[SPOILERS!] Pericles of Babylon. Kyan, Twinkletoes, Whosit.

When is it that you guys have these conversations, and why am I not invited? :P

Very rough calculation forthcoming:

Mined Gold = 7 Commerce.
New City Costs ~= 3.

Total Costs ~= 6.

Income: 21+

Income to beakers ~= 15.

OK, so the Gold site will probably pay for itself once it's up and running. Not the strongest site, but we can make due, I guess.

I'd: Chop in a Granary, pasture Cows, mine gold. Maybe lay down some cottages just so it will pull in more cash.

Also, connecting our cities via roads will bring in a couple of coins. In fact, all we need to do is lay a road down 1NE of Exodus. Oh, and connect Genesis to the river, as well. Forgot we weren't on it. duh

Iron Working would be nice to get access to the Silver, but that's not really a priority tech for us. Hopefully we can actually meet some other civs soon to make this Alphabet diversion work.

Copper is perfectly placed. In Exodus' second ring and on our side rather than Mali's. Makes Exodus a useful hybrid city after all!

In other news, Novice defeated his FOURTH lion.

Upon hearing this news, Simba king of the lions brought the whole pride down on Novice's location, or as they called him in feline-tongue- Lionbane

He has good odds on this lion though so fingers crossed he should hit double promotion next turn! If he does we might want to consider being more careful with him and saving him as potential upgrade material for heroic epic etc.

OK, I'm back. And with a completely crazy, totally insane idea: Build the Temple of Artemis.

How will this help us and why would we want to do it? Well, the ToA actually produces Great Merchants points. Great Merchants can bulb Metal Casting (so long as we do not research Mathematics!). Then we might theoretically be able to pop a Great Engineer . . . theoretically.

Problems: ToA also gives a Priest, so we'll only have a 40% shot at Merchant. Also, as I just realized, our Engineer would not be a sure-shot, either. Still, it's a possibility, and MC isn't a bad tech on its own.

We would need: Pottery, Masonry, Mysticism, and Polytheism. It's very risky, but who is going to race for the ToA?

Kyan had a more reasonable plan: Tech Pottery, Writing, Alphabet, and then probably Aesthetics, going for the Great Library sooner rather than later. Much safer plan, quite possibly smarter, but it's dull! lol

So, we're tossing it to you, TT. Kyan doesn't seem to think we have a shot at the Oracle anymore, and I have no reason to disbelieve him. I'm grasping at straws, but this is a shot at Metal Casting, and a very small shot at Pyramids via Great Engineer.
