Superfluous thread for make decision Pottery vs Bronze Working next

And here's another one! AH will be done in the foreseeable future, we need to figure out what to research after it. All seem to agree it's probably BW and Pottery next in some order, but we don't quite agree on which one to do first. Please present your arguments and cast informal votes.

My argument for BW first is that chopping is the biggest benefit at this time. Cottages and granaries can be put off for a little bit, chopping is something we need as soon as possible. Slavery is good too, although I'm guessing we'll want a granary up for whipping to be profitable.

BW, not voting in case i change my mind

What are you going to chop? It depends when we are going to build our first settler imo. At size 2,3 or 5... If we choose 5 then we can go for pottery first and 5->3 whip either the settler or a granary.

FWIW, I support BW first. We'll have the awesome sheep tile giving commerce and it's never a bad thing to whip the granary. Also, +5 food, whip, baby. whip

I was thinking we'd chop out both a worker and a settler, I'd rather get an early advantage than save for later. The granary can be whipped once we have Pottery, won't need to expend another forest on that. But yeah, it does depend on our exact micro plan. Anyone care to make one? smile

Anyone else want to vote/argue? It's only informal, but still a good idea to turn all stones. Krill posted in the other thread that he's in favour of BW first:
Krill Wrote:I think BW fourth is the right move now, we want to chop, slave and use minimum workers to get to three cities. We can slave PB3 for a settler for the plains hill, the decreased pop doesn't matter because we can share the food resources.

Yeah, if going for settler at size 2 or 3 I'd vote for BW too. Actually, settler at size 2 looks like a strong play IMO.

The only other option is size 4 and double slave, but someone will need to run through that MM in the sim to see how much more commerce and hence beakers it makes. I'm not sure how fast we can get to BW in time though, is the problem. The settler at size 2 should take about 10 turns and the third tile will not be worked after being improved, but it has to be improved for use once second city is planted.

I am happy to take a look at this but it may not be tonight. I think we do need to start doing a little more planning like this in the sandbox.
