Actually I got divorced last year, so I can do basically anything I want now. A turn on shrooms feels about right ...

Yeah, seriously. It was a rough year but got through it. Most importantly, kids are doing fine (better than before, its not easy to live in a stressful house). Getting used to being single in South Florida .

Well I was in Pensacola last year. I know first hand how difficult that challenge can be...
Good to hear the kids are doing better. Hope you are still getting to spend time with them?

Theoretically anyone going Fishing>Myst>Poly will beat us going Fishing>Hunting>Poly, but no one in their right mind is going to pick double food/mining techs and then go for religion. Everyone is going for expansion uber alles.
This puts us in a position to figure out what we need for Oracle>Aesthetics. The largest risk is losing Oracle. Need to consider necessary techs. Minimum techs would then by Priesthood>Writing. Important techs would be Mining>BW, Wheel>Pottery and AH, Archery. Masonry only makes sense if marble is available, but would then merely require improving the marble then just chopping out Oracle with no fancy MM required (need extra 20 hammers ie overflow from worker or settler whip). More important to identify 3 most important city locations and focus on growing them large, to be able to reach size 7-9 and then pump out everything we need. The capital can reach 20 foodhammers per turn at size 6 once the second hill can be mined after the forest chop. The rest are easy cottages. A granary saves over 65 food on growth from size 4>8 so makes sense to stagnate the capital at size 4 and try to finish the granary with a whip to size 3 then straight regrowth, trying to use cottages to shove along tech rather than spend the extra food just growing without the granary. The only reason to grow the hard way is if we omit pottery, and we probably have to grab wheel anyway to hook cities for passive spread of religion and safety.
So with Pottery as a probable, BW is also a given due to chopping and whipping. Question is order. If those two are a given, I don't see how we can easily afford AH and Archery, so I figure we have to be very careful with Oracle, especially if someone turns around and picks IND.

All in all, I stopped giving a shit a while ago. I'm just going to try and make this work.
Lush would be not having to choose between plains sheep and sharing grass cows with the capital or just having grass pigs and no sharing. If the script is Donut then I'd imagine there should be at least one good spot nearby, but getting dry rice and crabs everywhere certainly isn't impossible

This won't be a donut map for the reasons Mardoc stated on civ distances.
I imagine it's going to be a variant of the PBEM7/PB29 map. A ring of land, and some islands. The ring of land wrapping between one and three times around at least one of the axes of the map. That actually requires either handcrafting, or more reasonably copy/pasting from a torus world mapscripts that produces chunks.of land of very small dimensions ie 20x20 to form the band then editting the coast line and resources. Islands are a piece of piss to hand draw, just have to count tiles and resources for each area to cover that is split between players, as areas can be split between anything from 2 players to everyone depending on how the land wraps.
Mardoc also knows that low food maps are inherently less interesting and more difficult to balance.
