We could let him die. Or take his cities ourselves. I guess he'd like that more? It is costing us something like 25 gold per turn to station a large portion of our army in his land. Anyways, we're just talking. We haven't actually done either thing, so....

Hey Guys!
Congrats on my conquest. I've made it up to page 105 of your thread which is right about the time the war of ~T100 started against you guys.
First off let me jus say what a great thread this is. I meant to go to bed over an hour ago and have told the angry Mrs. to go back to bed I'm learning here! ok I'm not always the brightest but hey.
@Sullla: A couple of times you mentioned you just don't trust me (or me and Kalin). Was there something in particular I did that caused that or was that just your general read on me? I gather your relationship (and speakers relationship) with sunrise outside of the game had an effect on your view of me because I did mislead them. I couldn't very well announce I was going to attack them though! Secondly once we had declared war on you was there any way I could have recovered from that? I honestly had visions/daydreams of an Indian/Ottoman final 2.
Also @ Rego. I had a good chuckle at the e-mail that was never sent and the comments from lurkers that followed. The mis-click post was something I'd gladly take back. My intensity toward the game mellowed a little bit afterwards so I stopped taking it too seriously and just enjoyed playing.
Sorry for the slightly off-topic post guys. I haven't read anything past page 105 yet so I don't know anything that's happened since I was eliminated. I'm pretty sure the game is well out of reach for everybody else though and you only need to read a few pages of this thread before you understand why. Congrats on the well played game and as you stated early on you need to support the underdogs so while it's probably futile Go anybody that can stop the Killer Angels!

Personally I think the Spullla would be gone now if the Coalition of Willing went as planned. Instead what was supposedly a 5vs1 became a 2vs1 since Dantski pulled out early, Nakor didn't contribute many troops, and Whosit arrived late (and again didn't contribute that many troops). And as Sullla said a failed war can arguably put you back even more, especially if all you are doing is training troops.
Civilization IV sure runs like a dream on my new computer.

Sullla Wrote:Gee, I wonder what's going on here? Note that Nakor also moved in the first half of the turn, to line up with the timing rules currently in effect. So apparently a 3 vs 1 ISN'T ENOUGH. No, we need to have a 4 vs 1, including EVERY MEMBER of the RBPB3 team. Uh huh.
I'm sorry, but that is f*cking bullshit. Not mincing words or being polite here, that - is - bullshit. This is not like the RBPB1 alliance against an Incan team that had double the cities of anyone else, and a long history of aggression against other teams. No, this is a gangbang based purely upon the reputations of the players involved, and with friends from other games pooling their resources together. Don't even try to tell me that the RBPB3 teammates aren't carrying over their alliance into this game. Grade "A" bullshit.
Even worse, the teams are making no effort to win the game just for the sake of trying to take us down. I don't fault teams for doing what's in their best interests to win, and Dantski and Jowy have legit reasons for teaming up against us. But Nakor?!? Kathlete?!?! They're not making any effort to build up their own civs, just gangbanging the "rockstar" team for fun. And yes, that really pisses me off. There's an implicit agreement in a game like this that everyone will do what's best for their team, and try to achieve victory. I view Kathlete and Nakor's actions as an egregious violation of the spirit of this game.
Imagine if Dreylin, Ruff, athlete, and mostly_harmless all declared war on sooooo in the RB PBEM game just because he had the best reputation, and athlete + mh were sending soldiers to the other side of the world, for no gain to themselves, just to strike down someone who had a strong reputation. That's basically what we have here...
I don't even know where to go from here. I honestly have no desire to keep playing this game right now. I just want to post a giant "F*CK YOU" in the public forum and wash my hands of the whole thing.
I haven't made it past this post to see if your attitude changed as the battle progressed but it's hardly fair to claim mine and Nakor's actions are an egregious violation of the spirit of this game. Kalin and I aren't fools. You had a GNP more than double ours (the next highest in the game) and our GNP was boosted via culture. You managed to expand extremely fast and you had an academy before 1000 BC! When an opponent looks at that and compares it to how they've started, something clearly needed to be done about you guys asap before you became a complete run-away train. I was completely honest when I said I didn't want to see a winner in medieval times.
We happened to have units that would complement an attack on you from Jowy and him not getting Byz metal was a huge thing for us. If it had been just us though you would have wiped the field easily. As it happened you still very much came out the victor. I can also prove that RBPB3 had nothing to do with this attack on you as I've stated to you previously.
Anyways I hope you don't mind the comments on the older stuff. I'm slowly getting caught up!

OK so after reading a bit further it looks like you guys have been through the ringer about this already. Sorry about bringing it up more. If you feel up to it I'd love to hear your responses and ideally shed some light from my point of view and discuss it. As it is/(was?) let me know and I'll leave it alone.

Overall we are more concerned with the way you manipulated the clock for 100+ turns, pretty much refusing to end your turn ever, if it didn't 100% suit you, despite logging in multiple times every turn. That was incredibly annoying.
Also, I really don't understand why Athlete would have to read all the other threads and the 2800-post lurker thread before he posts in here. Who died and made Krill the boss of the Realms Beyond posting rules?

I can only imagine the turn ending issue. I'm pretty sure if I had been on the other end of it I would have been annoyed. I was very paranoid about missing a turn or missing my playing window and I didn't want to be requesting pauses all the time. My schedule was so hectic that I knew I could find time to play, just never sure when. Of course it would have been better if I had been able to keep my teammate but sometimes RL comes calling. Sorry about that!

That was incredibly annoying. I'm pretty sure this was explained already. If he did end his turn early, then he would miss his next turn because it starts at a time when he has no chance to play. So by not ending his turn, we don't need to reload after every single turn and so we end up actually saving time by going the full 24 hours. Normally you probably shouldn't sign up for a pitboss if you didn't have much time in your hands, but Athlete, like myself, both started with a teammate that had to drop out, and in addition when we signed up there was no rule about splitting the turn for wars. We all signed up in understanding that we have 24 hours to play our turns and I don't think it's really fair to criticize someone for not being able to play in only 12 turns, half of what we were supposed to have. Btw when we voted for the turn split rule, we never even reached anonymous decision, just more than half voted for "yes" so the rule was adapted.
Hopefully that clears things up.
