So, I've started work on figuring out what everyone owes for hte tech trades earlier on. I've tried it both with and without taking into account the ancient era techs, but I feel that we should take them into account. The problem? That Portugal ends up owing like 400 gold in total, and no useful tech for them to research save maybe Compass. Everything else is being researched:
Mali - Calendar (once they get Sailing)
Babylon - Currency (once they get Maths)
Maya - Metal Casting (how did I luck out and get 3 other teams to tech those for me?)
Egypt - CoL, and Theo (only England knows of the bulb plan).
England - Monarchy
India - Aesthetics
Carthge - Construction
oh, and fwiw...if I were to not receive Monarchy, and waited for someone to research CoL, I could bulb most of CS with a GP. Yeah, that old loophole that let you not research masonry and bulb CS works, but when you can trade for and bulb the remainder techs it is still something that could be powerful in the right circumstances.
You know what, I'm just going to make p the gold amounts and see what flies. Better that than pissing off the teams that have done little research and have trashed economies, considering that I'm going to get the CAN to break by t80.

It does? I was pretty sure that Masonry was moved ahead of CS in the Great Prophet bulb preference list, the change happened in either Warlords or BTS. A GP will always go up Masonry-Monotheism-Theology-Divine Right before Civil Service.

Yup. And I'm doing that anyway Getting a GP from Dunmanifestin in 8 more turns, and then another GP from AM from the Oracle, obelisk and temple...but here is the list. It has some amazing stuff, if you really wanted to pull out the crazy style playbook.
Meditation - traded
Polytheism - researched
Priesthood - researched
Monotheism - researched
Theology - bulbed
Divine Right - needs Monarchy
Mysticism - researched
Masonry - traded
Code of Laws - bulbed
Civil Service - Well waddya know?
Monarchy - Could trade for
Literature - this could be an awesome way to win the GL, if only I had marble.
Music - ? Easy way to get a GA if I need one
Writing - researched
Philosophy - England bulb
Printing Press - boring...but need machinery, remember this
Drama - waste
Aesthetics - India
Alphabet - oracled
Paper - hmmm, this is looking like a perverted Lib beeline here...
Education - yup, this could be one sick beeline
Liberalism - oh wow. If only I didn't have all of those shrines to make...this would be it.
Calendar - Mali
Animal Husbandry - researched
Construction - Construction
Future Tech - hehe

Looks like I screwed up, AM is unhappy at size 3...had to work a hill and not the sheep to get the warrior out end of the turn. Also, Lancre is out and settled, and down to 4 gpt as I'm not working the gold.
Also, France did me a favour this turn...unbeknownst to them...

Reloads messed it about, now server is down. Not alot to say, other than currently bed ridden with possible kidney and or gastrointestinal infection and might have to go to hospital if I don't get better by the weekend. I seem to be improving, but doctor isn't taking any chances. No need to worry unduly, though. So I'm tbh I'm treating this as a time out from the game...I need it.
However, message from India:
Quote:Hey Krill,
Seems like things have gotten a bit quiet here. What with all the reloads and then sunrise's computer going on the fritz. But even before that, it seemed like we weren't talking as much. Over here in India, we just didn't know how to handle things without getting a Krill poke every day!!! :-D
If I was a paranoid sort, I'd be worried that you were angling for a way to take us out. I do think that it continues to make sense for the two of us to stick together, as we are collectively the biggest dogpile targets. Hopefully you feel the same way.
In talking things over, I think we'd like to agree to the prophet deal, where you give us 8gpt starting on the turn the prophet is born and ending on the turn you gift a scientist to us. A few questions on it - since neither of us have Currency, what kind of interest were you planning to pay till we are able to actually consummate the deal? Will you be escorting the GPs to/from your land? Do you have an ETA on the scientist - is it a guaranteed for your 200GP - if not, what happens if you don't pop a scientist next? Nothing too major - we like the deal in principle - just want to iron the details out.
The other thing we were hoping you might be able to help us out with was trying to meet Babylon and Mali. Since they are apparently providing important techs (Currency and Calendar I think?) we want to make sure to meet them ASAP. So if you know where their cities are or any scouting warriors are, that would be great. We have a warrior down near you, as well as a chariot to our west that just whacked the final Sumerian city.
Thanks and PARTY ON!

OK, still not 100%, but back posting. I don't really know what has been happening since I stopped posting, but otoh, about 5 turns have elapsed, England took out Lyons, I revolted back to Hinduism and to OR, chopped out a WC to go deal with the frigging barbs, and a monument in city 4. Got 3 workers mining my silver, then chopping out the temple/obilisk in AM, then...something or other?
I'm declaring war on France at the end of hte turn. I will use one WC@3.7+C1 to attack a 1.5 French warrior on a hill just next to Dunmanifestin @98.7% odds, and move inmy scouting WC that is next to Paris to threaten the city. England thinks France has a spear (would not surprise me, they got IW from Rome so they are already out of the alliance in their eyes), so my aim is to keep it in Paris while England goes and takes out Orleans. If the spear is not in Paris, and there is a lone warrior, go for the kill.
Only problem is that there is a Byz chariot (2.8 health) on the same tile as my chariot, so I have to make sure that I move last in the turn so that Byz can not sacrfice their chariot to damage mine, thus save paris because I can't get odds. I fully expect someone to bitch and moan about me going last, but whatever. I've tried to sort out the movement rules here but no one wants to deal with it, so now it's their problem IMO.
