(11:32:35 PM) Luff_hi: we both wanted the same city location and couldn't agree to terms
(11:32:54 PM) Luff_hi: it will be his immortals v my protective archers
(11:32:54 PM) de krill of Fronce: That close to each other?
(11:32:59 PM) Luff_hi: yes
(11:33:00 PM) de krill of Fronce: wow
(11:33:08 PM) de krill of Fronce: go choke his horse and no problem...
(11:33:25 PM) de krill of Fronce: Hopefully you have copper near by...
(11:33:42 PM) Luff_hi: I am not even sure if he has horses
(11:34:13 PM) Luff_hi: but if he does - they are on the other side of our island - his city is on a 1 tile wide section so I would have to kill his city to choke his horses
(11:35:14 PM) de krill of Fronce: Shit man, that is tight.
(11:35:49 PM) de krill of Fronce: Do you know if he has seafood or not? I suppose if he does then there is little opint in choking him...
(11:35:49 PM) Luff_hi: yeah - either way, it will be fun
(11:36:09 PM) de krill of Fronce: Yup, we are all going to rethink our tactics. Should be fun
(11:36:34 PM) Luff_hi: the Serian doctrine will get a very good workout on this map
(11:36:48 PM) de krill of Fronce: I don;t even know what that is...
(11:36:52 PM) Luff_hi: good
(11:37:00 PM) de krill of Fronce: just a great big SoD of ships?
(11:37:14 PM) Luff_hi: forget I even mentioned it lol
(11:38:00 PM) de krill of Fronce: OK, all forgotten...
OK Ruff, np on that...just please forget that I was an MP player, and one of the best at Future and Modern era games, so I kinda know how naval warfare works...

(11:47:50 PM) Luff_hi: right - immortals v protective archers is really fair
(11:48:19 PM) Luff_hi: or is he a young'n?
(11:48:26 PM) de krill of Fronce: Depends if he has horse. He might not have many land tiles for one to be on
(11:48:59 PM) Luff_hi: actually - I was rolling up a few maps like this and there were no horses at all
(11:49:08 PM) Luff_hi: bet t-hawk put one in for him
(11:49:15 PM) de krill of Fronce: Meh, age doesn;t matter, but I don;t think he is as experienced as anyone else in the game. Maybe a bit more so than Squareleg, but not like he has been in any great scraps before
(11:49:37 PM) de krill of Fronce: Well, that would be entertaining
(11:49:46 PM) de krill of Fronce: You'd have a big advantage if there were no horses
(11:49:51 PM) Luff_hi: totally
(11:49:57 PM) Luff_hi: but only on the defensive
(11:51:00 PM) de krill of Fronce: no flanking cats though
(11:51:24 PM) Luff_hi: cats?
(11:51:33 PM) Luff_hi: how long do you think this stand off will last?
(11:52:03 PM) de krill of Fronce: depends when you plant the city between you
(11:52:07 PM) de krill of Fronce: if it is on a hill
(11:52:11 PM) de krill of Fronce: a one tile choke opint
(11:52:19 PM) de krill of Fronce: and can get culture into it
(11:52:29 PM) Luff_hi: yes, yes, yes and yes
(11:52:35 PM) Luff_hi: it will depend on all of that
(11:52:51 PM) de krill of Fronce: If you have none and he has horses, you are probably screwed
(11:53:30 PM) Luff_hi: well - if it go out in a blaze of glory, then so be it
(11:53:52 PM) Luff_hi: (there should be an 'is
(11:53:55 PM) Luff_hi: is
(11:54:00 PM) Luff_hi: 'is' in there somewhere)
(11:54:09 PM) de krill of Fronce: Don't be so pessimistic. You could always try a quick galley raid and drop archers off the other side of his cap to paralyze it
(11:54:31 PM) Luff_hi: true - I knew I picked up sailing for a reason

I've been pretty lax in talking about this game, but there isn;t alot to say, other than I finally got a game with lots of food...but no other decent tiles to work. makes a change, at least. Anyone want to guess where I'm going to plant the second city? Borders popped last turn and showed me the clam and copper, so I'm still thinking about it. I'm overflowing 19 hammers into Henge, and chopping that to completion in about 3 more turn...

I have to run.

That was the original though (but I wasn't going to bother chopping the forest). Now I'm not so sure. I'mcompletely reconsidering the dot map right now...because I can settle for the pigs/clams/copper site, remove a useless desert, and have exactly as many sea tiles as the 3W site (more coastal, as well). And the fish can be used by a city 3S1W of Poris, allowing for lots of MM with the food resources.
I'm liking the map, it's giving me lots of options, instead of being forced to plant 1 food/city.

Chat with Yaz.
Quote:(10:49:30 PM) de krill of Fronce: How goes the war btw?
(10:49:42 PM) Yaz: Spooky as can be
(10:49:50 PM) de krill of Fronce: Spooky?
(10:50:09 PM) Yaz: Have a warrior camped outside my gate right now. He makes funny noises during the night.
(10:50:27 PM) de krill of Fronce: Something sneaking up on you in the dark, maybe?
(10:50:54 PM) Yaz: Maybe, haven't been getting much sleep due to it.
(10:51:20 PM) de krill of Fronce: What, you or the warrior?
(10:51:40 PM) Yaz: :P
(10:52:25 PM) Yaz: Anyways will be interesting to see how it all turns out. At least it's more interesting then just building up like the rest of you haha
(10:52:44 PM) de krill of Fronce: Ah, you'd be surprised...
(10:52:50 PM) de krill of Fronce: you got a second city out yet, or no?
(10:53:40 PM) Yaz: I'll stick with my answer from yesterday
(10:53:59 PM) de krill of Fronce: Can't remember what yuo said
(10:54:04 PM) Yaz: All the better
(10:54:05 PM) de krill of Fronce: Lots of diplo since then...
(10:54:23 PM) Yaz: Must be nice to have people wanting to talk to ya lol
(10:54:33 PM) de krill of Fronce: FWIW, you and Squareleg have a massive advantage over the rest of us, only having this game...
(10:54:44 PM) de krill of Fronce: actually, it gets out of hand quite easily
(10:55:16 PM) Yaz: bah it's not like this game has been taking any time at all yet at least.
(10:56:22 PM) Yaz: Already had about an extra two weeks worth of breaks before even turn 30 to plan things out
(10:56:44 PM) Yaz: So you planted your second city yet?
(10:57:14 PM) de krill of Fronce: Next turn
(10:58:22 PM) Yaz: Not bad. Miss your expansive & imperialistic traits?
(10:58:57 PM) de krill of Fronce: Not really. I've played enough games with every triat to know how to abuse it
(10:59:14 PM) de krill of Fronce: I'm liking the fact that every civ in the game is one without a fast trait
(10:59:31 PM) de krill of Fronce: it is making the game somewhat more fun because we can play more...unorthodox strategies for once
(11:00:03 PM) Yaz: Wait, other people have strategies? :P
(11:00:15 PM) de krill of Fronce: What, not like I have a monopoly on them
(11:01:18 PM) Yaz: My strategy is basically summed up by 'live' right now. Play each turn as it comes. Anything else was thrown out the window when Ruff decided he wanted the island to himself.
(11:01:50 PM) de krill of Fronce: Well, if yuo can get horses you should be able to turn the tables on him quite easily
(11:03:40 PM) Yaz: Except that even if I did my UU is pretty easily countered by spears and thanks to the lay of the land and where his warrior is I'm cut off from the majority of the island now.
(11:04:18 PM) de krill of Fronce: Archer rush him, you know you want to...
(11:04:26 PM) de krill of Fronce: or you could do a galley end around
(11:04:31 PM) Yaz: lol if only I had archery, or sailing
(11:04:39 PM) de krill of Fronce: I wonder what you were teching...
(11:05:04 PM) Yaz: You should know considering you were one of the ones pushing me down that weird monarchy path.
(11:05:29 PM) Yaz: Anyways i gotta go get some 'chores' done. Cya
(11:05:36 PM) de krill of Fronce: cya mate

New overview of my lands Henge just finished in Lands Start, and I landed Hinduism into Viewpoint. Now this is what I was thinking:
LS: Warrior>Oracle (1chop, finish t39)>slaved forge>worker
VP: wb(fish)>wb(clams, slave t36)>slaved granary (2pop)> wb/warrior>settler
Reason for the wb slave is it hooks the clams the turn VP regrows to size 2, and I can carry the unhappiness easily with a happy cap of 6 already, 7 once I revolt religions at somepoint in the future.
Research: Preisthood(eot t33)>pottery(eot t38 )>AH or IW.
So, I have a second city after Darrell, but before Yaz, or Squareleg, and possible before Dreylin and Ruff. I'm happy with that, as I'm doing a rather nuts wonder building plan, and I need to figure out a way to get some land based scouting up to the NW, and get out those work boats, hook up those gems and start dealing with the barb warriors (but only 2 ways into my land makes that quite easy). I'm really looking forward to this game, it's got it's twists and turns, but no where near the hard work of RBPB3.

And about the Oracle: I have 5 competitors, 2 of whom are at war (Ruff and Yaz). Yaz said he will research Monarchy to trade, so he could try to Oracle it, but I kinda doubt that now Darrell has agreed to let me have it provided I gift him MC, which leaves Squareleg, who is beelining Alpha, and Dreylin. I only have to deal with a possible Dreylin shot, which is possible considering he went with an early religion, but he also needs to grow, so I'm not sure he will be able to dedicate himself to building a 100 hammer wonder.
I feel confident I can get Oracle, only 9 turns to go...
Any questions? Oh, and I could do with some themes for workers and units, etc.

What will Viewpoint overflow to from the workboat slave at turn 36?

About 8-10 hammers depending on working the forest or pig for a few turns, so either warrior to scout, half a workboat, or quarter of the granary...which would mean I could slave the granary for 1 pop at size 3, meaning I could get out something via a double slave at size 4 about 3-4 turns sooner.
Small decision, but it comes down to how highly I value the exploration.
