LoL is already a game that requires precise timing - attack animations/last hitting, skillshots and juking for example. The extra latency adds another delay you need to account for, which adds up over a game, and can sometimes be strictly lethal. A few weeks back I watched a stream of Riot employees playing, and their highest ping was 2 or something like that. Gustaran Wrote:Funny that Pantheon jumped up
Just shows that tier lists are pointless, and no one really knows what the hell they're talking about when it comes to champ ratings. Everyone hates Sivir, then she dominates in a high profile tournament, then suddenly she's the next FOTM best ranged AD carry, and now she'll be nerfed. Do the arguements against Sivir in this thread still apply now that she's Tier 1?
I usually play with a 150 ping and I don't get any noticeable lag time or delays, although I've never tried LoL with a lower ping so maybe I just got used to the lag time if it ever existed. I'd like to try some games on the European side (for when the US servers are down) but can't seem to get the EU client to work on my PC for some reason. Cull Wrote:Elementz noob. I personally especially dislike the lack of escape abilities, you really need to be very good with her shield and have good map awareness. At the same time she probably needs a certain team composition and only shines once the game lasts 40+ minutes, which could pose a problem in solo queue. But then again, every champion has advantages and disadvantages, so if you like her you can now officially play her and flame those tier 2 Miss Fortune players But we shall see, I guess Sivirs will be all over the place in the next days. Side note: Pantheon champion & skins are on sale right now

It's not like comments (I and others made) about Sivir were made in a vacuum. Unlike Civ5, League of Legends is actually patched every two weeks, with major balance changes occurring. Sivir was the ranged carry least affected by the nerfs, hence her ascendance to the top of the heap. Additionally, you really need to understand that high level tournaments are the *best* way to drive the tier list, since they show what a character is capable of at the absolute highest level. To anyone who watched high ELO streams, he was clearly present in every game. He offered un-rivaled lane domination, good harass with his Q, and a global ult that made it pretty much impossible to not get fed early. And they made him stronger.  And then hotfixed to make him weaker.

Well, with all respect, but without the great performance of Sivir in the recent finals, nobody would have come forward and said "oh, other carries have been nerfed, so Sivir has to jump from "nobody played her for 6 months" to the "T1 AD carry top spot". This was clearly a big underestimation up to the top level and one that almost cost the (arguably) best LoL team an important win. Quote:Pantheon was only considered to be bad by bad players. It's correct that you would see him on many streams, but even Elementz placed him quite low in his last list (T3 I think). |
