[Spoilers] Defining the phrase "€˜Hung Like a Horse"€™: Pb & the Kuriotates

Kyan Wrote:It sounds like i got the wrong event. That's what i get for trying to be helpful when it comes to FfH! Sorry matey for any confusion.
Not a problem at all.

You brought up another type of event, and spawned a discussion which helped us figure out what Bob likely did.

It's all good. smile

Turn 45:

Vanilla Ice over in the East is most definitely in trouble.
The two lizardmen have now joined up and seem to be competing with each other for a new rat-skin cloak.

Since finding Cull I’ve been solely reacting to the barb movements, but this turn I’ve made a decision regarding my next aim.
Two choices really, try and find Bob by heading South, or head West to Archduke/back home.
Vanilla Ice really needs to stop up and heal, but I don’t think that he’s going to get the opportunity.

So the plan is: head West and try and shake off the lizards via two moving between hills/forests.
If the lizards just walk exactly in his footsteps, that’s obviously not going to happen. But if I start zig zagging, they may make a mistake. *shrugs*
I can’t two move through what appears to be a thick rainforest-type jungle, so that’s why we’re going West.

If I can’t shake them off, then Vanilla Ice’s final mission will be to deliver those lovely lizardmen (+ a couple of combat promotions from his death) into the arms of either Archduke or Selrahc, in particular the latter’s possibly poorly defended second city.
Sareln is a distant third choice for this kind of stunt, but the choice may not be mine.

If I’m desperate enough, I may even explore a lair with Vanilla Ice.
He’s 4/5 xp, and exploring always grants 1xp, no matter the outcome.
Worst case scenario, it spawns even more barbs, far away from me.

Picture a ratman with his tail on fire running screaming into one of my rivals’ cities, that sort of thing.

Over at Kwythellar, all is going as planned.
Bob and Boggy B continue to move to their positions.

Clogz moved onto the plains hill and gained sight of a deer resource. smile Next turn he’ll move N along the hills.
Beefy moved SE, will move NE to join Clogz on the hill next turn, then will move SE to stand sentry on the forested hill.

The deer resource makes the already preferred purple location a clear winner.
It won’t be much of an immediate help, being in the 3rd cultural ring and requiring hunting.
But it’s a lot better than the locations I was considering up until now.

Demographics:

Nothing much going on.

Selrach gained +1 pop in his capital, so he’s size 5 now.
Archduke likely still the worst GNP at 11, which suggests he’s going for a level 1 tech like Exploration or Crafting.

I'd take credit, but, you know, its mostly a natural map :neenernee.

Hah, you and I still need to have a sincere heart to heart in a sound-proofed room about this map.

Between the thumps and muffled yells of pain, the words "expansion space", "river start" and "wtf did I bribe you for?" shall be clearly audible.

Turn 46:

Vanilla Ice moved NW-SW.
Good thing to note is that the Lizardmen moved W, not SW onto the tile Vanilla Ice was in last time.
Maybe I can lose them…maybe.

Next turn will move NW then either NW or SW.
I think I can see Sareln’s borders in the tile bleed 2NW.
If so, I’d prefer not to head there.

Nothing much happening at Kwythellar, Bob the worker started farming the mana noda, Boggy B reached the target forest tile, will probably move N onto the hill to fortify next.
Meanwhile Beefy moved onto the plains hill, while Clogz moved N to reveal a grassland sheep. =)

[Image: civ4screenshot0011.jpg][Image: civ4screenshot0012z.jpg]

Now we’re getting somewhere, and that throws up a lot of interesting dotmap possibilities.
Will wait until I’ve defogged a few more tiles in the area before redrawing, maybe there’s another food out there!

Lots of stuff happening next turn, as Mysticism comes in, Kwythellar grows, and a warrior is produced (configured for max overflow, currently 15/16 hammers).

Bob gained +1 pop to reach size 6. Confirms he took the +1 happy.
Bit surprising though, as it’s hard at this early stage to lose pop except by starving. I often just ignore those types of ‘temporary happy’ events.
So either he expects to hook up a happy resource soon or he’s being weedy.

Selrahc is working a 2f/1h tile in his capital with his new pop point. Has a crop yield of 19, Mfg goods of 7.
Clearly he’s trying to grow it, but the surplus must be still be around +3 at best. :thumbsdow

Also, Bob gained a tech this turn. That was fast.

pocketbeetle Wrote:Bob:
Last turn that he researched a tech: T24 -> Assigned Agri or Anc Chants
Next turn he researched a tech: T37
Therefore gap = 13 turns
GNP during period: 15-16 ie research 13-14.
13 turns x 13.5 = 176b
At 172b, that nicely fits Calendar.
I’d say that so far, Bob is following a perfectly predictable tech line: beelining Agristocracy, heading soon for CoL.
He currently is researching something with no prereq, Anc chants or Crafting.

Last turn that he researched a tech: T37 -> Assigned Edit: Calendar [strike]Anc Chants or Crafting[/strike]
Next turn he researched a tech: T46

Therefore gap = 9 turns
GNP during period: 16-17 ie research 14-15.
9 turns x 14.5 = 130b

At 129b, Crafting is a nice match.

There are only two reasons to take Crafting, either Bob is heading for Mining or he has wines in his BFC.
I should also check his GNP at some point, 16-17 while researching something with no preqreq is quite high.

I really don't understand anything about FfH, apart from you fight the barbs with crap units for most of the game.

I'm going out on a limb and guessing Krill is genuinely curious this one time.
