RB Pitboss #2 [SPOILERS] - Speaker and Sullla

I still haven't told them anything other than that we'd repay the loan very quickly (because one turn of income = 360 gold for us currently). I thought it would be a nice gesture if we could give them a little extra for their troubles.

I mean of course one turn of Golden Age income (which should be ~450 to 500 gold) including what we borrowed from them... so an extra 50 or so gold. Giving them back double what we borrowed would just be silly. Apologies if that was unclear, Speaker.

Oh, and we have apparently hit 2000 posts in this thread. Soon to be 200,000 thread views. Thanks to all the readers, I'm sorry if we haven't been quite as exciting to watch since the earlier heroic period! [Image: biggrin.gif]

I went back and looked at your email to them, to remember how much they were sending us, and then it made more sense. One turn of GA income seems like a reasonable and nice gesture from us, but not too over the top.

Sullla Wrote:To be fair Speaker, athlete plays his turn in the evening US time every day, and he's been consistent about doing that. Now, is it fair for the six other teams to wait 8-12 hours each day just to make playing athlete's turn more convenient? I'm much less certain of that. But I really don't want to fight any more battles over that in the general thread. No question though, it's very irritating for us other teams.

It is if you want to legislate out double moves.

I'm not sure that's practical - they'd have to give up a lot in trade to negotiate that, and which team is going to be left on the outside looking in?

Speaker, I was out all evening down in DC at a baseball game. I'm way too tired to look at the turn tonight, so I'll get to it tomorrow. We've got plenty of time, no need to hurry... not naming names on that...

Funny, I've only been to the Orioles' stadium, despite Nats tickets typically being pretty expensive. Now that the Nats aren't in last place anymore I may have to finally check out the home team.

And it's not like the O's are getting out of last place any time soon...alright

Make no mistake, I was in Washington to attend a game with friends - I have no rooting interest for or against the Nationals. It's very difficult to be an Orioles fan, but if you grew up in Baltimore, and you're not one of those awful bandwagon sportspeople, I don't think there's much of an option. Sooner or later, we have to be good again... right?

Well, only four more months until football season starts. [Image: biggrin.gif]

This wasn't a particularly great turn for us, as Spartansburg popped out an Artist at 18% odds for its Great Person. cry We had about equal odds to get a Scientist, Merchant, or Engineer - all of which would have been preferable. Now we have two Great Artists, which is sort of unnecessary.

So.... why don't we burn one of them on a Golden Age? It's pretty good timing, as we could use the GA turns to build universities and banks (assuming we go to Banking next, which we should) and we'll very likely get a full 16 turns of GA from landing Taj as well. Explode ahead with the double GA and be ready to kick some Ottoman behind when they wear off. And so long as our next Great Person isn't another Artist, we'll have another GA in our back pocket (Artist + second non-Artist) should we need it.

I have not ended our turn, so Speaker and I can decide on this today. But I think we should go ahead with the Golden Age... if only to see how Nakor and Kathlete react! lol

What's going on with the Taj Mahal? Not that much, fortunately:

Rolan: 249 shields (+45)
Krondor: 179 shields (+21)

I will eat my hat if Krondor doesn't complete a university next turn, but included here for completeness. Rolan received 45 shields this turn into its Taj build... which is pretty much exactly what Speaker and I predicted it would from looking at the tiles the city can work. Not too shabby, eh? Nakor is a full 10 turns away from Taj at that rate, and we are 4t from Nationalism tech, so we're looking pretty good there. Just have to hope there isn't some mystery forest chop(s) out there we've missed somehow.

In the past three turns, Nakor has discovered Aesthetics, Drama, and Literature, so I guess he's going back now for the top of the Classical tree to pick up what he skipped earlier. I'd rather have Nakor do that; it'll take a long time to get Globe Theatre setup (if he's even thinking about it), and Nakor doesn't have a unit that qualifies for Heroic Epic purposes. At least he's not racing forward down the tree yet.

Confirmed that Whosit is gifting all his gold each turn away to someone else, almost certainly Nakor. While it's only 50 gpt, Nakor doesn't need any more help. Kinda tough sometimes when these other civs play together as a team... rolleye Please Korea, kill Whosit soon.

Dantski wanted to know if we had anything else to offer for his Great Prophet. Umm, I don't know what else we could give him. A Great Artist (?) He's not too likely to want that, especially since we'd make him agree not to bomb our border cities! Any thoughts?

Do you have a C&D trick for that too, or is that an assumption?
I have to run.
