valuable production/tech hybrids through the midgame and can end up producing a significant chunk of navy (for example) from a location that is otherwise possibly very marginal. But having the Moai earlier is not better than having 1-2 cities in contested land.

Well sure, no reason to build the Moai *now*, on T56. But we'll definitely see Ind civs with completed Moais before T80 civ I bet, and its likely a mistake for any non-Ind civ to not have it before T100. I mean, its freaking 66 hammers with stone - it's not even a single settler.

Yes. This I agree with. Ind will move it up the build queue a bit but there is still the possibility of opportunity cost. Is that 2/3 settler critical for a settling race even for the ind civ? Probably not but who knows. The value in Moai is somewhat delayed because you have to grow the city constantly to maximize the benefit. I'm guessing with the rapid tech rate that calendar resources will come early enough to see those size 14+ Moai cities early enough that someone will want to prioritize. And for good reason. But still, I wouldn't do anything except throw down new cities until the free land had been settled.

Hmm, Krill's got some good neighbours and a lot of land but he's really sacrificed development for that. It will be interesting to see how he keeps up with the faster civs who go a-conquering. Maybe the favourite tag was a bit premature.
Dtay is developing nicely but both AT and Ichabod look like solid neighbours to bite through. Maybe Molach's Gallic warrior plans will give him an opening.
Taotao/mack and Serdoa/Noble both seem to be doing well and I guess both will be looking at Donovan's lands after his slow start. Then they border each other though ...
No real info on plako, though he might be competing with Comm for the Pyramids.
There are a bunch of other people doing nicely but they still have to show they can make a breakthrough.
Is there any interest in one of the PB18-style lurker reports showing each player on the map and their respective populations/other useful info? I thought those were pretty neat post-game.

Pitboss 18 redux. Dtay played solid opening but failed to turn a tech lead into land. Krill expanded a bit too much, was out of possition when whosit and CheaterHater were promed for conquest.
Serdoa's FP/corn/gold city is nuts, for that plainshill for a palace in the near term. If he doesnt tech archery though, it'll be donovan's palace instead... Donovan has a aggressive streak, and I believe he.ll take the shot with impis.

I'll still be surprised if Krill doesn't win. Weak neighbors, excellent borders, land about as good as everyone else (which is to say, amazing). He's also of course an extremely strong player.

From DZ's thread: They have it covered and DZ knows it.
