[SPOILERS!] Pericles of Babylon. Kyan, Twinkletoes, Whosit.

Oh, and since we've lacked pictures (well, Civ-related pictures), I took a shot of each of our cities. See the sorry state of our empire.

Genesis:

Exodus:

Leviticus:

Joshua:

Judges:

Ruth:

(In retrospect, I didn't need to label any of the pictures because the names are already there.)

I'm curious, why are your cities so far below the happy caps? Lack of food?

Pretty much. You can see that Genesis doesn't have very much food left. Exodus only has hill pigs for food. Leviticus hasn't grown that big mainly because we have had to keep whipping it just to get any production out of the damn city. It can't be a good GP farm if it can't run any specialists.

Numbers . . . numbers was founded for the Gold. All it has is plains cows for food (worse than dry rice!) and the few grassland Farms we've laid down.

Joshua is more promising, with a (currently unirrigated) Corn and some flood plains. Hey, Kyan, we need to irrigate that corn!

Judges . . . well, it needs a lot of farms to even hope to work most of those hills.

Ruth should be killer since it has practically nothing but flood plains. Each tile worked is +1 surplus (we're eventually looking at a +15 food surplus! yikes). Lots of specialists here, eventually, though dunno if we'll have enough slots to support them all. But I can't justify caste system just for a couple of cities, I think, but maybe we can make an exception here. 7 specialists is nothing to sneeze at. 8 if we farm that grassland tile. 48 gpppt with our Philo bonus.

Yeah. Major pain. Game hardly moves. Still wondering why we're not techers, though. Did we fall behind on beaker output? And are we funders indefinitely or only temporally? That will affect what infrastructure we need to build a little bit.

We're funding for now, then teching banking at 100% then funding Mali thru Printing Press. The other guys are simply pulling more beakers than us now i'm afraid. Although, we are cheaper smile

I replied to your PM about our 3 way game by the way. Oh and moved a few tile builds around to optimise them slightly in the 1 time i did get in. Nothing major.

Hmm. We'll have to find a way to correct that. However, for now, it'll give me an excuse to get you to build us some Banks and Markets. Those will be important for us down the road, anyway. So, what are we going to do with the incoming Great Scientists? Academies are good long-term investments, even if they don't do us a ton of good at the moment. Bulbs are possible, but it's kind of late in the game for bulbing.

Do you happen to remember what changes you made? Hopefully nothing at Numbers. I was proud of that!

By the way, Kyan, what do you think of the proposition out there to increase the timer to 36 hours? Should we vote yes?
Reply

I would vote yes. Anything to avoid the pauses and game is taking longer than that per turn anyhow. Whosit, would you be willing to handle the turn playing for a bit? I'll keep up with diplo and keep you informed if so.
Reply

Yeah, I should be able to handle it, especially if the timer gets extended. The only risk is that I'll get so lulled into complacency by all these pauses that I forget to actually check the game once it starts again. bang

'Course, the break gives us a theoretical opportunity to go into more detailed discussions on how to handle our position, but we have kind of covered a lot. The only other big issue is further expansion. I'd probably want to get a couple more units out of Exodus to cover a Settler for Horses, but all that land to the north does not fill me with eagerness to head out there. Far from the capital, and generally food poor from what I recall. cry

Oh, how far are we all from Gunpowder? Guilds has already been passed around, right? So Gunpowder can't be far behind. I'm still kind of worried that our border with the Spectre Council is guarded by a Bowman and two mis-promoted Warriors. Losing Leviticus is not the way I'd want a potential war to begin.
