Snake pick is boring. I would prefer any other option.

I don't want a snakepick either, for the reasons GJ stated. Adrien's method works for me.

I can make a version of the he mod with the need to the ikhanda, change to the Workboat in 5 minutes. I'd suggest making the village and town unpillageable, as in PB27 and leaving it at that.
Current games (All): RtR: PB80 Civ 6: PBEM23

Ended games (Selection): BTS games: PB1, PB3, PBEM2, PBEM4, PBEM5B, PBEM50. RB mod games: PB5, PB15, PB27, PB37, PB42, PB46, PB71. FFH games: PBEMVII, PBEMXII. Civ 6:  PBEM22 Games ded lurked: PB18

I cant get what lies behind unpillageable town? So if you have cottaged your only oil in early game you are doomed to live with it?

No, the mod also makes villages and towns hook all resources after iron.

The point is that third parties pillage towns to nothing in war, happens late game in every game.

Re picking, how about this variation of PB32 method:

- You are assigned 2 leaders + 1 civ
- max 2 rerolls (meaning 3 rounds in total)
- if you choose not to reroll (or can't anymore) you select one of your leaders to go with the civ
- You can reroll leaders, civ or both. TBD whether you can also select to roll only one of your leaders

Learning from the past, while random assignment of leader/civ pairings brings certain excitement, I guess it's more important that all the players start T0 with a setup they at least somewhat enjoy playing (I remember PB18 rolls forcing plako to play Louis again for a year). Snake pick would achieve that result, but I agree with everyone that the process would be terrible. Above suggestion is an attempt to improve one's chances of landing something fun while maintaining the random factor and keeping the picking phase short.

If we manage to get more players, then this method goes obsolete due to lack of unique leaders, but with the current lineup it should work.

I don't want snakepick either.

I would be fine with some variation of the reroll method.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to finalise the players now then?

Do we get to see our start before deciding on civ/leader pick/reroll?

Well, personally I think it's more fun to see the start as it leads to more interesting selection process so I would vote for it. I'm fine with whatever dtay as the game initiator decides though
