There is an admin-feature in PBSpy to prepare modupdate, but I'm pretty sure you still need to change files on the server itself. I'd rather not test what it does.

Got a response. Zulan is on a business trip, back first week in October and can do the swap then.

I'm not going to have Engineering in the next dozen turns or so we would play before the first week of October; I'm ok to keep playing with normal longbows until then, and will keep in mind that any hammers invested into incomplete longbows will disappear when the swap happens

So long as everyone else is OK with that then I'll play on; I'm aware that in the event the rehost doesn't work (if someone put locked modified assets on then we might be in trouble) then there are few options remaining to us.

Going forward, is it possible to get a mod in that just ADDS the landsknecht? So it won't ruin investment, just gives a new unit?
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

This should be possible.
Add the Landsknecht as a new unit and forbid all civs to build this unit.
