T-hawk Wrote:Ok, now that's an update! Seems like a week ago that you were complaining when Bluebell Bay turned out to miss the iron. Now it's knocking out the Pyramids in 15 turns. eek What's the big giant jump in your hammer production over the last two turns? I don't think that counts Industrious bonus.

I have absolutely no idea what that jump is. And BBB, well, grass pigs, pseudo-food fp, copper, and plains forest means that at size 4 it was a decent city, but the boni are just nuts. Doubling the hammer output due to OR, forge, and IND is just sickening, Pyramids costs 168 base hammers, and GL is only 117. When you consider that if I have the GL for 50 turns without obsoleting it and I'm in Rep, I will get 600 base beakers (750 due to the lib there), just from the 2 free scientists. That doesn't seem like a bad deal, even ignoring the gpp.

Thanks mate! smile Will have to ponder these now...currently, Sl is running 4 ep against me, and I him, and he is at 22, me at 16 (before I end the turn)

Basic plan to get Gl and Collosus by t78. Might take a while for you to figure out though. And GL in 6 turns, not shabby...

The GL is mine, now I'm just putting plans in place for the NE in LS. I also got a GP at 75% odds, so I'm sending that straight down to Darrell for his Shrine. He also popped his GM last turn, and got up to 7 cities (equal with me). I do however plant my 8th next turn, and 9th in a further 5 turns (the combinned city).

One thing that I'm dealing with right now is the really low health caps. All of my cities are unhealthy at size 7, so I really need to get that rice off Darrell, and get harbours down for the health (the trade bonus is just that, a bonus).

Darrel is going for Music, due in 5. I toyed with the idea of running espionage on SL, but I figure I need to get Machinery down asap, and I can only research about 60% of machinery, which isn't that great. Hopefully with the Collosus in 2 more turns, and the extra 80 gold I'll save in that amount of time, I should be able to research it full bore, get it done by t85. I think I can currently research at about 95 (base) bpt, but costs are now 43 gpt. Managable, but I do need to keep an eye on them.

Supposedly, there is an embargo against me forming...Darrell just told me, but said he turned them down, said he could spy on me. I'm looking foward to a 3v2 and being on the short end, but I'm not sure that's an honest description. Either way...this is where the 100% tech discount comes in rather handy, as well as full tech trading. Dreylin lacks HBR and Construction...if they get gifted any of those techs by a player other than me or Darrell...then I can't see anything wrong with Darrell gifting me techs that he has received from them, and I'm pretty sure he'll feel the same way.

Well, here I was, happily building away, a threat to no one...now it's time to start setting up a war machine. Anyone ever seen what the combination of PS and Ind, Vassalage, Theo and Chm does to enemy navies yet? Well, the prospects are looking good.

(11:56:06 AM) de krill of Fronce: That's a pity. would have been good spoils

(12:03:08 PM) Darrell: That is tempting but too muc to ask
(12:03:17 PM) Darrell: I will see if ruff can see
(12:03:27 PM) de krill of Fronce: tbh, I was considering doing it anway
(12:03:35 PM) de krill of Fronce: the only problem is that it delays Machinery
(12:03:48 PM) de krill of Fronce: if you are happy with that delay, I'm quite happy to run the espionage slider

(12:03:59 PM) Darrell: Doesn't bother me
(12:04:04 PM) de krill of Fronce: coolio

(12:05:03 PM) de krill of Fronce: that I'm going for them, or that I'm running away with the game?
(12:05:12 PM) de krill of Fronce: Because my GNP sucks
(12:05:22 PM) de krill of Fronce: compared to yours

2 pics for you, that I might not have posted before. The first one is the south, looks like I've got another 3 city sites, perhaps 4, that I can plant down there, and I'm hoping there is a new food resource for hte extra health over there. There is an explorer on the galley (I upgraded the scout. Turns out you can't upgrade units on ships, which is a pity, but only delayed the start of exploring by a single turn).

The second picture shows that there are only 2 tiles I can plant on, the plains hill or the tile 1N of it if I want to reach the other island over there asap. I have the settler for Knighton moving now, and a missionary will get overflowed out of Vietnam in 2 turns, and I'll likely get a lib there asap, perhaps before a granary, to speed up the settling process.

What was it you gained settling rights to when you gave Darrell copper?

Basically, that island to the NE of the 4 tile island is mine, and I know it has gold (multiple sources, so will trade one to Darrell for sure, either trade or gift due to the others forming the embargo) but I don't know about food or the size. East of that island is Yazs' territory. I have considered sending a scouting galley...but I couldn't be bothered. Too expensive with 3 wonders on the move.

I have Dreylin to the west of Lands End, but I don't know what I have to the west of Dublin, or if the islands that I'm exploring connect to SL/Dreylin. I'm guessing they don't, but you never know. In the east, it is basically Darrell along the entire border (Yaz can't survive if Darrell persues this war, and if Darrell doesn't, then Yaz will have difficulty contesting the island with me). If Dreylin basically has all of the land to me west, it should be very interesting - I should have the upper hand on ocean, and if SL tries to attack through Dreylin as well, Darrell can go kill him. I figure Ruff will end up with SL, but he can be tied up with just land units. Once his navy gets destroyed, he will be stuck on the defensive.

I see Charismatic being really powerful on this map, thanks to the ease of reaching 3 promo boats.

Collosus due next turn, and Pyramids is now slavable, so the only way I forsee myself osing those wonders is if someone has them built manually, not GE rushed (I'll see the GE pop up in the log).

Also Got SLs' demographics. He GNP just went higher than mine...but I was at 100% tax. OTOH, I am making 71 culture per turn wink so he has a higher science rate than myself, but then again, Darrell thinks he may be researching Monarchy, so should have something like a 120% increase on his base beakers. That will drop though, when he expands past 4 cities (city 8 cost me 7 gpt, but gave me 7 commerce in trade routes and new tiles) and techs an undiscovered tech.

However, at a high slider the commerce from his capital goes through the academy, but at a lower slider it doesn't. Which is why GS first is a waste in MP, but a GP and a shrine I like for the benefits it provides via OR, the extra gold, and the culture. Religion first isn't great either, especially if you don't have a plan to get that GP and spread the religion, but if you do...it isn't shabby.

BTW, I'm now at 102 bpt, -47 gpt at max science. I'm running at about -25 gpt and researching machinery, trying to conceal my true potential at 70% (also, that works out at the best percentage to run at to lose on'y 0.07 beakers through rounding. Yes I'm that bored).
