Killed 2 India HA, positioned troops to cut the road to Carthage so they can't easily retreat, and moved Pikes to between St. Paul and Lancre. India aren't taking anything except pain.
Lakewood should have an extra 4 pikes in it, which makes it untouchable.

So long as india don't have 4 fast workers I should be OK. No way, whatever haappens, that they get a city beyond The Kneck, and I doubt they even get that. Borrowed 330 gold off Mali for 2 pike upgrades to shore up the lines.

However, I need to keep an eye on Lancre - it is possible for the Indian stack to reposition to hit Lancre next turn, so I need to get Carthage moving exactly how I need to to to cover me.
We live in interesting times.

Does India have two mounted stacks, what happened to the stack in Ottoman lands?
I have to run.

Current HA stack is 3N of Lakewood, about 15 HA. Ottomans have a suspected force of 4-6 knights in total, 2 of which are with the previously mentioned HA stack. Indias' second stack is above. Really hope that is it...

Ottomans retreated the knights to Zingara and did not move them to attack Lancre next turn. So 1 problem down, 1 to go...

Portugal (Read: Dantski) is inept...he just disregarded the border treaty we had and settled one of the cities that we agreed was mine...and then had the temerity to claim that I could raze it, if I gifted them a worker. WTF? I pay him to rectify amistake he just made? Well bollocks to that I say!
Quote:While I am happy that we are going to try and sort this out, no, I'm not in the wrong here - I didn't make a mistake, you guys did. If the city gets razed - and I'm not saying that is the only acceptable solution, but it is the most straightforward - then I won't subsidise your breaking of our agreement.
Also, last email before I go to work (yay, nights!), I'll be around in about 13 hours.

Ok the only *right* conclusion I see to this is you declare a phony war and raze the city and then we can move forward with the original plan. I would leave the city empty.
Obviously the growth/hammers loss is significant to CBE so I would ask a little something in return. An extended NAP with the previous RoP and gifting clause could work but since you were happy to do that before I'd ask for a worker in exchange too.
Let's work this out rather than argue.

The problem is precisely that your city will overlap tiles - specifically, the sheep tile. It was agreed that I could settle a city for that sheep, but now I can't do that without getting involved in an expensive culture war that you agreed to not start.
What can I say, other than I am extremely pissed off that you are too lazy to keep your own agreements sorted in a safe place? It isn't my job to look after your diplomacy, it is yours. We only have 2 agreements, and NAP and a border agreement, and you just broke at least one of them.
Are you not even going to offer some sort of reparation? You just stole a city site from me and you don't even seem repentant.

Hi Krill
I'm sorry but I wasn't aware of any agreement over settlement of the river, or having an agreed gap between our borders. On this matter all I knew that had been agreed was we were allowed to settle 2W of the corn and you would settle someway south fo that by the gold. As Mukha did 99% of the diplomacy for our team there's going to be 1 or 2 'accidents', I'm guessing where I'm totally unaware of previous discussions.
This wasn't meant to be an aggressive move and my new cities borders will not overlap or steal any tiles from yours as far as I know.
Once again, I'm sorry if you're a bit pissed over it, but reading through literally tens of thousands of lines of past gmail chat is not going to happen. With that said could you send me an email with ALL previous agreements (signed or unsigned) you made with CBE so nothing like this happens again.
Thanks

I believe you have just invalidated our border treaty Can I ask why you decided to break our agreement without first asking me?

20:33 me: Hi mate
20:34 you able to chat now?
Portugal: yeah
england just told me
and we agreed
me: cool
so, border agreement?
Portugal: right yeah
20:35 there's that irrigated corn marble, problem is that river between us, we haven't defogged the northern side of it
just good visibility on the southern western side of it
me: if you want to take a screenshot of that area, I'll do the same, create a composite
just of that area
20:36 Portugal: ok
me: what resolution would you like?
also, Alt-i and alt-X
Portugal: just whatever you normally use is fine
bare map resources
me: ok
20:38 Portugal: ok done i'll just email it
one sec
also remind me when speaking to athlete in future
not to say anything
me: ok
20:39 Portugal: to only talk about the weather
me: haa
ok
20:42 while I'm making hte composite, what is it you want from the border treaty? Where would you draw the line south of you?
20:45 Portugal: we were avoiding settling that irrigated corn because it's probably closer to your capital and we didn't want to aggressively settle towards you
if it turned out you got a silks/ corn spot, it wouldn't bother me really
we would prefer to expand to our south west
20:46 corn is almost exactly equidistant between our capitals
20:47 me: I'm trying to figure out a dot map that gets border cities some food while doing this
5 minutes
20:52 me: ffs the composite is a pain without knowing the correct resolution, are you OK if I just send you the screenshots?
20:53 Portugal: yeah that's fine
my res is 1920x 1440 i think
me: ok uploading now
ah
that would be wwhy
20:54 sent
20:56 Portugal: ok thanks
20:59 ok so what do you propose, looking at that the marble naturally fits with the corn city
21:00 me: the marble/corn/spice city looks to be an importnat one
21:01 Portugal: yeah it's confusing swapping these back and forward
but silks doesn't have a food right?
me: no
I'm stuck with that plains sheep
21:02 and can't put both corn and sheep one city, that is basically all the food I have to the NW of my capital
Sullla pretty much screwed me on this map
21:03 Portugal: yeah agree there
well at least it means people steer clear of your lands, they appear to plains wastelands
21:05 me: The annoying thing is I have to setle 2 south of the unirrigated corn in my screenshots
and you can have the corn, but can't figure out where to plant a sheep city
Portugal: so if we settled for corn/marble/spices and you had a sheep/silks
right ok
me: I can't fit in both silks without overlapping the corn
21:06 Portugal: heh yeah
i noticed that
not unless we come up with some time-share rotation
21:07 me: your CRE, can't see that working
Portugal: if we draw in some sort of sw-ne diagonal line between that sheep city, and our corn city
that should give us a good idea about korean lands also
21:08 although it's really just easier to actually propose cities that divide the resources fairly
well it's fairer anyway
21:09 me: well, there is a nice irrigated wheat, copper, spices, lots of river grasslands city you can plant
to the NE of Conenant
but without knowing hte food situation...
Portugal: yeah
21:10 there's a plains sheep out there as well
but it's all pretty food poor
21:11 me: is it OK if me WC heals where it is, then uncovers the FoW to the east?
Portugal: yeah that's fine
5 minutes
21:17 me: ok, just to nail down your city placement, it will be 2W of the irrigated corn?
21:18 Portugal: yeah that's right
21:20 me: well, that is the first bit. What about that irrigated wheat that was next to Rheims?
21:22 Portugal: hang on, i have french screenshots maintenance for either of us would be killer though for those cities
and it depends how you are planning for those silks
me: thinking more long term here
Well, I can't really settle for the second one
due to food situation, so it will be yours at 100 culture
21:24 Portugal: so if you're settling 1s of the wheat on your side
that naturally fits with a spot 2 w of gold
21:25 me: I'm ok with settling 2w of the gold, for the wheat and wine
21:26 Portugal: ok that sounds ok
21:27 but we would like if that was perhaps the limit of your nw expansion so we can have a city to the nw of that one
21:28 me: I don;t think I would settle north west of that wheat
lets say
draw a line between the row of tiles that has the wheat and the row north
21:29 heading west
and we both agree to not settle within a tile or two of the line, you to hte north, me to the south
21:30 Portugal: ok but that line shouldn't extend to the west beyond the wheat though
21:31 me: extend for 20 tiles?
Portugal: or it cuts us off from all french land entirely
me: ah, ok
that's what you mean
21:32 Portugal: i mean the way we are aligned diagonally means a line really should run in some sort of haphazard diagonal fashion
me: ok, np with that
not sure how to draw it, but I udnerstand hte gist of it
Portugal: but for the territory i think we are agreed on the important resource tiles
21:33 you get the gold, irrigated wheat and wine
me: you get irrigated corn, marble, spice
21:34 Portugal: ok, and after we should keep in contact and discuss further settling
me: yup
21:35 Portugal: ok, keep in touch then
i'll speak to you late
r
me: cya later mate

sunrise retreated in the west, and passed up a chance to raze Bad Ass. If they had roaded, and positioned teh HAas far west as possible last turn...it could have been a complete bloodbath, and split medown the middle. I'll make a graphical illustration tonight.
However, I am happy with this turn out. I can't go back to peace build...but I didn't lose anything other than the 3 WC, and India deleted 2 workers, lost 2 HA...andit couldhave gone an awful lot worse for us.

India lost 2 knights taking out a guerilla 2 LB and an archer
180 hammers for 75? I'll take that. I've lost my sentry net to the north...but I don't need it any more...yet I'm really tempted to go and set up a new one, to see how many resources I can waste of Indias'.
Lib due in a few hours when the turn rolls over, Banking the turn after that...Drama and GP due in 8 turns after Lib from Maya, PP shouldn't take long either...doing OK on the Tech front, as Portugal just got Banking. Just need to get out some workers, settlers missionaries and barb busters now, and keep up in city count.

And India planted a city towards me. Probably on the safest possible tile; The Kneck has the second border expansion in 8 turns.
