You may be disappointed with the pace, you're not likely to get 3-4 turns a day . There are a few technical details that you'll need guidance on for the first turn and after that you'll be fine.
It's fine, I'm welcome to a game where the turn timer is consistent as opposed to a game where I'm anxiously awaiting the email notification on a crucial turn

Thanks, some helpful tips in there. The don't be a jerk park is pretty self-evident but I've always been a bit unclear on the logistics behind splitting turns for war time and settling races and the like, so hopefully in practice I'll grasp the flow of things naturally.

I do not understand privateer changes. Am I correct that it requires ONLY Optics and Paper techwise? Uncontested hidden nationality unit would turn naval situation into a complete mess for a prolonged period of time, is that the intention?

Updated the list, now have 6 players signed up (sorry superjm, I didn't see your original post, but I've added you now). Thoth, I'll send you a PM, I haven't added you to the sign up list as a solo participant, do you want me to?

I thought about it, but I came to the conclusion that it doesn't matter. If someone turns up with a privateer and you know who it is due to reading F4, hidden nationality is irrelevant. If you can't know, as it could be one of a number of people, you still take the same steps to defend (which is build privateers of your own). And players will have to show that they control the privateers if they use them to escort caravels and galleons. If anything, I reckon that hidden nationality would perhaps make players more conservative.
All that said, it's not something I think is essential, that makes this system work. I have no problem removing it for the test if the discussion is that is better for this single game.

Hidden nationality doesn't literally mean "you can't know who it is." There's a ton of ways to infer that. It really means "can fight without a war declaration." Just mentally (or explicitly in the mod) rename it to something like "Peacetime Combat". (I forget, but you can fight back against it without declaring war too, right?)

It's like fighting the barbs. You can attack hidden nationality units with impunity.
