Very neat, I'm in.

I loaded the starting save and noticed a problem. Unit costs for the starting units come to -2 on the first turn. So you have to settle right away (in the crater) or disband something, or lose something to a strike. Is this intentional?

Excellent question.

I have tested it a few times (up to 20 turns in), and you never lose any units to striking. My best guess is that this can only occur once you have a city.

clearly he's telling you to settle in place.
