Eh, Maniac, I think it was just confusion because of your ManiCat nom-de-guerre for this game. Sort of like people mistakenly thinking my last name is Eriksson.
I'll also echo Darrell (to whom: Thanks for posting! Although I was a bit surprised before I realized you'd switched over from India to Universal Lurker status) in saying thanks for the comprehensive diplo post!
Maniac Marshall Wrote:OK, thats enough of this for now... Input from both of you would be greatly appreciated at this point. I think you know my preferences with regard to war and peace. Fighting with Ruff seems to me like a bad move unless he initiates combat because winning would make us a bigger target and losing would make us look incompetent at war and thus a more vulnerable target. I also suspect that defense is way, way easier than offense in the era of cannons and rifles. (Since we each have some of both.) On the other hand, attacking may be a diplomatic necessity. I don't really understand our diplomatic position, so I can't attempt to make a guess on that.

What do you think of that?
As mentioned above, I'm leaving the diplomacy alone. Not the part of this game that I enjoy, and I don't see any point in anyone doing anything they don't enjoy for this game, especially at this point.

Most importantly: We haven't enough pictures lately!
Here's the Aztec front:
The cloud of signs basically all say, "road me."
(Some of them are out of date though.)
Also note our terrified front-line cities building...
...infrastructure. Gotta love the draft.
We really need to chop that jungle just SE of Ornata.
Woody rifles there would just get smashed by cannons.
(I'll include this if I have time to extend the microplan.)
(Which shouldn't be hard at <1 turn per week)
Also note Ornata should build culture for a turn by T155.
(Pops 3rd ring 1t sooner that way.)

Maniac, sorry didn't see that 2nd 'a'. I'm a bit dyslexic like that. Sorry not to have spelt your name right all this time. No offence intended.
If PAT are looking for an oppetunity to dump us then is there a possible allience we can make with Bzy, Babylon and maybe Mali? Is there a likely combination of our friends that could make a competitive allience?
I object to a few civs dictating who is in and out of the PAT, we should become leaders of an allience that serves our best interest and one that allows us a chance to win. If that means going against PAT then that may be risk we have to take, the current 'crossroads' may be our impetious for taking a little gamble.

None taken. I've done something similar myself to someone for weeks and she finally said "You do realize my name is Tajna not Tanja right?"

I wanted to do something similar to this a while back, but Babylon was dead set against it. At this point, I'm not dismissing ANY options.

Thing is, I've been leading PAT as much or more than anyone, including Krill. It;s not really a case of them doing that, it's more a case of them having the charisma/reputation of being super awesome, and me being some nobody. Given the choice, people tend to stick with a known quantity. Right now, the research paths being done are at my insistance (ie we needed Carthage to do Communism not Mali so we could swap to SP when our revolt ended). Also, we've been doing most of the military techs... I've leaned on people to make that so because if we do the research, we cant be the one left holding the bag... We're going to be the ones doing Assembly line, which leaves many possibilities open...
I'll check back in tomorrow or the next day... Still trying to get over being sick. This one is hanging on forever...

Are you guys willing to share your spreadsheet? I remember you mentioning it while we were chatting back when I was in the game, and am shocked you still have it and keep it up to date. Talk about dedication! Even if you don't want to share the file a few screenshots to give me an idea how you organized it?

We ran a completely up to date sandbox (right down to unti promos) up until Turn 120something (although there was a lapse at one point when I was operating alone, but I got it back up to date), at which point I decided I just couldn't manage it anymore (although, had I known how few turns would be played since then...)
Most of the sandbox plans were done by Ref, although there were points along the way where they were done by me when he didn't have the time.
About that point, we switched to spreadsheets for 3 of our cities; The capital Fierias, the +18 food whipper heaven Huckwang Valley, and the newly founded NE city of Smithsonian Park. (the sheets are city specific) Those cities were being planned by Ref, and he had his own workers assigned to them with specific worker plans.
The rest of the cities and workers were under "Maniac does whatever Maniac feels best with input from others" for worker and city management. Basically, this consisted of a pencil and notebook paper planning (yes really) on my part at our core cities of Pride Rock, Temminck, Feng Shui, and Kilrah, and just eyeballing the fledgling ones that still needed basic stuff like grainery/forge/temple(ap hammers).
For a few turns, worker planning was done by me on notebook paper and/or with signs, but more recently Ref has made a comprehensive empire wide worker plan again, like we had back in the sandbox days, as well as taking charge of the cultural battles at our 2 newest cities.
Therefore, there is no one specific spreadsheet for the entire empire. I could probably send you one of the city specific ones if you want that.

OK, now, important buisness post:
I will be leaving almost straight from work Thursday to head to Chicago for Conception Con, where I'll be running games all weekend, and will likely be mostly out of touch till Monday night... then...
I will be leaving almost straight from work a week from Thursday to head to St. Louis for Archon, where I'll be doing all sorts of crap including, but most definitely NOT limited to gaming, and will be mostly out of touch till the following Monday.
Those are my last 2 con's for this year unless I decide to head up to Chicago Tardis Thanksgiving weekend. I'll probably be around SOME while at these cons, but I CAN NOT be counted on to play turns etc... you have been warned.

I'm gone until late this weekend, and no time even to comment. Darrell, one of the spreadsheets is actually posted upthread, though there are a number of issues with it (most listed; also has the wrong cost for riflemen; it's very not current). More this weekend, hopefully.

Decided to log in before leaving. I dono WTF is going on at HV. I guess morgan looked at the wrong turn on the sheet, because it's size 9, not 11, and there is a whipped Pikeman there, which was supposed to be whipped on T156, not 154. This is going to make getting the Globe done there much harder now. It's in need of 6 pop to whip the thing and only has 4 to spare. This is likely going to cost us some rifles =/, I dono. There will be 30 hammers of overflow into the globe after this, so maybe it'll be ok, not going to take half an hour to figure it out, but if anyone else has time to, that would be very useful.

Fierias was building a cav. I set it back to the missionary. We do want to get that settler out like the plan says, after that, I dono what we'll want to do, but lets try to follow the plan for those cities.
I also whipped the barracks at smiths and drafted off a rifle from both FS and PR.
I asked for funding from England. Please keep asking for money from him every turn so research doesnt crash.

Been following the spreadsheet
http://realmsbeyond.net/forums/showpost....count=1147
says to whip a pike and draft a rifle.
Also I hadn't quite finished, was waiting for the cash to come in before ending turn and doing some odds n sods.
