Was the Govorner enabled: we had a similar case in the Poly game when a granary was 'magically' whipped in spite of no-one admitting to making the whip. Think it was a known bug. Krill might be able to shed some light on it.

Capital pop decreased to 12 which is why I think it whiped. But if you look at civstats when I played my turn there was no score decrease to signify a whip

FWIW I'm not sure, but the governor is the most likely.

I never enable the goveners I checked and apparently the production button was on but would that autowhip? losing 5 pop hurts frown

Auto-production seems to be the only reasonable answer.

Yes auto-production will whip.

I actually use it fairly often in big single-player games. Though I use BetterAI mod there, which does a bit better job at it.

As a bit of a random aside...

Is anyone else feeling a bit inhibited about how open the spoiler threads are? It's always felt a bit uncomfortable discussing current diplomacy, wonders, war plans etc etc. I.e. all the interesting bits. It's really very easy for other players to access, even by accident just clicking on the wrong thread.

There's no-one here in particular that I'm worried about, but with a bit more peace of mind about confidentiality I think it would make it easier to write freely and in more detail.

Is there anything straightforward and sensible we could do about that, e.g. restrict access to the spoiler threads to registered users only or something; (and do the threads then tell you who the most recent visitors were or anything like that, or can it be logged)?

Sorry if this sounds a bit mistrustful. Obviously there are always going to be ways around things like that, but I think just a little bit more care about who can read what might help to make some of the spoiler threads (including mine!) a lot more interesting...

Thoughts? Anything like this easily do-able?

At some level, you have to trust players not to cheat. Having read just about all of PB1 and PB2's threads over the months, I've seen 0 evidence that any of the players knows more than they should (and with most teams in the hundreds of posts, their ability to keep track of what they should or shouldn't know becomes impossible). Not having access to PB3, well, I'm going to have to trust the lurker community there.

If someone wanted to cheat, they could either log off & read anonymously, or create a 2nd account (and unless IP addresses are being closely watched on everybody, good luck catching that).

If you make the spoiler threads opt-in to look at, like the CFC MTDG did, then you've put rather large barriers to lurker participation, and that's been part of the charm of these games, as well as creating an administrative nightmare for the admins. So, let's see, each player has to log into their own thread, but the lurkers get to log into every thread...times 31 living team threads across the three games...

If you're worried about teams mis-clicking, well, it has happened in PB3, but players have come forward when they've done so, and realize their mistakes before any real damage is done. Also, many players use some combination of shortcuts + e-mail notification or other methods to minimize the risk of mis-clicks. Mis-clicks shouldn't be your concern.

While I agree with what Cyneheard says he doesn't really address your question. smile

I guess you could do your spoiler reporting with a third party weblog provider where you can password protect the content, and then post a username and password in your RB spoiler thread, or provide it to lurkers who request it via PM.

Not exactly an ideal solution, just trying to be constructive here. smile
I have to run.
