Or just play constant Solo Queue games. Which is quite fun when you need to level to level 20 asap and you are on a good winning streak because of the lower elo players in the games.

I don't know...to be able to play ranked you need to have and be able to play 14 champs competitively. I don't think most of us in solo-queue settings feel really limited by 14 champs of our choice to play.

But those 14 champs are all the same champs everyone else plays with competitively. I should imagine that gets pretty boring.

Every 2 weeks there is a new patch that changes the balance. Characters ebb and flow. Teemo always sucks.

I certainly understand the argument (it's the same in nearly every PvP-game which does have different characters to pick from), but also I don't think that somebody playing a tier2 champ and having fun is worse then someone playing a tier1 champ and being unhappy with it.

And I think it also should not be forgotten that some of the champs really do need their team to support them in order to shine. Simply taking 5 tier1 champs alone won't win a match. Not even to speak about that sometimes having a tier1 champ doesn't help all that much if you get shut down in the laning phase completely because the other one took a tier3 champ which is the hard-counter to your tier1 champ.

To those who played DotA or Demigod or other games of this style: how much learning curve is there? Is it just familiarizing yourself with hero build orders and item recipes, or are there fundamental strategy changes?

Well I went ahead and installed. Very, very similar to DotA, but definitely with a lot of nice improvements. Less clunky feeling than Demigod, too. If you guys are looking for a very experienced player (I played DotA a regrettable amount years ago) as a ringer at some point give me a holler! (chaunceymo there too)

Some good advice in that stream, thanks Speaker. I normally don't like to watch super twitchy, spazzy high ELO players because most of them are horribly obnoxious (HotshotGG) but this guy seemed relatively mellow and more interested in teaching LoL than flexing his epeen.
