The great thing is you are not only very entertaining in your thread but with your ingame-actions too. Many thanks for your roleplaying and extremly entertaining discussion with Selrahc.

Well then hereâs another chat, =) with added spellchecking because we were both mashing randomly at the keyboard.
Quote: (4:00:29 PM) Selrahc: Hey
(4:00:37 PM) pocketbeetle: Hi
(4:00:41 PM) Selrahc: Very nice information.
(4:00:52 PM) Selrahc: I'm really curious how you got it.
(4:00:52 PM) pocketbeetle: Yeah, what are your thoughts?
(4:01:10 PM) pocketbeetle: Not me that got it, Veez did
(4:01:21 PM) Selrahc: Heh. Okay.
(4:01:41 PM) Selrahc: Well. I think Sareln has managed to pull off survival.
(4:01:59 PM) Selrahc: And I'm not surprised that the others want to delay my conquest of him.
(4:02:17 PM) Selrahc: You think I shouldn't go and kill Cull?
(4:02:47 PM) pocketbeetle: Well obviously that's your choice.
But not really, no
(4:02:59 PM) pocketbeetle: I think as you say
(4:03:17 PM) pocketbeetle: Sareln has survived. You won't be able to kill him any time soon, they'll just play this shell game with you
(4:03:17 PM) Selrahc: Sareln is definitely getting his city burned down.
(4:04:12 PM) Selrahc: But they've only got so many shells... once I've crushed them all then I'll start finding the um.. peas.
(4:04:17 PM) pocketbeetle: lol
(4:04:19 PM) Selrahc: Or whatever is in the shells.
(4:04:35 PM) pocketbeetle: Sure, but that's a long distance to travel at 1 tile/turn
(4:04:42 PM) Selrahc: What would you suggest I do?
(4:05:11 PM) pocketbeetle: Well, like I said
(4:05:22 PM) pocketbeetle: I think it's significant that Cull has got the shitty end of the deal
(4:05:47 PM) pocketbeetle: He's given up his second city for a while, potentially pissed off his neighbour (you) etc etc
(4:06:13 PM) pocketbeetle: While Bob is getting the same reward, (palace mana, possible vassaldom?) for the price of what? A settler?
(4:06:24 PM) pocketbeetle: How long does it take you to produce a settler in Silent Night? 7 turns?
(4:06:25 PM) Selrahc: In talking to Bob I get the impression he is pretty scared of the Priests. I'm thinking he had to be heavily convinced into participating at all.
(4:06:41 PM) Selrahc: Ish
(4:07:09 PM) pocketbeetle: Seems to me that he was the first to join, that message already had him signed up, they were just looking for a second 'sponsor?' I think was the word
(4:07:28 PM) pocketbeetle: So that's my worry anyway
(4:08:00 PM) pocketbeetle: I'm worried about strong vampires, currently growing very nicely, with a permanent vassal to support him behind
(4:08:01 PM) Selrahc: So you think I should sign peace with Sareln and march on Bob?
(4:08:24 PM) pocketbeetle: I have no thoughts about Sareln, other than I don't think you can kill him at the moment.
(4:08:44 PM) pocketbeetle: When it comes down to Bob or Cull however, I think Bob has done better out of this deal, and is a bigger threat
(4:08:51 PM) pocketbeetle: Those are my thoughts
(4:08:52 PM) Selrahc: I'd agree on that. The settler could be practically anywhere right now.
(4:09:19 PM) Selrahc: Right.
(4:09:31 PM) Selrahc: Hmm.
(4:09:40 PM) pocketbeetle: Up to you (and Auric Ulvin) to make the big decisions.
(4:10:12 PM) Selrahc: Yeah.
(4:10:30 PM) pocketbeetle: Was Bob messing with you then? when he was talking about helping you find the Svartalfar with a map deal?
(4:11:32 PM) Selrahc: He was definitely not telling the whole truth.
(4:11:41 PM) Selrahc: Or outright lying.
(4:11:55 PM) pocketbeetle: Okay, well one last food for thought then
(4:12:02 PM) pocketbeetle: Cull's research
(4:12:31 PM) pocketbeetle: The ratmen currently have it on a high possibility that his last tech was Archery.
(4:13:09 PM) Selrahc: Right.
(4:13:14 PM) pocketbeetle: I'm not sure, but even your Priests might find it hard going vs Aggressive archers behind cultural plus the extra Khazad defense. remember he's only got one city to defend
(4:13:45 PM) pocketbeetle: To be clear: this is not certain. It was either archery or one other tech. They're not sure yet.
(4:13:47 PM) Selrahc: He has to build an archery range first...
(4:14:07 PM) pocketbeetle: Agreed. But he's had mining for ages
(4:14:46 PM) Selrahc: So he has good production potential if he needs it, yeah.
(4:14:59 PM) pocketbeetle: Anyway
(4:15:06 PM) pocketbeetle: Having fun in this PBEM so far?
(4:15:14 PM) Selrahc: Yeah!
(4:15:30 PM) pocketbeetle: Good. I think the lurkers are enjoying it also.
(4:15:57 PM) Selrahc: I'm really enjoying the way this standard priest rush has so quickly turned into a web of intrigue
(4:16:17 PM) pocketbeetle: lol. It's getting a reaction, that's definitely true
(4:16:32 PM) Selrahc: I think Sareln's played it pretty well.
(4:16:42 PM) Selrahc: Considering he didn't even try to fight..
(4:16:56 PM) Selrahc: Which is a pretty Svartalfar way to handle things.
(4:16:58 PM) pocketbeetle: Hell, he's managed to convince another player to give up their city and keep him alive. Takes some doing
(4:17:06 PM) pocketbeetle: Agreed
(4:17:06 PM) Selrahc: Yeah.
(4:17:18 PM) Selrahc: In return for palace mana!
(4:17:21 PM) Selrahc: To a dwarf!
(4:17:27 PM) pocketbeetle: lolololol
(4:17:33 PM) pocketbeetle: I didn't see it that way
(4:17:50 PM) pocketbeetle: genius
<<snip>>
The joke here, is that the Khazad don't get to build mages and archmages.
They're stuck at apprentices and level 1 spells only, making palace mana worth considerably less to them.Quote:(4:19:14 PM) pocketbeetle: Well, when/if you make a decision, could you please let me know?
I've got a workboat that's just started heading North to map out the coast.
If you decide to go for Cull, it might as well turn around and go explore elsewhere
(4:19:34 PM) Selrahc: Alright. I'll send you an email
(4:19:41 PM) Selrahc: Probably going to get some food now.
(4:19:46 PM) Selrahc: Thanks for the help.
Selrahc keeps asking me about what I want him to do.
Quote: (4:02:17 PM) Selrahc: You think I shouldn't go and kill Cull?
(4:04:42 PM) Selrahc: What would you suggest I do?
(4:08:01 PM) Selrahc: So you think I should sign peace with Sareln and march on Bob?
And Iâm slightly uncomfortable about it, for a number of reasons.
Iâm not so bothered about having the blood of a player on my hands, but it's his civ, he shouldnât be taking orders from me. Also, I donât want to be perceived as bossing him around, thatâs not setting the table for good relations.
Anyone with half a brain can see what my opinion is however, and I donât for a second think Selrahc is a fool.
But the truth is, I do feel strongly enough on this issue to wonder, maybe, if I should have just said outright âGo attack Bobâ.
Weâll see what his decision is anyway.
- If itâs attacking Cull, well shame, but he should have realised the risk when he agreed to help Sareln.
- If itâs attacking Bob, party hats for every Ratman, siesta siesta!
- If itâs not attacking anyone, Selrahc chooses to stay âpeacefulâ for a while, then its back to DEFCON 1 and Giants asap.
I was just checking out the 'Add Poll to thread' option, sadly it doesn't seem to embed the vote within the thread, but sticks it on the first page.
Nevermind, opinions and votes A/B/C on the success of my diplomacy are welcome.
Which way will Selrahc go I wonder?

Turn 82:
No doubt fertilised by all the Centaurs, forests seem to be springing up around Caledor.
Thatâs not a problem, theyâre a free 8 hammers and only take 2 turns to chop.
I just wish theyâd grow on the roads and save me a turnâs movement!
Moved Bob Marley from the completed glh mine at Kwythellar, heâll help out by chopping into Caledorâs next build.
Over at Avelorn, production switched to a worker.
Bob starts farming the gl tile, after that heâll road it and then move up to complete a road through Stelvio pass.
Selrahcâs workers just completed their road under the corn farm, I suspect heâll move both of them SW then W to complete his section in a much faster time than I can.
Wonder if he fancies doing my part of the road too? Probably not.
While weâre at it, I want to highlight the peak just below the Stelvio sign, letâs call it Mt Stelvio (yes yes I know).
Itâs that peak which is giving me sight on Selrahcâs workers and oversight of the Pass in general.
The cultural ownership of Mt Stelvio is 75:25 in the Kuriosâ favour, and I really donât want to lose it.
I suspect that Selrahc doesnât know exactly where Avelorn is located, and meanwhile his peaks are nicely blocked by all the forested hills.
Iâm wondering if thatâs a convincing reason to build a lumbermill on the forested hill 1W of the sign.
Same tile yield (1f/3h) for a long time, just no chance of resources popping.
Extra health too in fact, good for a no fresh water GP farm.
Yes I think Iâm going to do that.
Ending turn built a market in Caledor, it grows again next turn.
Demographics:
Nothing happening, nada.

Is this based off a chat with him? Because its very easy for him to work out based on which tiles you have culture in

Nice thread - always enjoy your turn reports!
You have access to at least 3 mana nodes already - care to disclose the plans for those and when you will be heading that wy in the tech tree?

This forrest is inside your 'special' working area. Is your health calculated with your 3rd ring or is it the same rule as any other leader ?
