Weekend Pitboss

Since our regularly scheduled gracious host is tending to awesome family business this weekend, I thought I'd set up a pitboss server and see if anyone wants to play a quick game to scratch their Civ itch. Since pitboss is still slow compared to a gamespy or direct IP connection game, it would be a blitz style game if anyone is interested. Everyone logs in, plays, and the game rolls on. People can come and go as they please, this is just a fun thing to pass the time while we wait for the Super Serious Competitive Games to resume.

Anyone interested? I've worked out the technical details as far as I'm aware, just need map ideas and people who want to play.

The turns are set to 1 hour since that's the shortest interval I can set. Some of the leader picks suck but that's OK, it's random and doesn't count! Now go kill each other!

The game is up, feel free to log in and grab a civ and have fun. Play a while, drop out when you need to, just resign to AI control (ALT+Q) if you're not coming back.

Edit: OK, so this apparently doesn't work well for concurrent play. *waving white flag*

Let Emperor AIs play the first 100 normal turns.
Then take over and roll.

i don't know that anyone would want to play after an AI though, it could be a real mess

yeah...our test pitboss game ran on after we disconnected and the AIs did some interesting things. Captial with 4 water tiles, why not build moai?

Just set the turn timer to 2 hours (btw, it was implied that humans swap civs. The game is a short term one that gets taken down after a time limit, right?)

2 hours is OK, 1 hour probably better though right? The assumption is that whoever is playing would mostly stay actively logged in and playing until it was time to go do something else. Though now that I think of it this just begs for wartime shenanigans. But 2 hours, 1 hour, whatever. The game will go offline at the end of the weekend most likely, this computer is a beast and makes my office too hot to leave it running all the time.
