[Spoiler] PB42: Rusten and mackoti play Krill playing Bismarck of Portugal

I don't recall seeing HBR on OH's tech list, however I did roll a couple of turns so he could have inserted it in the queue and 1-turned it without me seeing even after I remembered to start paying attention. I did see the Aesthetics-Literature pickups as well as Calendar and I think CoL before Machinery, so that would cover ~6 of the ~8turns I played.

Cheers. I'll have to double check there are no stables next turn, but I've never seen a HA around, and truth be told, he'll want to shovel production into CKN and a few more swords anyway after he builds HE in Constant Sorrow. In other words: even if he has HBR he may not be using it right now, and I have no way to find out short of Paper.

I agree that I haven't see any hanging around - and if he's not been putting it to immediate use building HAs then the only reason for him to have researched it would be to pre-build Stables, so that'll be the confirmation.

I doubt he would give that confirmation: he is using his capital to push out GS, so he doesn't want Civil Service for Bureaucracy, therefore Vassalage makes more sense for him. He has SoZ and will have a settled GG, add in Vassalage and he doesn't need to waste what would be 120 hammers on military on a 60 hammer stable in Constant Sorrow, he will take the 3 CR3 swords he would get for that price and go knocking on DZ's door.

Full turn to be written tomorrow after work at some point, but you can look at the pictures here.

Max bpt is now 613, and make 185gpt at max tax: I need the equivalent of 110% of max science to generate enough beakers to get both HBR and Monarchy, only 2 turns to save enough gold for one turn of maximum research. tl;dr I can get Feudalism or Machinery instead of Construction, and still get Monarchy and HBR before the GA ends (just speaking of total beakers produced).

Turn 136, GA turn 1

Quick scout around before doing anything permanent:

Also, note that OH has Compass dues in 8. This cannot be through scientists, as he does not have Rep he would need over 20 scientists. He has to either be running low slider (10% or 20%) or overflow plus a few scientists (I expect 2 from GL, and then 5 more in two different cities, He can't be running three cities on scientists, because the next GP from his capital will be a GS, and he doesn't need 4 GS to bulb Astro and get his next golden age, and Babylon burning is using Shrine slots for a GP as the second person to trigger the GA. So 12 scientists, 14 max).

First of all, comparison between none GA and GA state, and then after civic revolts:

Max tax gives 46gpt.

+178gpt, so every turn of saving gold is equivalent to 4 turns of none GA saving.

Next pictures are after Caste/Bureaucracy:

I now hit over 600bpt at max tech however it still takes 2 turns of saving to do that. This doesn't really matter as the most expensive tech to research is equivalent of a single turn of 160% slider. HBR is a turn of 50% (43% actually), Monarchy a turn of 60% (55%)?

I've thought about tech path (I've played T137 today) and I can't make Machinery first work, but what I can do is T136 save gold>T137 HBR@50%> T138 save gold, research Machinery>T139 save gold>T140 turn on tech>T141 finish Machinery and drain as much gold as possible (estimating 60%)>T142 research Monarchy (build wealth to work as required, should really not need more than 2 cities on it).

After barracks, going onto wealth. Start a sword T139 to queue upgrade to a mace.

Just build the court houses for the end of the GA.

Courthouse into wealth or barracks, likely barracks. Probably grow after GA onto a windmill.

I love how shitty this city is. Steal the corn at some point, and grow to size 12 to work two plains farms, two fp, windmill, three plains cottages, 8hpt and the four coastal tiles (emergency whips/drafts for the future, or feitoria water tiles).

I broke Kalamazoo. It is too large. It needs to shrink back down to size 8 or so, but I'm going to finish this barracks, overflow into a stables, and build HA here and then cats. Just leaving it on military from now on, the failure to build 4 wonders defines this city. Now it is relegated to churning out units. I'm going to windmill a lot as well, need to retool everything here (and hand over the cottage to ITM).

HE>Market>Xbows (I need a few, all over the place) but also focusing on growth (and market is better than 3 archers and costs the same hammers, yay EXP). But once Xbows come in, churning them out to hold various cities. My power is really low, but I need to grow BCR to something like size 18 now.

Going to farm everything unique up here, all other tiles go to BCR, so grabbing the courthouse now because it will soon all production.

...I don't know what I'm doing here. Growing it to size 12, 3 windmills, 4 farms, pasture and 4 workshops? Another unit pump? Sounds about right. Cottage window would have considered closed 40 turns ago, but here it really has now closed. Plains hill mine used due to rounding for one turn.

Courthouse now, then a few units, then growth once I have better tiles down.

Forge>Courthouse. I didn't whip it. Call it foolhardy, I wanted the population for flexibility.

There are now 4 workers improving here. It will have to complete the market after the HE. Same aim as BCR: grow it sky high.

Turns out that by running 2 citizens this turn, I can finish the NE in 4 turns not 5, so I get a extra turn of 100% gpp on 6 specs, rather than 2 specs this turn just getting the GA +100%. I think the flexibility is useful, even if it leads to fewer gpp by the end of the golden age: I still haven't made my mind up regarding Caste v. Slavery and the GP plan.

Who cares...

Full artists from next turn.

As mentioned previously, build the iNE now, and then see if Caste is still available after the GA.

Bringing irrigation to the wheat through the mountain pass and growth to size 10 or so.

I need the monument to put the +1 culture into the inner ring tiles to not lose the clam, as once borders pop, it will act as +21 culture. I'm not going to get a library here for a while, so I needed a source of per turn culture, not just the artists to pop borders like in other cities.

Fish hooked T138, but after that development is delayed as getting granaries and workboats out in other cities is more valuable.

Almost every tile here needs changing to a watermill (I count 10).

Someone anal enough to tell me what I'm doing wrong here is more than welcome to post.

Plans will be farmed T137, granary completed T138.

Same problem.

Now for the F screenshots:

Erring towards swapping to Confucianism, but really not thought about it. Need to pick something for Theocracy to work on though.
