RB Pitboss #2 [SPOILERS] - Speaker and Sullla

Sullla Wrote:Then I thought that maybe those two had secretly worked out some kind of deal to screw us over, and maybe they only pretending to fight. Well, then I looked at the Demographics and realized that wasn't the case
Well, there have been 3 generals spawned in the conflict, so far. smile That power chart looks awesome, for sure. They now have fewer units than Dantski! lol

Quote:One last note. Tech has been moving very slowly in this game, but there were a couple of discoveries this turn. We researched Banking, in an amusing twist of fate Nakor also researched Banking (doing end-of-turn tech swaps each turn to "hide" his actual research rolleye),
What's the point of this? We actually lost vision on Nakor's research, Sullla. I put the EP back on him last turn, but I don't know if we'll ever catch up, since he makes more than we do at this point. I guess once we get Masoleums everywhere, we'll surpass him. Put 50% of the points back on Kathlete if you feel so inclined.

Quote:Speaker, one topic I wanted to bring up with you: what would you say if we triggered our Golden Age this turn?
Sounds fine to me. Let's also swap into Mercantilism this turn then. Research Constitution next (followed by Gunpowder and Mil Trad, then swap into Representation, Nationalism, and Theocracy at the end, and prepare for hammer

Golden Age let me bump up science to 60%, which is exactly break-even for this turn (funny coincidence!) where we get an atonishing 745 base beakers/turn! Those of you lurking can go compare to Nakor's thread, and see how he's doing in his Golden Age. I'd wager that we're producing more beakers than he is at break-even science though!

Incidentally, with standard 20% pre-requisite bonus, our actual research is currently 900 beakers per turn during this Golden Age. Yeah. nod That should be enough to get us through Theology, Constitution, Gunpowder, and most of Military Tradition before the 8 turns run their course. Should be... fun. hammer

Random other notes:

- I looked at reconfiguring Spartansburg this turn to work more Great People (to get the Golden Age bonus) but it's better just to leave it in place for this one turn. Next turn, we finish the Grocer and can assign the full 7 specialists, plus we'll be rushing Apostolic Palace there with our Great Engineer. For the last 6 turns of the Golden Age, we'll be getting 24 * 4 = 96 Great Person points/turn. It is fun to be Philosophical!

- Had to post this picture of Hampton Roads in GA mode:

I love it when all the sea tiles are moneybags! lol 2/2/5 tile yield from coast, pretty sweet. Here's a fun question for the readers: under what circumstances can you get more than 2/2/5 yield from a normal, non-resource coastal tile? It is possible, but only in very certain situations. What are they?

- On the espionage issue, we just couldn't see Nakor's research because his team hadn't picked a new tech yet after discovering Banking. No need to reassign EP, we can still see Nakor and Kathlete (the only two teams we care about). Nakor likes to research a phony tech and then swap right at the end of the turn, which is beyond poor manners, but we don't really care. As long as we have Alphabet tech, we can see whatever he discovers, so it doesn't really matter much. The silly clock games are just a nuisance.

- Speaker, I did *NOT* revolt to Mercantilism civic, although it's still an option. I looked at our cities, and I don't think it's worth it to change over just yet. Our core cities have a fair amount of 3 and 4 commerce trade routes. It makes sense to go to Mercantilism when:

* We have Representation (this is the biggie - as soon as we can go Rep, we want to make the swap).
* We have additional island cities (there are 3 cities with castles which have 3 trade routes, and would lose out with our 2 current island cities).
* We get a library in cities like Vicksburg. Not much advantage in going to Merc when the new cities can only assign Citizen specialists!

So I say wait 5 turns until we have Constitution/Representation, and make the change then. We're in pretty good shape right now regardless!

floodplains town under US/FS with RP with Fin and river, 3/1/9, 3/2/10 in GA IIRC.

I think Flood plains/grassland/town/any resource is technically permissible, which would be a (6/2/10), (5/3/10)or (5/2/11) under FS and US.

However, it also depends if you consider city improvements and free specialists to count towards the city tile yield,in which case the city tile can make about 50 base food/hammers/beakers under the right circumstances.

I wasn't aware that a floodplains town was a coastal tile. [Image: wink.gif]

And then there were six:

Adios, no more Aggressive Praetorians running around! Whosit, you were in a very strong position earlier, but you wasted it by running all over the map trying to take on seemingly half the teams in this game. Next time, focus on building up your own civ rather than just trying to terrorize the other teams. (Oh, and in retrospect, signing that peace deal with Korea was a *VERY* big mistake! lol)

Starting to get a little loney in my Excel files... we'll see what we can do to speed that along futher. [Image: mischief.gif]

Krill: absolutely correct, although you need to be using Unrestricted Leaders (Portugal + Financial) to get the boosted feitoria.

Wow, go plako and broker, who would have thought they'd come that far back from almost being eliminated? Do you guys have any idea with how much of the donut they ended up with back in their territory? Or did they end up razing most of whosit's cities?

Edit -I was wrong that was in a 'stupid' mod where you could have both lighthouse AND trading post !!
(kind of the 'menagerie' SG we played a long time ago...)

Trading post just adds a navigation promo to ships built there. Don't know if it has ever been different...
