He will?

I got it right. It was weird getting used to the extra big BFC though. The EBFC.

Nothing exciting happening this turn except Vanilla Ice WILL die. He's totally trapped between a bear and a lizardman with no outs. Only way to survive would be to declare on Selrahc and skirt thru his lands but i'm told that's a no-go by PB.

So long brave Vanilla Ice.

Why cast Legends 5t after settling?

Ok, so get this. Despite chasing us for like half the game, the lizardman who had finally his opportunity to take out Vanilla Ice decided to bugger off and go elsewhere. I would guess into Dark Elf land.

Better yet, the bear decided to leave me alone also. Vanilla Ice lives!lol

I had a few choices and i took the path i felt was best. Namely exploring that lair right between Illians and Dark Elves. And....

I got a Savant. A savant is an Ashen Veil missionary.... he has strength 3 and medic 1 though so he's fairly useful for now. Very random. PB, i guess i just try to move him safely home? If you'd even want Ashen Veil religion that is? It's 'evil' but then again maybe a free religion is still a good thing?

In FfH if i popped a missionary from a hut for an undiscovered religion i'd be whooping with joy. I decided to mvoe him into forest protection in case the bear gets frisky next turn. It's worth noting that Illians will know exactly what has happened.

Your micro was off and i had to play around and work a 4food farm to ensure growth and warrior in 1 turn. No matter.

Sweet - what are the chances, in your opintion, of getting him home safe??

IF a) i'm patient and stick to forests and
b) Illians don't decide to kill him as my only safe route is to stick near their border

Then pretty good. Of course he's currently next to a bear (strength 5) vs him (strength 3 + 50% = str 4.5) so if the bear gets frisky this could all be moot. However, the bear has an easier snack in Vanilla Ice and doesn't seem to be too aggresive as he let me live last turn.

PB- If you get any diplomatic flak for opening that there, just blame me. I'm a total noob and didn't really know what it did etc. It's a good lie because it's kinda true hehe.

This made me laugh. Interesting outcome.

Good job. thumbsup
The important thing was that the city grew and produced the warrior at the same time, a delay in either one meant a 1t delay to the next worker which would have screwed up the roading plan badly.

Kyan, I'm starting to think we should all pool our money together to take you and Scooter to Vegas.
Scooter can do the sports betting and we'll stick you on the roulette.
We'd be millionaires in no time.

Okay, problem is I'm a bit blind here, could do with a screenshot. Without doubt a 'free religion' is a big thing.
Admittedly I'm not keen on going AV: I'm not interested in the Infernals and having it in all the cities would cause problems if I later wanted to go Order.
But even so, it would be very nice to get the missionary home for safekeeping, opening up a lot of options including denial.
Eg if we were to get Open Borders with Selrahc and then found the religion in his capital. He's Agnostic and so that could mean nobody gets the benefit of the AV shrine? (I believe all religious buildings including shrines are forbidden to him).
Alternatively, an early medic unit is nothing to sniff at.

Couple of questions:
Is it possible to move around the bear, or is he blocking the entire North off?
Is the lizardman definitely out of the picture, or is he still adjacent/ within striking distance?

Screenshot would definitely help, but off the top of my head here's what I'd suggest:
  • Vanilla Ice probably has 5xp now, recommend Guerilla promotion if there are a lot of hills around for dealing with the bear, or Combat I if you think a constant +20% will be more helpful/ you have to attack the bear.
  • Try and walk the savant home, escorted by Vanilla Ice.
Archduke can wait for the moment, the savant gives options and having a promoted scout at home to keep an eye out for spiders is not a bad thing.
  • Either go South of Selrahc or North, depending on which looks safer and whether the bear lets you.
  • If the savant dies this turn, either try and kill the bear if you get decent odds (Combat I), or move away and heal up, then head for Archduke.
  • Same goes for the savant if Vanilla Ice dies this turn, except see if you can kill the bear with respectable odds (~80%?), then either heal up/get to somewhere safe and head for home.
  • Stick close to Selrahc's borders like you said, don't worry about him attacking.
If he does, losing the missionary is not the end of the world, and frankly the early warning of hostile intentions are potentially worth more.
  • With the bear: it's less a case of it being a pacifist bear and more a case of the AI decided not to attack that particular turn.
Animals have a %age chance to attack each turn, some are more aggressive (Griffons), some are less. (Readers, please feel free to correct me on this.)
So there's a good chance the bear will have chomped on one of the units this turn. Obviously I'll be happy to be wrong here.
    • Splitting them up was the right thing to do however.
The savant is higher value than a scout, and as you pointed out, Vanilla Ice is the more likely target due to lower base str + damaged.
    • Don't forget that the bear shouldn't get terrain modifiers. So if he's badly damaged, he's fair game whether on the forested hill or flatland.

I may be around later, but if you're happy that you know what to do, go for it.
You certainly seem to be handling everything nicely. smile

I'll do a better report with screenshots next turn mate. Though they're going mighty slow. *cough* Cull *cough*.

I think i misunderstood about being able to explore lairs with zero movement left but its worked out all right on this occasion hehe.

EDIT: Reason for my slacking is im trying to get PBEM10's map up and running for them asap so it's taking up a lot of my time.
