[SPOILERS] scooter Expands the Empire Across the Sea

You mean this game and Pitboss 70? There is also Pitboss 69. Miguelito started the thread, but Ginger was supposed to be the main player. Luckily Miguelito saved us and then their civilization was eliminated.
Participated in: Pitboss 40 (lurked by Mr. Cairo), Pitboss 45 (lurked by Charriu and chumchu), Pitboss 63 (replaced Mr. Cairo), Pitboss 66Pitboss 69, Pitboss 74
Participating in: Pitboss 78 (lurked by GT), Pitboss 79 (lurking giraflorens)

Criticism welcome!

Yeah, I made the "solo player" distinction. His other games it seems pretty obvious that it's mostly Migulito pulling weight. PB70 was his last solo game. I saved that game by replacing him, but I can't do it again here unfortunately.

PYFT ratings matter, unfortunately. It's always sad to see a unique game struggle like this.

Yeah. I was worried about this from the start, actually, but I pushed my concerns aside. My thinking was myself, Yuris, and Bing are all extremely reliable. SD often plays later than he says he's going to play, and he almost never plays early to open up faster pace, but he does get the turn played pretty consistently. So I was hoping that would all add up to enough. Unfortunately, sequential is a "weak link" setting.

To be fair, Ginger has been solo turnplayer for PB75 and has not slowed us down (apart from maybe one issue with a laptop charger).

That's good to hear, actually, as I didn't know he was playing that one solo.

On the other hand, we just had 2 straight days with no turn because he couldn't bother to move his scout. So we'll see what happens.

Possible then this was a false alarm and a question of people not properly signing up for pbspy or something. I'll choose to be optimistic after being pessimistic yesterday. So, onward we go.

The surrounding area is pretty rough and doesn't have a lot to like. Most notably, there is absolutely 0 early game happy here. That's really tough. I wanted this to be a game where I could avoid the religious line, but I'm more or less forced to invest down the center of the tree early for Monarchy. That and/or we have to grab a religion and eat a revolt or two. I really didn't want Oracle this game at all, but I think I have to at least consider Oracling Monarchy or something. Would really prefer not to.

In addition, our dotmap is more or less decided for us by default. These dots are just about ironclad. We have to settle Yellow first because that's the best only shareable food in the area, and that's really the only place for it. Green is next and should be right around the time the Fish come into borders there, and it's at least a somewhat exciting city. Then purple 4th. It's hard to tell if there's much land north of yellow. Fog-gazing there's definitely something there, so fingers crossed on happy in the fog. I guess maybe there's a case to be made for green over yellow, but I'm really skeptical. Either way we will be sailing the seas ASAP because this land is simply not very good, so we may as well get going. Commerce is going to be a challenge this game.

... isn't that, like, the entire premise of this game, that you put forth? smile
