I usually just use flying camera to get the shot I want. I actually went back in to take a more zoomed in picture but the last two players had played and turn rolled. IE I could either edit my post for new turn stuff or post as is and go read my book.....
[PB75 Mjmd] Call to Power
|
T89
PB70 double food island city that kept on delaying its Great Scientist due to whipping and drafting and never in fact birthed it. Was part of my long term plan for a rare 4 person GA (debatable if this was in fact a good strategy or if I would have done, but listen I just wanted to prove America = busted). Civac and Ginger did the thing I like to do. Currency + HG + a bunch of cities. 13 is respectable if not great, but then again this map isn't anywhere near as lush as PB70 so fair enough. I will 100% bet civac chopped out gold for currency; seems to be something he does most games. Again, I am doing this game as well, but I normally don't. Anyways, also found Rickety (you can barely see the culture). Gav is indeed headed there. Due to massive SD power I'm betting SD repeating PB51 and invading some poor green with Praets either is happening or about to. My scout is sadly going to get pushed back, but ah well. I know I said I would interfere if Gav was invading, but if SD is also invading ya no. Also, I'm 9th in power and have very few plans to change that much (a little, but not a ton) so Gav bordering SD would be nice. Naufs GNP SPIKED last turn. No currency from him yet though, but maybe push towards. After asking and asking Civac and Ginger FINALLY gave me open borders which helped my economy quite a bit. Although 2 cities still only have internal routes for some reason. Gav will settle a city so maybe that will update. While I was in game Dreylin contacted me looking for writing. LONG WAY MATE. I've been checking your screen constantly too trust me. Again our side of the world has been horrendous for trade routes. People elsewhere have probably made bank just because people did normal tech routes. Gav and I went to priesthood and I'm betting Greenline did to (I did flick through espionage graph but brain didn't register so will remember to check again). Dreyline looks like he is the 2nd IW player as he now has 2 gems up and running (lucky bugger). (March 14th, 2024, 21:07)Mjmd Wrote: Although 2 cities still only have internal routes for some reason. Participated in: Pitboss 40 (lurked by Mr. Cairo), Pitboss 45 (lurked by Charriu and chumchu), Pitboss 63 (replaced Mr. Cairo), Pitboss 66, Pitboss 69, Pitboss 74
Participating in: Pitboss 78 (lurked by GT), Pitboss 79 (lurking giraflorens) Criticism welcome!
I did end up getting the extra gold. Cities being settled makes trade routes get recalculated. Although this turn I have trade routes to SD somehow??? I am very confused by that.

With being mid month and turns slowing down to 1 a day I finally have time for some more history.
PB65 2nd city. Solid slow commerce city but it did what I needed for expansion. PB61 greens game history. I wasn't playing in this one, but I organized and I was ded lurking. Here is the quick note history form Charriu posts plus some real quick skimming. To note neighbor luck with greens matters A TON. I say this having just discovered Rickety on 3 cities in current game getting eaten by SD and my only hope is Gav counterweights. Quote:- Map was oblong pangea with couple of inland seas So this was my 2nd game ded lurking and 1st game doing so solo. Also first time I did so via discord. Bellarch and I had a lot in common in play style, which might have actually been a bad thing as I definitely didn't tell Bellarch to relax enough. Something I tried to do a much better job at when ded lurking Aetryn in the next greens game. I also may have been too hands on especially with early game micro. Not as much as some other ded lurkers this game and other, but still maybe more than I should. That being said Victoria of Inca was a lovely combination that insured relevancy for Bellarch and he got to play a good game that went late into Renaissance.
PB63 - 3rd city.
We were talking about good border cities before and this ranks pretty high. Can't get much better than over a river on a hill. Quote:Anyways, I decided to make myself happy and finish Colossus instead of things I probably should build for the war. Overall GREAT city. T94 Anyways, anyone remember me saying this? Quote:T80 YAAAA not sure if anyone reported it or just lurkers weren't curious but I rolled a 3%? great engineer. Now I did the payback science wise on settling and it was only 40 turns, but come on I'm NEB!!! Of course I bulbed Metal Casting!!!! A) I like Colossus better than Great Lighthouse (I may still start it but I don't think I actually want to finish) B) I am industrious so forges are really good. C) fun? HOW IS MONO STILL AVAILABLE!!!! Sure I had some bad luck early with getting beat to or have to compete for stuff, but some things are just hanging out there which is odd with 10 players. I obviously want org religion and need to bulb Theo anyways. Lets say this I was going to spread Gav's Buddhism if I had to, before he razed my only city that had it..... Will be plopping down a city T95, T97, and T98. Plan chop wealth also starts next turn. I already whipped a max 3 whip settler, so will be whip almost max 2 pop whip forge > already whipped settler > 48/50 barracks > either spear then whipped 14/15 scout or just whipped scout. I don't think I'll have pop for another 1 pop whip plus I do want to save some happy. In something has gone really wrong, see this Rickety city. 3 villages but no fish netted. SD must have taken out his copper fairly early. I looked around for someone with a spare, but no one does. But ya based on 6 pop it looks like he probably wasn't looking at power graph. Sigh. There is a reason I give greens ded lurkers, but you have to actually USE them, which I get the sense he wasn't (or if it was on discord the non netted fish was just missed). I'll report more next turn with future tech plans and where religion popped up or if it gets stolen.
T63 nearest and cultural lynchpin to holding central island. Other two cities were captured or razed multiple times, but held firm here. With 2 fish and Colossus coast made it a pretty good city.
T95 I did get Judiasm. It popped in JohnPualJones 66. Not a bad city as it has descent natural production and the culture will help get its full cross against Gavs holy city. I forgot to mention last turn but Gav accepted my crab for crab. Predictably he invaded Rickety. He has 6 HA and 4 WC against 1 Quencha.... His 9 pop capital has 3 quenchas, two of which are promoted shock so I imagine SD is near. Something that I didn't note last turn but that struck me this turn is that all of his 'cottages' are roaded. Huge waste of worker turns. He is still better than SaC in PB65 who didn't know what a road was and was WAY worse at playing their turns. Anyways, on one side of me I have a large lake and a narrow border with Greenline. On the other I have a currently narrow border with Gav who will soon border SD and I'm super curious who will get the capital. The river bends such that it would be easier for Gav to defend, but next turn will see if I can spot how close SD is. This is a long way of me saying I've been debating on tech path for a bit. I was going to do monarchy for serfdom, but I did some math and thinking. Serfdom once my cities are a little higher pop will be between 9-10 gold. Not bad, but that is half of what currency would give. Now Monarchy is about half the cost of that tech path, but with golden age coming up I think I still want to do currency. Getting libraries and markets sooner is a huge plus. Being able to still whip with my soon to be worlds weakest military is also nice. Also, there are still quite a few mediocre cities to settle and being able to whip settlers is nice. Serfdom will likely be for 2nd GA then which will also put me close to windmills which help make up for lack of whipping.
T96
This hurts my soul. The forests, lack of work boat, all of it. BTW with how pop is calced I'm actually BELOW Rickety. I'm seriously debating delaying GA even just 4 turns for some more pop (also conveniently when Moai finishes). I'll have more thoughts T100. Greenline putting EP into me so lost his graphs. Slightly worried, but I also keep forgetting to check so he could have been doing for turns and I just didn't notice. Ib got an extra 12. (March 19th, 2024, 10:01)Mjmd Wrote: T95 T99 Gav didn't roll the turn and neither are SDs 4 praets in Rickety's former capital dead. So ya I expect that despite multiple crab for crabs including the one 6 turns ago I will open T100 to a Gav stack. I have been building spears, but most of them haven't gotten to the front lines yet, because I thought I would have 4 more turns........ (also Ginger was scouting with a chariot so had to cover some workers). Hopefully I'm wrong. It wouldn't make sense, but then again Gav went after me the first time with Rickety on his other side he probably could have rolled over so who knows. Obviously if it looks like I'm crumbling SD can just roll in. If I was Gav I would probably have A) gone after the easier target to begin with, but B) in current circumstance I would just tech and naturally expand. He has the best leader for the map. It is also telling that despite him going into monarchy he didn't switch away from slavery to serfdom even for 5 turns. |
