Epic One - Maniac's Report

I'm going to have to apologize in advance for this report. It didn't turn out the way I originally Intended it would. I lost a very large chunk of my stream of conciousness notes in a crash to restart... something I'd not experienced before playing epic one. I've located the cause of the crashes... for some reason Alt + Tab to return to the game from picture taking is not something my machine likes. It seems to be ok if I click the button on the bar however. Why in the world this makes any diffrence I can not begin to imagine.

I have not yet completed my post mortum with a "points total" (read on and it will all be explained), and screenies from the replay, but I do have my turnlog and screenshots right up until final victory ready to go, so I thought I'd go ahead and post those now. The post mortum section will be completed by me on monday or tuesday night. I'll make a post to reserve the spot.

BTW, with so large a chunk of my report missing the stream of conciousness stuff, I opted to just remove it all togeather. Again, not the report I intended to post originally, but I hope it will be enjoyable nonetheless. On with the show smile

Pregame analysis:

OK, so we have a Prince game with Louis.... Well, I've already won a prince level game with Louis... So, what should I do about that...? I know!! Let’s try to set the bar for just how many wonders we can build (both world and national)... Hmm, but that could lead to milking, and if there is anything I hate, its milking!

So, we need some kind of rule to stop that... Maybe a points system.... Like, umm, like.... like....

Maniac's Wonder Building Variant®

+40 points for building Versailles (I'm Louis, I'm SUPPOSED to build this wonder)
+20 Points for building Notre Dame and The Eiffel Tower (I'm France, I'm SUPPOSED to build this wonder)
+5 points for constructing Shrine Wonders
+10 points for building all other World Wonders/World Projects
+5 points for building all National Wonders.
+5 for each "single" SS part completed
+2 for each thruster completed
+1 for each casing completed
+15 for each city (not barbarian) flipped culturally

-10 for each year finished after 1950
-5 for each rival completed "single" SS part
-2 for each rival completed thruster
-1 for each rival completed
-10 for each city (not barbarian, not recapturing of our own) we capture
-25 for each city we have captured

There, that looks nice.... Of course, we probably won't "win" the game by playing like that, but, I'm long since passed to point of playing for score to the detriment of fun anyway. I think there's a quote somewhere that pretty much sums it all up...

Quote:No matter how well-intentioned or well-designed, a scoring system for this type of game will hurt the long term replayability. Look at every game out there. Then look at how the scoring dictates the strategy, controls the experience. Players chase score and lose sight of the game. At least most players do. - Sirian

I'm to the point where fast finishes = score chasing to some extent too, and thus won't be going for that fast finish very often. In some games, sure. But... not today smile

Wow, we DO have a resource rich start here, though not a food intensive one. All those hammers from the stone and the cow will go to waste early because of a lack of counter balancing food. I wish we had some wheat, corn or fish.

Starting on a lake is nice for the extra health.

That marble at the capital + industrious = wonder building a no-brainer.

The fact that we start on a grasslands hill is less than desirable. I wish it was a plains hill for the extra hammer.

4000BC - I decide to move the warrior onto the eastern hill and...

Well gee. I haven't even played one full turn yet, and already I have a tough choice to make. Do I move the settler to where the warrior now stands?? Or leave him where he is. Wheat, cows, and rock all at a capital on a plains hill??? And it’s costal? And it’s going to have silks eventually? And it can build a lighthouse and get extra food off 2 lake tiles eventually? And it’s got yummy grass forests screaming lumber mill me someday???

Well, actually, this ISN'T a hard choice. While the starting position is, by no means, bad, the plains hill location is just sick. Settler moved!

3960BC - Here's an interesting situation. We have 5 opponents. The AI always founds its capitol in 4000BC, so a check of the top cities screen should show us everyone we are up against smile

Well... hell. There are TWO leaders who start with Mysticism. India and Monty. Should I go for an early religion or not??? On Monarch, I wouldn't. This is prince, though, and I'm pretty sure both leaders will go for Buddhism, giving me a chance to grab Polytheism. Even if that doesn't happen, I'll have the tech to build Stonehenge + stone.

Paris founded, starts warrior, starts researching Polytheism. I send the warrior to scout the northeastern shoreline.

3680BC - We have our first contact.

Great frown I HAD hoped we'd meet Kublai, and not as a close neighbor. But we get uber aggressive Genghis instead.

3640BC - Warrior completes, Paris starts another. This warrior is sent to scout along the northwestern shore.

3520BC - Mysticism hits, we go for Polytheism.

3480BC - Oops. I didn't see that lion. Fortunately my northeastern warrior defeats it (whew). Buddhism founded!! Let’s hope my religion gambit pays off.....

3360BC - Warrior completes, Paris temporarily starts another. This warrior is sent directly southeast toward the hill there.

3280BC - Western scout fends off a panther with a scratch, thanks to the jungle hill defense bonus. Paris grows, swaps to worker due in 15.

3240BC - Southeastern scout gets scratched by a panther, stops to heal on the hill.

3160BC - Southeastern scout pops Mining from a hut. Yea! (Turned out to be the ONLY hut I got. Bad luck to start near the Mongols, and have 2 other people start with scouts too!)

3080BC - Southeastern warrior defeats a panther on a jungle hill, promotes to woodsman, stops to heal.

2840BC - Western warrior kills a panther, promotes to woodsman.

2800BC - Our run at Hinduism pays off smile

We choose to revolt immediately, and to go for Animal Husbandry next. Both so we can see the horses and so we can hook up the cows.

2720BC - The northeastern warrior discovers the Aztec homeland... JUST GREAT. The two most psychopathic leaders in Civ4 are my neighbors??

We decline to slaughter slaves, though, as this doesn't seem very honorable....

2640BC - Western warrior beats back a panther. Our first Worker finishes, we go back to finish the garrison warrior. The worker is told to hook up the wheat.

2480BC - We run into one of Alex's scouts as we travel around the Aztec capital

Umm sure Alex, but you have to declare war first and stay at war with them so we can honorably conquest the world....

2440BC - Paris finishes its garrison warrior, starts barracks.

2340BC - Western warrior fends off ANOTHER panther. Our northeastern warrior walks next to a bar-BEAR-ian™. YIKES!!! At least he's in a forest so he'll have a chance.

2300BC - Holy cow, we beat the bear and promote to woodsman! Have to stop to rest though.

2260BC - Western warrior beats yet another panther, promotes to Woodsman II but needs to rest.

2080BC - Animal husbandry comes in, I go for masonry so we can hook up the stone.

2000BC - Paris grows, swaps to settler.

1975BC - This can't be good. Being least powerful next to uber powerful Genghis??

I get an odd CTD that I haven't had before here frown

1825BC - All my warriors are injured by barbs....

1800BC - Washington??? Where did you come from??

Ah, you have a scout near Paris.

1750BC - Masonry hits. I go for priesthood hoping to then go for bronze, grab the Oracle for Iron, and then research hunting/archery.

1650BC - Settler completes, I start another.

1600BC - Orleans founded near the Mongol capital at a spot where it can grab the rice and the bananas. It starts a rax.

1500BC - Priesthood comes in, we start after Bronze.

1375BC - Southeastern warrior beats a Lion, makes woodsman II smile

1350BC - The 2nd settler completes, is sent to the southwest to a terrible spot near the dyes on the coast. The main point of settling here is that it closes off the Mongols from our "back yard" Paris is told to finish up that barracks.

1250BC - Paris finishes barracks, sneaks in a warrior. We get contact with Gandhi, who is in the southeast

1200BC - Yikes. My warrior escorting the settler dies to a barb archer who has 0.1 health left frown I scramble defenses to try to protect my new town. Lyons founded. Everywhere swaps to warrior.

1150BC - The capital completes a warrior, starts the Oracle.

1100BC - I swap BACK to warrior in the capital. This is going to be a nail biter.

1050BC - Paris starts another warrior

1025BC - The archer FINALLY suicides itself on a woodsman promoted warrior. (whew)

1000BC - Paris finishes warrior, goes back to the Oracle.

980BC - Monty converts to Buddhism. Looks like were going to have a war with him later.

960BC - Both new cities finish warriors, giving them "double coverage". Lyons goes for barracks, Orleans for a worker (then back to barracks)

920BC - Bronze working comes in, and we beeline for Archery.

780BC - Hunting comes in, we go for Archery.

760BC - The Oracle completes, giving us Iron working. We have iron smile

700BC - Genghis comes to me wanting this

We decline for now of course.

640BC - Stonehenge completes. We decide to sneak out a settler before starting our next wonder.

620BC - Genghis converts to Buddhism.....

600BC - Archery comes in, we go for fishing so we can get sailing.

520BC - Hinduism spreads in Orleans smile

500BC - Paris finishes warrior, starts an archer.

480BC - Fishing completes, Sailing started.

380BC - Barbs start to swarm Paris. I had to abandon mining the iron. I just couldn't protect it. My guerilla archer kills both an archer and a warrior in the same turn smile I get open borders with India so I can un fog it

280BC - After several turns of pumping archers, the capital makes a run at the Parthenon smile

220BC - Alex converts to Buddhism. Ok, this SUCKS. I may need to become Buddhist myself at this rate.

160BC - Sailing comes in. We put the Parthenon on hold to go for the Lighthouse.

1AD - We have an alternate source of iron hooked up smile Here is a look at our "mighty" empire.

40 - Moses is born in Paris. We use him to rush the Hindu Holy Building

60 - Tours founded on a spot that brings in the fish, rice and pigs west of the capital

120 - Monotheism comes in, and we revolt to organized religion.

210 - [Image: rbc152ld.png]

We are SHOCKED to find we aren't LAST in tech.

On another pleasant note, we complete the Lighthouse smile

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, I lost ALL my notes from here till 1500AD in a crash. Great huh.

Highlights from pictures and the replay ....

330 - Washington gets CoL, founds Confucianism

350 - Washington goes to Confucianism. There goes about my only friend.

360 - Parthenon completed in the Capital

440 - We get another Great Prophet from the Capital. He merges into the capital

620 - Gandhi shows up wanting to trade a much, much needed happiness resource, and the Hanging Gardens completes in the capital.

650 - Alex declares war on Gandhi.

670 - Another Great Prophet shows up. He rushes Theology. A turn too late to found Christianity, but oh well.

770 - Alex and Gandhi make peace.

840 - Washington shows up with another much needed happy maker

990 - Alex declares on Washington

1005 - Greeks capture Philadelphia.

1015 - Against all probability, a great Engineer is born in Paris

1020 - We complete Sistine in the capital

1025 - We capture the western of the 2 barb cities.

1045 -
[Image: rbc226kc.png]

I think on this one for a long time, and finally decide that since almost all the world, except Washington, is in Buddhism, I cave and swap.

I use my new religion to start digging out of my tech hole. Here is one big trade:

Here is the 2nd trade:

1050 - Now I make this trade with Gandhi:

Washington and Alex make peace.

1065 - We finally complete a wonder outside the capital by completing the Colossus in Tours

1105 - Gandhi grabs Taoism.

1110 - Gandhi completes Notre Dame. Yeah, that was one of my double points wonders. Not much I could do. The little rat was the only one with Music, and I couldn't afford to beeline for it myself at the time.

1125 - Gandhi grabs Islam. He must have used a prophet to rush the tech???

1140 - We complete the Library in Orleans

1160 -
[Image: rbc277vk.png]

At the same time, Washington declares war on Alex.

Here is the picture of the initial onslaught.

The stack headed for Orleans is just 2 Horse Archers, but up north, there are a total of 5 horse archers, an axe, and a cat. And what do I have defending those cities??? Umm. An archer and a warrior eek So How did I survive this? Well, I sold Drama to Alex for 210 gold, and upgraded the warriors to spears. I swapped all builds in the eastern half of the empire to spears, and I let them pillage to their hearts content until I had enough spears to counter attack. I also rushed every spare unit to those cities.

1165 - They pillage off the Iron AND copper. Fortunately I have 2 other sources of Iron hooked up :whew: Also, 2 more Horse Archers and a cat stroll towards Orleans. To be honest, I got luck that they targeted TWO cities, not one. If they had gone for one with everything, they might have taken the city.

1170 - One horse attacks up north, but my Spear wastes him w/o a scratch. WE counter attack, trading one spear for 3 Horse Archers.

1175AD - I thought I was doing pretty well. I'd weathered the storm... Reinforcements were on the way, and then I noticed THIS stack inbound...

Things are looking desperate. I need help! Who is my ONLY friend in need??

That stack would be the last troops Monty sent my way. He must have gotten distracted by Mongolia smile

1180 - More help arrives in the form of a wonder I'd never built before now.

The Greeks came wanting open boarders this turn too. Not only that, but I was able to trade Civil Service, which I had nursed in while getting as much cash as possible, to the Greeks for Feudalism and use the excess cash to upgrade a couple archers to longbows

1190 - You can see that the big, scary stack has been eliminated up north. They suicided on my Spears and Longbow smile You can also see that the scary stack has arrived down south. Fortunately, we have defenders waiting. You can also see that I'm fully prepared. They've pillaged off a lot of stuff, but, because they stopped to do it, I had time to defend.

We pretty much eliminated the stack the next 2 turns. End of threat smile

1200 - Greeks capture Avar from America (not from the barbs)

1230 - Genghis makes peace with Monty.

1235 - We make peace with Monty since he has another wave inbound. He ships us 100 something gold and 5gpt (all he had). A SECOND engineer is born in Paris. I use him to rush Engineering so I can build the Hagia Sophia.

1250 - Washington and Alex make peace.

1280 - A message I'd never seen before for an excuse not to trade. Yeah, looks like SOMONE just started a wonder....

1290 - We capture the western Barbarian City. The French Empire is now complete.

1335 - A friendly Khan shows up and demands we disown India. Sorry. No can do.

1340 - The Hagia Sophia completes in the capital. This isn't a wonder I usually build, but my land sucks and it was needed

1345 - We cave to Monty hoping we can avoid future wars.

1365 - We get a great scientist from Orleans. We make an academy in the capital with him

1385 - Gandhi circles the globe.

1400 - Genghis declares war on Gandhi. I expect to be asked by both sides to join, but it never happens.

1430 - Monty declares war on Genghis!

1435 - India captures New Sari

1460 - Gandhi and Genghis make peace.

1465 - A great merchant is born in Tours. I use him to rush economics to get the next merchant, but in the ONE turn possible, Washington snags it frown

1470 - Aztecs capture Turfan. Genghis is getting his but kicked~!

1480 - Mongolia, having just lost 2 cities in war, comes to us for aid vs. the Aztecs.

The smart thing to do is to say screw it. But I roll play and do the "honorable" thing and declare war on Monty.

1490 - I discover Liberalism first and take Nationalism for the Taj Mahal. Genghis and Monty make peace

1505 - Angkor Wat completes in the capital, the FP in another city. Alex now has extra Marble. With no further use for stone, I ship it to him for marble to speed Taj Mahal and Versailles.

1530 - I make peace with Monty.

OK, from here to the end, we have notes again......

1535 - Gunpowder hits, WE beeline for Democracy via Printing Press first. The mother of all wonders (Scoring wise) completes! I'd been worried that somone else would build it, but, actually, not many have the cities to do it it seems.

1565 - Printing Press hits. We now are the tech leaders (temporarily??) along with Gandhi. Problematic, however, is that once we hit Democracy, almost every tech going forward will hurt us by expiring our wonders frown

1580 - That bastid Gandhi has Constitution. Hopefully we can out build the sucker for the Statue.

1595 - Well, it isn't exactly the ideal moment for a golden age, but.. We’ll take it

Alex shows up with Chemistry. We're in no hurry for that. That expires our Parthenon.

1600 - Washington shows up with replaceable parts.

1610 - G-man wants us to cancel our deals with the Mongols for like the 3rd time. I refuse. They helped us vs. the Aztecs when you wouldn't, so forget it. Constitution comes in, we go for Democracy, due in 9 or 10. I don't swap to representation yet. One, we're in a GA, and two, we can double swap when we get emancipation. G-man shows up with the Corporation.... We start Oxford... So I dial up Alex and cancel the stone for marble deal.

1615 - Washington enters a GA... Genghis declares war on Washington... Well, if he thinks I'm going to join him in a war of conquest vs. a SANE opponent, he's mistaken.

1620 - Monty comes demanding... AGAIN!. It's only 210 gold though. I give it to him hoping he'll go annoy someone else.

1635 - Genghis requests aid for his war of aggression. I decline.

1640 - OMG. Monty is NUTS. Certifiably INSANE. He declares war on Gandhi. lol

1645 - End of the Golden Age frown

1650 - Democracy comes in. We beeline for factories next. We, of course, immediately swap to Emancipation and Representation.

!652- Washington, of all people, shows up and demands we quit trading with Mongolia. I tell him where to stick it. I start on the SOL, and burn one of the 2 engineers to hurry it along. Wow, G-man pulled Democracy this turn too....

1654 - Aztecs capture Karachi. Go, Monty, GO whip

1660 - Corporation comes in, we go for replicable parts for the lumber mills.

1662 - India shows up wanting us to swap to suffrage..... Ummm.... sure, anything for you pal! We get another Engineer out of Orleans. 89% chance for a scientist, but that’s the kind of game it's been! I send him off to the capital to rush something like the Eiffel Tower or such.

1664 - The little rat has Astronomy. I just can't overtake the bugger no matter WHAT I do.

1666 - The little bugger comes asking us to declare war on the Aztecs.... Where the hell were YOU when the Aztecs declared war on me?? Oh, yeah, that’s right YOU COULDN'T POSSIBLY DECLARE WAR ON YOUR GOOD FRIEND!!!!! SCREW YOU! Alex declares war on Washington again. Wow. Like, WOW. Have I mentioned, wow. This is the most warlike world I've ever seen in my games.

1668 - Washington has military tradition. For a prince game, the AI just won't go away.....

1670 - Monty wants help vs. India??? Let me see. ummm NO!

1672 - The VERY NEXT TURN he wants us to cancel our deals with them. HE IS COMPLETELY INSANE!!!

1674 - Replicable parts comes in, we go for Chemistry. Umm, Genghis and Alex will trade Chemistry?! Genghis?!

Haven't had a pic in a while. So here's me fleecing Mongolia lol

1682 - Washington cancels Fish for wine, then wants me to attack Mongolia?? I hardly think so.

1686 - Steam hits, we go for Assembly line. We, umm, don't have any coal.... umm. There's some up by that Mongol city on the island... maybe.

1688 - We complete the Statue of Liberty!

1696 - Alex shows up wanting me to declare war. I'm not going to join you because you declared on him. Sorry pal.

1698 - Gandhi swaps to Free Religion... Well, I suppose with 5 religions, not a bad idea. Me, I swap to Representation. Gandhi starts a GA?! Yikes!!!

Ah, the things you do to get Coal!

1704 - Assembly Line comes in, we beeline for railroad. The plan from here on out is. Beeline Railroad. Beeline the Apollo Program, Beeline the elevator, grab the remaining parts techs, launch, have a nice day.

1706 - OK this is getting absurd. Mongolia asks for help vs. the Americans AGAIN already. Psycho Monty declares war on Washington lol. Maybe I should have declared too =/. I trade Alex Steam and Education for Rifling and 40g.

1712 - An artist is born in Paris... I tuck him away for a future golden age. Like, for when I'm building... oh, space ship parts smile

1716 - Aztecs capture Atlanta. Washington makes peace with the Mongols. India's GA ends, thankfully.

1720 - Aztecs show up wanting us to declare on America AGAIN frown

1722 - OK, this is laughable, Washington wants me to declare war on Alex. Umm, don't think so!!

1726 - Washington and Monty make peace.

1728 - Gandhi wants me to trade steel for scientific method and change.... umm, now that this is a 2 horse race, and a level above Noble, there is no reason to tech trade with you ever again. Shoo, shoo. Railroad comes in, we start astronomy, which will, unfortunately, obsolete the colossus and hurt future research =/

1732 - WE get a notice that the Aztecs are wealthier than us.... We have almost 750g. Time to sell them some stuff. But first, I have to piss off Genghis by refusing to stop trading with friend, Gandhi frown

1734 - Alex wants me to declare war on America. *yawn* this is getting trite. Maybe we should have a, don't bother me diplomacy option frown

1736 - Astronomy finishes, we start sci meth to obsolete our library.

1740 - Washington wants Philo. Since that’s stone aged, sure. Now go away.

1742 - Monty wants me to stop trading with India. When hell freezes over pal. Genghis declares war on Gandhi. What an insane amount of war there is in this game!

1744 - Scientific Method comes in, and we have oil under a town at Paris.. Looks like we rip up a large suburb. Holy Shit. G-man has Biology, Physics, and Communism ALREADY?! I'm only showing steam.. But that leads to both Assembly Line and Railroad so MAYBE it’s near parity.. but I think I’m slowly losing ground. Since Physics is out, I go for Biology to boost our farms.

1746 - Mongolia shows up wanting help in their latest war of aggression (India) I decline. Faster we launch and get off this rock, the better. Mongols take back New Sari

1750 - Alex Declares war on Gandhi. Yet another Engineer is born. This time in Marseilles. I set him aside to rush a wonder.

1756 - Biology comes in, we go for Physics. Mongols capture Bangalore hammer Go Genghis, go, go!!

1758 - Washington wants to trade Wine for Banana. Sure.

1760 - Bombay is captured by the Greeks!! I might win the space race by default! I'd been playing the whole time with the thought that India would be a threat to hurt my ultimate score by completing ss parts. That may not be the case.

1766 - With all the cities on the rail net, and with all the mine/lumber mill tiles railroaded, I set the workers to making a few shortcuts to cities, then I'll just automate them to make rails.

1768 - Gandhi wants help against Alex. I repeat. Where was your help when I needed it??

1770 - Physics hits and we have uranium at one of the Barbarian Cities. We mine it right quick. We go for Artillery. We notice that the little rat is only up 2 dead end techs now. Military Tradition and Fascism. Looks like we might have weathered the storm smile

1774 - Paris has now built every building there is to build. There are a few places still non Hindu that I can convert, so I'll make some missionaries, then Research.

1776 - All shortcuts made. I start automating workers.

1780 - Research started on Rocketry.

1784 - India and Mongolia make peace.

1788 - Alex enters a golden age.

1790 - Washington wants us to stop trading with the Greeks frown Nope.

1792 - Ok, here's proof G-man is on Crack. Yeah, I'm gonna grab a pointless military tech, and you can get a jumpstart on the Apollo Program.... Not.

1794 - Wow, Monty is now 2nd in score?? Wow. I say again, wow.

1798 - Hmm, I forgot I was even building this lol

Gandhi now has Combustion. Washington now has gold to trade. I ship him Dyes for it.

1800 - Alex wants me to declare war on India again rolleye

1802 - Rocketry is discovered, and we enter the Soren age... err, MODERN age.

We go for industrialism to find aluminum.

India and Greece make peace.... World peace for the first time in EONS!

1808 - Alex goes to free religion, dropping him to cautious. He immediately shows up wanting us to cancel deals with India frown

1812 - I’ve never had so many cities producing research... Like, half my empire has nothing better to do.... We've started flipping tiles away from the Mongolian capital lol

1820 - Monty declares war on Washington *yawn*

1822 - Everyone except Washington swaps to free religion, so I do too. I consider going to free speech, but decide against it. I want that capital to build those last few ship parts at a blitz clip. Research is going nicely.

1824 - Washington wants help vs. the Aztecs rolleye Mongolia has a more reasonable demand. Sure old friend.

1832 - G-man wants us back in Universal Suffrage... Sorry, not this time. My largest cities would have rioters. Industrialism hits, We go for Radio - on the way to the space elevator - We have Aluminum at Tours.. conveniently hooked up already. I notice my workers are nearly done improving everywhere.

1834 - Pig for fur with Washington gets canceled. Aztecs capture Chicago. It's just possible I may see my first example of AI eliminating AI w/o a large assist from me. Washington has only 3 cities left!

1836 - Alex makes a demand I can live with

1838 - Apollo Program completes in Paris. I start the casings in my 4 most productive Cities not building wonders. I'll start the last one in Orleans when Broadway finishes.

1840 - India wants to trade fur for Cow. I accept. More Uranium pops up at Rheims, already mined.

You knew the peace couldn't last right? Alex declares war on Gandhi.

1842 - Kholapur is razed by the Greeks. There go my furs lol

1844 - Radio comes in. We start the important French wonder in the capital. Ten turns. Exactly how long it will take me to get computers. Broadway will finish in 1, then I'll just swap to Rock n Roll there...

1846 - Here's our bazillionth wonder finishing

I hadn't noticed just how many specialists some of our cities were running. STUPID GOVERNORS! I go through and swap most of them out to tiles. (I noticed it because one of the cities had stopped growing) Actually, it looks like it was only weed at a couple cities. Most of it had to do with tile overlaps so they had to be specialists.

1848 - Washington wants us to adopt suffrage rolleye Monty starts a GA. I sell a few older techs around so I can keep research at 100% for a while.

1851 - Gandhi makes an offer I actually consider.

The beakers ARE in my favor. The thing is, I'd have to cut research down to 90% soon after though, so I reject it. Good thing. Alex is now willing to bargain stuff smile First we make this Deal

1852 - Monty wants Astronomy. We cave. I go to trade something with Alex for combustion, but, inconceivably it says he’s caught up with us... not... possible... must.. be... a ... bug....

1854 - We lose our gold deal with Washington.. Our first Casings completes in Rheims and Anasazi. I start Battleships to protect our fish.

1855 - Alex wants us to declare on India.... Genghis declares war on India.

1856 - Mongols want us to declare on India... drop to cautious when I refuse.

1857 - Gandhi wants me to declare war on Mongolia... You know, it occurs to me that half the participants probably win domination victories... Alex wants me to adopt hereditary rule frown Computers come in, we go for combustion.. I'll try to trade for it now for sure. Our 3rd Casing completes in Chartes.

No longer afraid of being out launched, I make this weed deal to speed us along

I go through and sell my hit musicals for GPT for all who'll buy. 8gpt from Genghis, 5 from Gandhi, 9 from Alex, 12 from Monty. Washington only has 3gpt, so I pass on selling him a lux. This lets us keep Science at 100%

Research is set to Plastics so we can uncover robotics.

1858 - The 4th casing completes in Avingion

1859 - Long live France!

1862 - Rock on

At this point it occurs to me that I've so many spare resources, I could probably buy everyone’s friendship lol I gift Hit singles to everyone but Washington.

1865 - Washington wants us to declare war on Azteca. Sorry, but not for you. The final casing completes in Tours.

1866 - Another alt/tab crash. Fortunately this one didn’t totally freeze me!! After reload, Monty shows up wanting us to kill Washington. Sorry. Plastics hits. We go for robotics.

1868 - Orleans grows itself to the starvation point (odd food). Unsure of the rules, I order up a town irrigated away.

1869 - Mongols want us to stop trading with India for the millionth time

1870 - Gandhi wants us to stop trading with the Greeks. *sigh* What an obscenely warlike game.

1871 - India and Mongolia make peace... wonder what the Mongols are fighting with. They’ve no Iron or Horses anymore.

1875 - Robotics hits. I go for Satellites so I ca build the Thrusters. I start the elevator in Anasazi, the most productive city other than Paris. I send 2 Engineers down to rush it to near completion. I start on the docking bay in Paris. The elevator is now due in a scant 4 turns smile I also still have a 2 great people available for a GA when I have more parts building smile

1876 - A great merchant is born in Avingon. Well, let’s see... maybe I should use the Engineer for technology.... except Fascism is pointless. Bah! I let them all sit for now. When I have parts to build, I'll set off a GA.

1879 - Another French wonder completes smile

1880 - Alex wants me to war on India. Not likely.

1881 - Gandhi wants computers as tribute?

The knee jerk reaction was to say go to hell. Then I remember he's now backwards and behind too so I cave.

The ALEX shows up wanting Rocketry.. sheesh

Not this time pal.

Satellites come in. I go for Fiber Optics to get a part for the capital to build. Orleans, Rhiemes, and Anasazi start on Thrusters. Marseilles starts SDI.

1882 - Washington wants us to stop dealing with the Aztecs. Remind me again why I should do anything for you.

1883 - India and Greece make peace.

1885 - Washington wants us to declare war on the Aztecs. IDIOT!

1886 - Greece wants us to stop trading with India. IDIOT!

1888 - The Docking Bay finishes in the capital

1889 - Fiber Optics comes in, we go for Ecology. A couple cities are now starving, but will be saved from losing a pop point this way. Aztecs capture Boston. America is down to New York and Washington now.

1890 - Aztecs show up wanting us to finish America. *sigh* ROFLLMAO WASHINGTON CONVERTS TO BUDDHISM! LOLOLOL. A LITTLE LATE NOW!!!!

1891 - Mongolia wants free pigs... sigh, sure.... he goes pleased smile SDI completes in Marseilles

1893 - Thrusters complete in Anasazi

1894 - The other 2 thrusters complete.

1895 - Ecology completes, we go for Fission. Everywhere but the capital and the island city start recycling centers. I swap to Environmentalism as a roll play, not because it will get the game over faster. In fact, it will probably delay things a turn.

1896 - A great Prophet is born in the Capital. Time to do the GA.. It took the Prophet and the Engineer. Let’s hope the next Great person isn’t an Artist or Scientist.

1898 - I sell Radio to Alex for all his gold so I can keep researching at 100%

1899 - Paris completes the cockpit, starts life support. Mongolia gets a GA

1901 - Monty makes peace with Washington. Looks like he's gonna see the launch after all

1902 - ROFLLMAO Washington wants Electricity. That’s how far behind he is. I give it to him. Monty wants 350g. I have to think about this one, but I give it to him. Rheims starts the net. Not for any usefulness, just to build it.

1903 - Gandhi wants us to stop trading with Mongolia. Won't happen. Orleans starts Manhattan Project.

1905 - The capital finishes Life Support, awaits the next big project.

1907 - Washington wants us to break relations with the Aztecs. Not going to do it.

1912 - Fusion hits, giving us an engineer. We go for refrigeration. Paris starts building the engine. I make this deal so I can try to build Rushmore before the game ends.

Doesn't look like I'll be able to build The UN, and the Kremlin is already expired so lol

1913 - We get a great scientist in Orleans... OK, this is good. We've got 4 different leaders. Let’s see what tech's they can hurry... The engineer is fascism, the Artist and Merchant are Mass Media... The Scientist is... Flight... OK. Well, I Do the Logical thing here. The logical thing would is this. Use the Scientist for an academy at my best research city (Anasazi surprisingly...) and start a GA with the other 3. What I decide to do is use the scientist to rush the academy, stop and get mass media after refrigeration, then get the last tech and build the final part. Gandhi now has Mass Media, but won’t trade it frown . Maybe he'll change his mind.

1914 - Genghis wants Uranium for gold. I change it to Dyes. Alex wants us in Hereditary Rule frown Nope

1916 - Refrigeration comes in... and it occurs to me that since NO ONE HAS EVEN HAS THE TECH TO BUILD THE SPACE PROGRAM that I should just try to run the table on every remaining wonder large or small, so we pit stop for Mass Media. Musn’t leave any wonder behind if possible!!

1919 - Mt Rushmore completes in Anasazi.

1920 - Mongolia wants us to stop dealing with India for the umpteenth time. Mass Media comes in, we go for genetics.... Um, no we don't. We make another pit stop for Scotland Yard. Communism in 2. lol

1922 - Communism comes in.. Unfortunately I can’t build the Kremlin. That was a casualty of me thinking I'd be in a space race with India. Or if not a real race, at least one where they would be building some parts to errode my score. I can build The Yard however. We pit stop for Hospitals/Red Cross. Last Pit stop I promise.

1924 - The Engine completes in the Capital. Alex declares war on Washington. Gandhi declares war on Alex lol Gandhi and Alex both show up wanting me to take sides lol

1926 - Medicine comes in, we go for Genetics (finally)

This takes place outside Orleans

Not sure we'll have time to build Red Cross... we'll see.

1927 - The weasel wants me to cancel deals with Greece AGAIN

1930 - This completes in Rheims

Mongolia declares war on India...

1934 - Monty declares war on Washington...

1935 - Washington wants help against the Greeks *sigh* Genetics comes in, we go for composites hoping to get flight off the net. (Alex knows it). We make the first ICBM I've ever made in the capital (had to build SOMETHING!)

1936 - Genetics comes in and. Crap. The part can be built in 10, but the fastest I can build Red Cross is 12.. Unless.... I move some specialists around and, viola.

Part due in 11, Red Cross in 10 =D . Hmm. whazat you say... I forgot to start the GA??? OMG Your right X_X. Well, now I could just use the engineer to rush Red Cross... but I think I can finish faster by triggering the GA. I can't finish slower if I shave even 1 turn off completion, it will be at least a tie. I do trigger the GA now. Well, that shaved 2 turns off the winning year, or 1 off the rush Red Cross.

1938 - Mongols want us to war on India frown

1939 - WASHINGTON is captured by the Aztecs. Looks like GW is screwed.... We complete the UN in Anasazi

1940 - We complete yet another wonder smile

Hmmmmm. I whip out the calculator, and see that even if Washington and Genghis vote for me, I'll be THREE votes short. OK, back to the original plan.

1942 - Monty wants us to declare war on America frown Composites come in... WE go for flight... not that it probably matters. It looks like we will end the game a turn before we get it. We'll try nonetheless.

1943 - I figure I'll pass nuclear non proliferation. Everyone is in emancipation, or I'd float that one for variant neatness.

I wonder how Washington will vote... umm...Look carefully at the above pic under resolutions frown . Poor GW. He ALMOST lived to see the end.

1944 - Well, AT LAST. Something we can ALL agree on!

1945 -

Ghandi alive and Washington dead! Your game certainly turned out differently to mine hammer. And as I was the first player that I can remember to get nuked in an Epic, I certainly appreciate the new UN option lol. Nice win by the way (you beat the 1950 Mark!)

Those PNG images look great, but JPEGs would load five or six times faster, especially for any dialup users who are reading, and except for some blurred red text, there's really not much difference in readability.

Not that I should talk. I have a sickening number of screenshots, of course, but I'm not sure who's got the bigger image load here! lol

More commentary later.

What an entertaining game! I liked the variant scoring system, even though that wasn't really the goal of this game. You did build a crazy amount of wonders.

Were my eyes mistaken, or was Temujin voting for you there at the end of the game?! Craziness! lol

@ - Sirian regarding PNG. I had quite discovered that as a result of this report. I got used to doing the png for MoO, but 1) Moo screenies are smaller and 2) There is a big diffrence in readability for MoO screenies sometimes...

Unfortunately, the die was cast alleady for this report.

Of course, you know the REAL reason I did it was just to test your new computer tongue
