Morgan Wrote:Are you using any spreadsheets or simulations? Yup. No spreadsheet, but I worldbuildered a simulation of our surroundings (totally inaccurate as far as other teams' locations and all things regarding land-not-near-us are concerned, but otherwise essentially correct, including map size) - the T111-112 version is attached to an e-mail in the Friendly Kittens inbox with a title like "Fun with Sandboxes" or something equally silly. If you have trouble tracking it down, I'll try to find the exact message for you when I have access to the account later today.

Yep! From the inbox screen, click on the check box to the left of the message(s) you want to change to "unread" then pull down the "more options" menu at the top of the inbox list to "Mark as unread." From the message itself, you can likewise pull down the "more options" menu at the top to "Mark as unread."

I have a save for every turn up to an including 122 following the microplan, which has been followed to the letter so far other than tech, which has not. Let me know which if any turns you'd like and I'll get them to you sometime in the next 24hours.
BTW: I'll be here still when this turn rolls, but, I'll leave most of it to you. I'll probably use our scientist to plunk down the Academy so I can relay a proper estimate for Liberalism. I'll also request Music, as it seems we want it in the next couple turns.

Parting message before I leave for vacation.
Portugal missed last turn and have requested a pause/reload. If the game gets reloaded, don't forget to make that academy IN THE CAPITAL. (That probably wasn't necessary, but I'm paranoid... Also, we'll need to re-request music from Mali if there is a reload.
I should be on in about 12 hours when we get to Atlanta. Bye for now.

Made it to Atlanta. Going to take a nap shortly. Exhausted from the 12hrish drive. I'm here at the moment though if there's anything you want to discuss.

On my break at work, so I have to go ~immediately. I logged in to make sure we hadn't missed doing anything on 118 due to the reload, but it looks like we're okay. The *only* things I did in-game were the two Maniac mentions a couple posts up:
- Accepted Music in a diplo screen.
- Moved Faraday the Great Scientist to our capital of Fierias and built an Academy there, taking our research up to 265bpt.
- Also saw a "Stopping Trading With Infidels Failed" from the AP.
The remainder of the turn still needs to be played per the microplan; I can do so later tonight, I think, if Morgan isn't able to do so yet.
EDIT: One other important thing I haven't done: The barb archer in the Kilrah area has moved to a flatland tile. We have lots of options to kill it, but no less than THREE of the units in the area are heroic already! I advise killing the archer with the newly-completed Crossbow, the only thing in the region with less than 10 xp (it has 3). It would have 99.1% odds.

Double-checking the thread, it looks like you not only are ready to play but are looking forward to it, Morgan, so I'll leave that to you!
Also, it sounds like you've been putting together a plan for the turns going forward; if so, and you like the way it's looking, definitely follow it. It's currently turn 119, and I assume we're continuing to follow Maniac's microplan at this point - I think things should change slightly next turn however (T120) as follows: Blue Dot ("Ornata") should build culture (in addition to getting religion) so as to pop its borders five turns early, acquiring both of its forests and all [EDIT: I need to not write these late at night - of course the number is 3, as Maniac points out below] of its floodplains. It would still work the oasis. This will allow us to get (chop) the granary sooner if desired and/or improve one of the floodplains in time for it to be used by the time the city grows to size 2. If we do this, Billy Bass should probaly move 1SE-1SW to a forest INSTEAD OF 1S to a jungle on T120 (he can then road that tile as though it were the jungle tile however). (Also, if we do this, Shun Gon should probably move 1SW-1S to what would otherwise have been Billy Bass's jungle instead of 2SW to the one just south of Ornata, strictly for road efficiency reasons). Blue Dot isn't pretty, but I think we can make it come out ahead of no city at all eventually, even if it isn't needed as a "meat shield."
Smithsonian is going to be a terrific city, and it doesn't even need the 5 workers I was babbling about, even initially; 3 should do, especially if they get a head start. I know getting workers up there in time will be impossible, but this is my pie-in-the-sky plan for the city's first few turns if the workers are available to road the route up there and road and hopefully pre-chop some forests in advance of the city being planted:
T+0: City founded, receives Hindu spread via missionary, builds culture, working the plains forest right next door. Workers should be roading and/or prechopping the forests (both first and second ring) by now.
T+1: Builds culture, still working the plains forest.
T+2: Borders pop; build Granary, working the river pigs. One worker completes a chop while the other two pasture the river pigs.
T+3: Build Granary, still working the river pigs. One worker completes another chop (in a pre-roaded, pre-chopped forest) while the other two complete the pasture on the pigs.
T+4: Granary complete with 16 base hammers of overflow and exactly 11 food in the box. Build Forge (I think this is the best bet in the long term, even though it delays the NE) and keep working the pig pasture. Ideally, a worker would move to yet another pre-roaded, pre-chopped forest and complete the chop. The pig workers probably move 1S and road this turn.
T+5: Build Forge, now with 60 hammers in it if we finished a third chop last turn; 17 food in the box. Keep working the pig pasture of course. Two workers should move to the pigs and start to pasture them this turn, to be completed next turn. Ideally, we'd also chop the remaining forest into the forge by T+7 - in time to 1-pop whip it immediately upon growing to size 3 on T+8, in which case we'd regrow to size 3 again on T+9. Overflow would go into a library, which would eventually be whipped for maximum overflow into the NE. [EDIT: Limiting factor is still number of workers available; it will be a challenge to make improved tiles keep pace with the city's growth. On the other hand, if we get/have marble (again) the NE can be finished pretty quickly while waiting for workers (i.e. while whipping away unimproved tiles) as long as the two plains hills get mined in time: build a library while growing, 2-pop whip it for maximum overflow while working two pig pastures, two plains hill mines, and (farmed if possible) floodplains; put one turn (and the overflow) into the NE; put a turn into a monastery; 2-pop whip that; put a second turn (and the new overflow) into the NE; put a third turn into the NE, and it's complete. That "third turn" of NE building can also come in between the library and the monastery if necessary/appropriate for growth.]

Ornata only has 3 floodplains... Ornata is a fine city till size 7 or 8, when it runs out of tiles. The gold alone is enough to pay for it's presence, though. It's a shame it isn't going to be planted at the better location, yes, but it's still better than a couple of our other spots.

Temminck generates Great Scientist, builds Hindu Monastery (Aqueduct, Worker, Pikeman on hold) and WHIPS it for 2 pop, works SharedVillage+village+village+cottage+rice+copper+ fpfarm (borrowed from FS)
Can only whip for 1 pop on a Hindu Mon - can whip 2 pop on Aquaduct. I am missing something?
Also there are no unit moves - i assume they stay put?
Good call on the X-bow - i'd spotted it last time i logged in but forgot to mention.
I'm going to have to get my head around the worker micro roading idea, something i've heard of and read about - but far to lazy to utilize
I'll be around later, but your welcome to hit end turn if you figure out the whip issue.

Unit moves are at your discression. I'd have to check the whip situation. give me a minute.
