I don't know if this is a right place, but does it really matter. Pinpointing the MTDG game was a bad idea, but I surely want to know about these kind of possibilities. This kind of information should be publicly available to all. After that it would just be one factor when setting up the game to take into account.

So far nothing has gotten out of hand, so I don't see any need to close it on account of flames.

I just wish I understand monte carlo statistics (which is sad because I used them in my degree 2 years ago...)

Yes, you indeed are right, I think. I hadn't thought everything through well enough the first time around - thanks. We should indeed have discussions which are as open as possible.

I think that as this thread continues, then we should no longer talk/argue/discuss about what may or may not have happened in the MTDG. However, I do think [however clumsily the opportunity might have been provided] that there is now fortuitously plenty of opportunity to discuss general issues of significance.

To highlight:

- Peoples' experiences [provided anonymously if desired] with this kind of stuff in MP?
- What do you really want from the developers in terms of game/code development?
- In general, what are the best routes for conflict resolution?
- Further applications of this kind of philosophy e.g. MP's expenses, the terms of debate in the upcoming UK General Election?
The actions of bankers? Optimizing solutions to the Economic Crisis?
Economic theory applied to climatology (e.g. a small improvement on 'The Sceptical Environmentalist' by Bjorn Lomborg) ?

Yes, I am indeed high but it is under control. ( just requires a little bit of mirtazpine & lamotrigine ... and probably some common sense and readings of the scientific literature wrt light/dark/chronorhythms and maybe some useful stuff from a few other branches of science { fish-oil, anyone ??? } ) . Please refer to the clinical differences between mania & hypomania if you are concerned [ in particular, I believe that I retain insight, which is not the usual case in these matters] . I've been high for a while, and it is fine ...

[I am indeed consulting a psychiatrist IRL. For further insights read 'The Unquiet Mind' , an autobiographical memoir by Kay Redfield Jamison - it's a very creative/entertaining/literary/gripping book, even if you have no personal concern in these matters.
{ vive les rings of Saturn...}. I am more than happy to provide other book recommendations if anyone is interested. I strongly disbelieve in codes of silence on these kinds of matters, and I view many other matters in the same way. {possibly some of this may help explain people some of my previous actions/viewpoints...} ]

Just to (re?-)mention - the colourful post is the most initially attractive one to the impartial observer. But the * Shrugs * post is equally relevant wrt all of the important matters.

Anyway, however much I may have fiddled about with colours and smillies, my colour-post did indeed deal logically with serious points. (but even while dealing with serious stuff, then why not take a little inspiration from Monty Python's Life Of Brian? - 'always look on the bright side of life'. N.B. it is interesting to note that a fairly high percentage of comedians suffer from manic depression - e.g. Stephen Fry, Spike Milligan, etc. etc. too.). I'm more than happy to explain further any logic about whatever if anyone requests it.

Tragedy -------> Comedy ! ?

This Is Life .
