Yeah, I just have to sit ehre and twiddle my thumbs...nah, I'll pester India, Aztecs and HRE for as long as possible so that I know what is happening.
The plan post Oracle is just massively up in the air...it depends on what sort of military units I need, if I have copper anywhere...how much I want to slave and how much I want to chop. I could easily stack up 2 unhappiness in AM, even 3 if I wanted to, only takes me 9 worker turns to hook up the silver, and I have furs readily available, and I might even luck on a free religion spread. I have 21 forests to chop in both cities fat crosses, and only 3 workers ready to do that, and DM is caught between pumping out a GP and growing. So is AM, come to that, I could easily pump out 2GP if I really wanted to asap (CoL etc). Then I need to decide how fast I want to push out new cities, and how I want to defend them. For instance, I could easily set it up to plant cities 3 and f around t66 (and make one of them another holy city), but I'd be going low on workers. But if I slaved AM a second time (first slave would be for a settler), then I could probably get out the fourth worker quite easily. Only problem is I couldn't defend either of the cities that well... I could do so much it is unreal. I think the only thing I want to happen 100% of the time is to make DM a double holy city (Judaism as the second). That means I can't settle city 3 until turn 69. In that amount of time I can slave/chop out an extra 3 workers (well, 3 in 4 turns actually), and I could even get a settler out of DM with a few chops. I suppose now is the time to run the permutations...
So, new world map from Portugal...only as links, the screenies are massive, for some reason.

Rome Wrote:In the light of this event SsS have decided to officially withdraw our desire to join your alliance, despite our already having finished a draft of terms for our membership, as the behaviour displayed by DJ is not one that we wish to be associated with. Should there come a time when DJ is excluded, or their honor restored, SsS will then again be open to discuss a membership. Until then we shall look for trading partners elsewhere, and will make sure to be prepared to put up a fight in case the alliance decides to come after us in the manner you have decided to operate under. We honestly believe that it is a shame that we do not get to work closely with Cath Bruig, as we appreciated your recent change of tone and saw a lot of potential in our relationship as our empires would be able to complement each others nicely, but we simply do not wish to be part of an alliance where the word of senior members cannot be trusted. It does, once again, make us doubt the alliance's true intentions of working with SsS.
Well, pictures from the turn, and then on towards the diplomacy. I see there are bears still about, which is annoying, I want the strength 3 barbs to sod off :D
Below is Carthage. I'm heading straight NE, and have offered OB to Carthage now. Damned barb popped up in the worst possible location, but I still win 3 out of every 4 battles, and then I get a promotion. Praise to the RNG... Damned bears, I moved SE and saw a hole load of nothing. Picture next turn of hte updated area...
Diplomacy...start with the bad stuff. From Carthage:
Quote:Krill, I might have to rush out that settler. Quickest I could get it settled would be t66, and I would have to be chopping DM, and stacking workers on unroaded forests, and start the settler this turn (minus 2 forests). Not pretty. Other option would to grow and slave DM, settled t66 with a single forest chop, DM size 2, minus 1 forest but most of the monument, or 1 extra warrior. Slaved out of AM, fastest I could get the city settled would be t68. Decisions decisions. I don't normally have this many forests left at this stage of the game. I'd prefer to go with the Settler out of DM now, but tbh, I think the plains hill sheep+horse cite is too aggressive, but I'm not sure if Carthage would "let" me have the sheep tile, which is all I want. Provided I can settle for the hseep and one fur, I'm happy. Carthage probably won't be, what with having no food for their horse city, but IMO it doesn't need that much food as it isn;t a site I'd ever want to slave; chop a granary at size 1, work 3 farms and then the horse on the way to max size, and then work the remainder of hte river grassland tiles as cottages. Then once it is at max size, cottage over the farms and slow grow it to size 20 for the rest of the game. It'll still be a mega commerce city. Quote:Krill, That is damned fast to maths...So fast, I'm reconsidering forest chopping...I could easily work on just slaves for the mean time, and prep the area for massive deforestation come t70 (I can reach 5 workers with just a single 2 pop slave IMO), and 3 workers is enough to keep up with growth, while 2 other workers prep the area...
There is some other diplo about getting India towards Carthage and England...uninteresting one liners, no point in posting them. The other interesting position is the Incans v Aztecs war, and proposed alliance inclusion. So far it seems like India thinks Inca will take the offer, but I'm not sure: I'll believe it when I get a forwarded email saying they accept.
Also, HRe are trying to get France into a chat, but I'm not sure if they've managed to do that just yet, the football yesterday much have made it slightly difficult
Message to Carthage:
Quote:Mr. Nice Guy,
Or...just realised, I could build a fourth worker from DM right now. It won't be ready to move until t64...but I can work with that. I basically forget about the early GP for a shrine from DM (get one t88 from AM though, not too shabby), but it gives me that little bit of flexibility with early chopping. I can easily chop 2 forests at both cities...which gives me the granary in both, or 2 WC, plus the easy slaving...
Hmm. Tricksey...I like that worker idea. Worst case scenario, if i want to make sure I get Theo, then I just get the Obelisk in AM, and work a priest for 3 turns. And damn it, I have the hammer spare...
I think I'm going to go with the fourth worker. I'm not going to be able to push out all of the GP, so better focus on getting to 4-5 cities, and building up. And with 4 workers chopping, I can mass WC pretty quickly if I have to.
Also wondering on the slaving. I can get out the settler and a WC guard to plant a city by t69 without any real trouble, if I get that fourth worker... |
