Imperium Eleven - Rise of the Triad

Imperia

Sponsor: Sullla
Opening Date: Monday, July 28
Duration: Four Weeks
Map Generation: Random (unedited)

Race: Klackon
Difficulty: Hard
Galaxy Size: Medium
Opponents: Four
Color: Blue
Events: Off

(Events are off for this Imperium. Sadly, Master of Orion does not keep this information stored in the save file. You must disable events manually by holding down the Alt key and typing EVENTS at the beginning of each play session. The screen should look like the screenshot below if entered correctly.)

Scenario: This second game revisits the scoring scheme from one of our Civ4 events. To succeed you will have to navigate the triple roles of colonist, researcher, and diplomat - all important features of the gameplay in Master of Orion. Remember, your primary competition is not the in-game opponents, but the other players seeking to unite the triad!

Scoring: This event has custom scoring. SCORING IS OPTIONAL. You are not required to track your scoring if you prefer not to do so. If you want to be scored, you need to document (via screenshot or saved games, preferably both) all items that you claim for score, in case we call on you to verify any of your claims. Players are strongly recommended to keep save game files from the benchmark scoring dates (2375 and 2450).

You may earn points for this game in each of three different categories: colonist, researcher, and diplomat.

Colonist
3 points: EACH planet under your control at the end of the 2375 turn
1 point: EACH planet under your control at the end of the 2450 turn

3 points: EACH vote you cast in the 2375 Council Vote
1 point: EACH vote you cast in the 2450 Council Vote

(Note: it is possible for the 2375 turn to pass without a council vote taking place. To calculate your score manually, go into the Planets screen and add up the total population of all of your planets, then divide by 100 and round up to the nearest whole number. This is how the game calculates the council vote. Example: if you have five planets with population 110, 95, 76, 30, and 5, then the sum = 316, which becomes four votes after dividing by 100 and rounding up.)

Researcher
1 point for your tech level in each of the six fields at the end of the 2375 turn
1 point for your tech level in your THREE BEST tech fields at the end of the 2450 turn

(Example: If your tech levels read 10, 12, 8, 15, 12, and 11 in 2375, your score would be the sum of these six fields = 68 points. If you had the same tech levels in 2450, your score would be the best three of those added together, 15 + 12 + 12 = 39.)

Diplomat
The scoring in both 2375 and 2450 is the same, based upon your relations with each of the other four races. Score points as follows for EACH race:

Feud: 0 points
Hate: 0 points
Discord: 0 points
Troubled: 2 points
Tense: 2 points
Restless: 4 points
Wary: 6 points
Unease: 8 points
Neutral: 10 points
Relaxed: 12 points
Amiable: 14 points
Calm: 16 points
Affable: 18 points
Peaceful: 20 points
Friendly: 22 points
Unity: 25 points
Harmony: 30 points

You do not score any points for races you have not met, or races that have been eliminated from the game. (Example: if you had relations in 2375 that read "Restless", "Neutral", "Friendly", and no contact with the fourth race, your score would be 4 + 10 + 22 + 0 = 36 points.)

Bonus Scoring
100 points: Victory (any type)

If you have 75 or more points in all three categories, DOUBLE your score! You have demonstrated proficiency in all three aspects of the triad.

If you have 150 or more points in all three categories, QUADRUPLE your score!!! You have united the triad and mastered all three roles. (Is this even possible? Guess we'll find out!)

Additional Rules
* You may not gift technologies or money to the AIs to boost relations. These tactics are off the table for this game.

* You may not trade technologies with the AIs in this game to boost your tech levels. Espionage is perfectly acceptable, however.

* All scoring takes place at the end of the 2375 and 2450 turns; record your information from those dates. EXCEPTION: if you have enough votes to win the game on either or these turns, you may record your data from the 2374/2449 turn instead. You are not required to play an additional 25 turns if the game is already won.

* If you win the game before reaching the year 2450 (or 2375), you do not score any points for those benchmark dates.

Closing Day: Monday, August 25. Reports due by the end of August 26, your local time.
