So what you say?
I was thinking something along the lines of quick speed again, but with a bit of spice, a 3v3 or a 2v2 for a change. Perhaps a late era start? Medi or Ren, for instance. Could be interesting.
One note though: AW games are hard and fast, no holds barred games, and you need to co-ordinate tightly with you team. Each team should be balanced, so if I were a new player I would be hesitant to join up. I know it isn't the ethos of RB, and that's why everyone is welcome, but this won't be a good game to learn the ropes with - if you are on my team you'd probably get very annoyed with me before the game even started.
Current games (All): RtR: PB80 Civ 6: PBEM23
Ended games (Selection): BTS games: PB1, PB3, PBEM2, PBEM4, PBEM5B, PBEM50. RB mod games: PB5, PB15, PB27, PB37, PB42, PB46, PB71. FFH games: PBEMVII, PBEMXII. Civ 6: PBEM22 Games ded lurked: PB18

I've seen enough normal pitboss/pbem games, but this sounds intresting. Can I join, even if my experience on later era starts is very limited?
Would this be run with "normal" ladder settings for teamers? TBG map, 2 city elimination...
What about using sequential turn pitboss, if we can find a host?

You guys know my views on Pitboss vs PBEM, and despite the double move controversy, I still can't fathom why one would choose PBEM. I also think if we want to play a 3v3 Ren game we should just meet in the lobby when we all have 2 hours free
But....I'm potentially interested in this game depending on settings, players, etc.

I was thinking either old school MP - inland sea 3v3 ren, only balancing is a map checker makes sure everyone has decent chance for strat resources and decent food, or maybe, if everyone was sure of themselves, a random/random game. Personally I'd love to play with a mod that changed settler costs back to ancient era costs and reinstated all of the old buildings, that would make modern and future fun to play again, but I've always been in the minority who thought future was fun to play anyway.
I was considering adding the no score mod in, but changing the tech bonus from other civs knowing a tech to zero, or the standard 30%, which was the reason PBEM seemed much simpler, and with a good crowd, they aren't any slower than pitboss games.

After rethought I'm not that intrested in playing in PBEM format, but pitboss would work for me. Sequential pitboss with ~24h timer would make sense, since as far as I know it should allow team members to play simultaneously. Obvivously this would also remove all double move issues and make it a bit different from normal MP game.
I'm alright with playing with a mod and inland sea ren.
What do you refer with random/random. Would this be surprise combination of leader and nation?

random leader, random civ, shuffle map, random era, 70% sea, temperate climate.

If we go Ren and Team 1 gets France and Byzantium and Team 2 gets Sumeria and Maya it's pretty much GG. I don't have any strong opposition to random leaders though...they can be unbalancing but less so IMHO. I can see everyone taking Random of Greece or some such thing.
Krill Wrote:Personally I'd love to play with a mod that changed settler costs back to ancient era costs and reinstated all of the old buildings, Agree, but if settlers are super cheap I might like some city elimination limit turned on. I agree that later-era settler costs are too high, but at anc level you can also get 10 cities in like 15 turns

Krill Wrote:and with a good crowd, they aren't any slower than pitboss games. This is my concern. Just speaking for me, I've been a very reliable Pitboss player, because I'll inconvenience myself to not pause or miss a turn. So playing really late, really early, in class, etc is all doable. But with PBEM my window is so much smaller. Every hour I don't play is an hour someone is waiting for the game, and there are sometimes blocks of hours when I just can't play.
