Zalson, when you say:
Quote:1. Loading CIV4 BTS in the most recent (steamworks play) version will take a long time. Make sure that you're using the "BETA/Original Release" version of Civ4 BTS to ensure you can create a Direct IP connnection. Instructions here: http://support.2k.com/hc/en-us/articles/...-on-Steam. Original release will load quickly. I'm a little confused about the difference between this version and the Beyond the Sword that I bought on Steam and can download through Wine (i.e., though PlayOnMac). What you are referring to is the vanilla Civilization IV game. Do I need install that on my emulated Steam? I thought installing Beyond the Sword itself would be sufficient. Also, just to be clear, you did not use PlayOnMac here? I'm asking because I am attempting to go through the same process myself of getting RtR to work on my Mac 10.11 laptop. I've documented some of my current steps in case they match what you were trying to do. PS: The link above doesn't seem to work. Here's the correct one, I believe. (You added a period at the end.) http://support.2k.com/hc/en-us/articles/...d-on-Steam
In order to play Pitboss via Direct IP connection, you'll need to install the Beta/Original Release version of Beyond the Sword via emulated steam. It's not a large file, fortunately.
While Vanilla CIV and BTS CIV are obviously different games in your steam library, you'll need to update whichever version you want to use for PitBoss to be the "beta" version. Sorry it wasn't clear earlier, I did use PlayOnMac to get this working. Thanks for catching the typo. I'll fix that in the post. I'll head on over to your thread and will confirm that your steps are correct so far there. |
