Realms Beyond Statistics

I was playing with the Advanced Search capability to the Members List and found some cool info. I set a threshold of members with more than 300 posts and a join date of before Jan 1st, 2008 (I was originally searching for old members) and compiled some data for the 25 members who qualify:

1) The following members have more than 1,000 posts (and yes, three of us are on the same RBP3 team):

2) Members joined in clumps. 9 members joined during 6 months in 2004. 14 more joined during 9 months in 2006. Only Atlas and Regoarrarr joined in between, during 2005. And NO members joined between my join date (Sept. 2006) and the cutoff of Jan 1st, 2008. Obviously interest in Epics and Adventures had peaked by late 2006, and the Apoloyton Demogame and then RBP and RBPBEM events are primarily responsible for the post-2008 increase of activity.

3) We've only lost 2 members from the set of 25. Uberfish disappeared back in 2008, and Blake disappeared back in 2007 BUT lurked the forum as recently as January of this year.

About time that CIV5 comes out, if you have to play around with forum stats to keep you entertained!

Although this list is nice I want to add that the join dates of example Sirian (and others) are not accurate but stem from the forum-move.

On the old fori you will find posts by Sirian dating back to 2001.
the first epic for Civ3 dates from June 2002 and wsa sponsered by Sirian (my first reported epic comes from Aug 2002 so the 2004 join date is not my real one )

Or did you find the real join dates somewhere ?

Very interesting read! Best stat there, in my eyes, was that 23/25 of the 'older' members had been retained. That means a lot i think.

Yup...and one ran off to become a Buddhist so it wasn't our fault . Note that uberfish dropped out of CIV entirely. There are others in that category that don't fit the search criteria (Qwack and ThERat come to mind).

I'd be curious to see a list of people that were active in civ 3 but skipped out on civ 4. There was that hammer dude, I know ...

Right - if I have time I will expand the list by both dropping the post count (Quack and ThERat both just missed it IIRC) and not having a date cutoff.

Yes, it's possible. What I actually think I did was use a 400post cutoff point, sorry I said 300.
