[SPOILERS] Kyan: Warchief of The Horde.

Diplomacy is no option. Peace is no option. This means war.

[COLOR="Silver"]I should have started with this. An explanation. This thread will be roleplayed from start to finish. Any and all lurker comments/input are welcome but i ask that you do not use coloured font. That way, for anyone that might be reading the roleplay- you simply have to skip anything not coloured.

INDEX:

GREY = Out of Character. This is me, the person, not me, the orc talking.
YELLOW= Kyan Doomfist. Warchief of The Horde
LIGHT BLUE= History stubs
OTHER COLOURS= Will be assigned to other NPC's or ded-lurkers. These represent their actions or them speaking.

Council Members: If any ded-lurker wants to be involved, then you are welcome to. Please let me know what race you would like to be. You may, if you wish, provide your own picture and name. I am happy to generate these for you if you wish. Buyer beware: i will be playing this civ game to win, but if things are getting boring, i reserve the write, as the author, to 'spice it up'. I might do or say anything to your character (except kill you off). You are free to respond as you see fit. If you choose not to respond, then after a fair amount of time, i will write a response for you to continue the story.

My promise to you:

I will write at least one meaningful update every 3 days. This is my minimum. If i fail, you may berate me and do something really horrible to me in-story as you deem fit. If i am aware that time will be short for a particular weekend, i may write multiple 'proper' posts before hand. Think of the above as an average rather than a strict rule although i will endeavour to adhere to it. The countdown begins on the day i get my first turn.[/COLOR]

EDIT: (This is your opportunity to join the council as a dedicated lurker. You can choose your own name and race as well as becoming my go-to for one of my assigned enemies. You can also choose yourself a picture. Any slots that are not filled by folk, will be played by NPC's that i fabricate. I intend to RP this all the way through...)

  Adventure 50 Results
Posted by: sooooo - January 20th, 2012, 19:35 - Forum: Civ4 Event Reports - Replies (6)

Thanks to all who played this game - I enjoyed reading all of the reports nod. From earliest to latest, the following players conquered Rome:

But bonus points to Square Leg for the domination victory shortly afterwards!

My only comments from the sponsor are that I was disappointed with my design this time - I have done better. I didn't make it difficult enough given that you don't have to go on to win the game afterwards. Rome should have been further away (maybe on a difference continent?) and/or have had even more bonuses. Also, a fastest finish city-raze game inherently has some problems. You could just ruin your civ to build an early stack and not suffer any consequences, which turns the game into a bit of a lottery. I still enjoy designing games (more than I enjoy playing them now!) and may put up another game some time that will hopefully be better designed.

  PBEM 31, pushing comfort zones.
Posted by: Commodore - January 20th, 2012, 13:44 - Forum: PBEM31 - Replies (198)

So, with the advent of PB7 there might not be a ton of interest, but here's my idea for a new PBEM. I think it'd be best to have four or five players just for turn pace reasons.

Basically, I was thinking an AW game on some sort of Pangaea or Lakes-style map, with civs and leaders lurker-chosen, from a ban list of traits and civs the players have already played with on RB. So my combo would be a leader lacking:
[strike]Fin
Org,
Exp,
Chm,[/strike]
and probably Spi/Agg, although a duel is pushing it to be fair.
and excluding the civilizations of:
[strike]Mongolia
HRE
Carthage[/strike]

Ideally preference would be given to less used leaders, too, that list excludes neither Pericles nor Louis, but both of them have been seen a bunch of times. Obviously this would be a fair amount of decision-making on the part of the mapmaker too, as the final decider. Would anyone be interested in this concept?

And here's the final listings:

Always War.
No barbs
No huts
No Spies
No Nukes
No SoZ
No WE
No events
No religious victory, but AP is fine.

Players, emails at the usual place:
Ginger Eagle: (gingereagle1969)
Kyan: (peterofindia)
Dazedroyalty: (dazedroyalty)
Ceiliazul: (Ceiliazul.rb)
Commodore: (Commodore.RB)

  Video game design post-mortems
Posted by: cabacon - January 18th, 2012, 21:47 - Forum: The Gaming Table - Replies (1)

People here seem more interested than most in the design of games. I stumbled across a compilation of links to video game design post-mortems that I thought I would de-lurk to share: http://www.pixelprospector.com/the-big-l...stmortems/

It looks like they're all from gamasutra, with the exception of three Humble Indie bundle talks. I hope somebody finds them entertaining!

Figured we should have one of these, especially as I don't even know Mackoti's email to pass on the save. So everyone, post the emails you want to use for this game. I'll edit them into this post, along with any other information that would be useful (like the tracker link once we get that set up).

Emails (at gmail unless otherwise noted, not including it just to avoid spam bots):
Shoot: shootthemoonrb
Nakor: ikingbas
Dave: davidharris93
Sian : Sianist
Pindicator : jwmoore5024

What's a good place to get a free forum?

I'm setting up a forum for a school group project, and was wondering if anyone knows of a good free host. Priorities:
- good uptime
- no ad in the first post of a thread
- decent interface
- pleasant or customizable theme

Thanks!

[Spoilers] SleepingMoogle's thread, better late than never.

Yeah yeah, here's my spoiler thread. I hope you're happy with yourselves now. :neenernee

Obligatory picture to prevent accidental spoilage below. Given the nature of the game, I thought an artist's impression of Itkovian's ultimate fate in the Malazan Book of the Fallen series would be appropriate. Also, go read it if you haven't already and looking for an epic, gritty fantasy series to sink your teeth into.
